flashing oil light? engine not starting problem

Oh right it was worth a try coz they sometimes work when you do that, IMHO id still say its the barrel or ignition switch. -

Just a quick update...the golfs had a bad missfire when warm and it felt just like a sticking valve, I thought id better sort it out...and was gonna rip the head off for a closer look but thought Id check the basics first...I was told by the previous owner that a garage had changed plugs, leads and dizzy cap to cure it, but on closer inspection they hadnt so ive changed them and its cured!!! Just shows that some garages rip people off...and thats coming out of a mechanics mouth! lol -
flashing oil light? engine not starting problem

Have you tried my suggestion above? I normally change 2 ignition switches or barrels a month at work. and its got all the symptoms of this fault. -
flashing oil light? engine not starting problem
nemesis360 replied to cardboard's topic in Engine Bay
It might be the ignition switch or barrel not turning enough to kick the starter in (quite common)...try turning the key to where it would normally start and give it a wiggle. If it starts you need to find out which of the above is at fault. Graham -

PS My TT seats will be up for sale as soon as ive cleaned them up, ill post them in the for sale section once ready if anyones interested... -

I must admit its got a few issues...It needs an air mass meter and lambda probe, and the passenger side needs painting...but for £100 Id expect a lot worse and with no MOT or tax! -

Cheers guys, I couldnt turn it down could I! lol -
Well Ive taken the Corrado off the road to get a few things done this winter, I had just started looking for a run around when I got a call off my brother, he said his mate had a MK3 golf gti 8v for sale..."£100 and its yours"...needless to say I was on the next train to have a look at it. I turn up and look round...87k with aircon and 6 months tax and MOT!!! Its now my daily! heres some pics... It needs a good clean tho! Graham
-
I normaly do the with the front on, but it helps if youve got long arms! Graham
-
OH DEAR! probably spent more money making it look like a corrado than just buying a corrado!
-
Looking good Michael, you say youve tidied the engine bay up a bit more...what was left to tidy you could eat your dinner of it already??!! lol Seriously Im really impressed with the work your doing on this, its all the little touches that finish it off for me. Graham
-
IMO Id do the engine swap first, youll put a lot of time and money into making the vr work with the charger, only to swap it all a year or so down the line. Get the R32 in and have one of a few c's with one running! Graham
-
I will hopefully get my engine bay painted and tidied, but while the engines out I might have to do something :D , depends on time and budget tho... Maybe some different wheels, i do like mine but im not sure if i want them on for the show season coz there a bit rough now. Graham

Looks like a good finish, top marks mate!
