  3. Yeah the switch wears and it wont quite click over onto the last stage even when the keys fully turned, Id always look into probs with the switch before the starter, as I said I change loads of switches and not many starters. but without looking at the car I cant be 100% sure.
  4. Id go with a new ignition switch first, I have to change them all the time at work.

  12. Ive had to get a second car (MK2 gti) as my C is completely dismantled at the minute
  13. The cutting out problem is usually related to the factory fit imobiliser, even though yours has got an aftermarket alarm fitted the factory one might still be there, try taking the drivers side dash tray off, then if you have a look behing the dash just above the spoiler switch you should see a single black cable going into a box, unplug it give it a squirt of WD40 and plug it back in, try and start it.. and see how you get on Hope this helps
  14. The sunroof seals are designed to let water through, it then drains into the sunroof channels and down pipes in the A and C posts and back out of the car...you might find the sunroof channels are broken at the end where the pipes join..Had this problem with mine, and it used to fill the boot with water. Drop the head lining down then pour water on the roof and watch for leaks Hope this helps
  15. Well done mate you know it makes sense :D
  16. Do a search on hear I think its been discussed at length
  17. That depends if the plates drop low enough for the spring to be loose, but theres no harm trying it.
  18. You might find that the spring isnt seated in the top plate properley, which will make the spring kink to one side.
  19. Amazing attention to detail Ive been following your friend TASVR6 on edition38...2 x 24v's in a Lupo! :notworthy:
