Confession from a G60 owner to all VR Boys
skinnyman9000 replied to iow_corrado_g60's topic in General Car Chat
Got to admit i'm the same. My 1.8 16V has a standard filter and exhaust on, and at around 5-7k i think it sounds bloody wonderful! -
Sounds to me like the VR6 is your only choice. As for fuel economy, my valver is shocking. I get around 180miles for £30, looking at about 22mpg around town, which isn't funny. I've been weighing up options for my next car (i like to plan ahead), looking at a decent VR6 Rado for around £5k, or a Seat Ibiza for around £6k, wounder which one will win!
-
Anyone sporting a richbrook one? They usually look pretty swish
-
What aftermarket wheels do people have on here? Im thinking of buying a Momo Millenium wheel for the valver, some people have suggested that it might look too bling and to look at the team wheel, but after Vin's post about a group buy over on E38 it would seem that every dub in the country will soon be sporting one! So, lemme see pics of what you've got, to see what works with the rest of the interior Ta muchly Chris.

Mine is £750 TPFT for my 1.8 16V. Granted its not a VR6, and its only TPFT cover, but at the time i was 20 without ncb, and the valver is still around insurance group 15

Hmmm, it would appear then that leaving the earlier controls in is a safer bet in terms of reliability
-
"The people who normally drive these things are very drunk and aiming at the bollards erected around local roadworks" sooooo true!
-
   Nice car  Mines identical
-
How easy/difficult is it to put the later heater controls into an earlier model? Because the older sliding design ones really do suck, especially when they get caught up on the headunit wiring!
-
To be honest i dont think he would have any trouble selling it. From the sounds of things its basically a Rado fresh from the factory, so if that went up for sale for around £7k i'd happily purchase it (fundage permitting). Lets face it, most VR6's go for £4-5k anyway But unfortunately he wont get anywhere near what he paid for it, but good luck to him!

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
skinnyman9000 replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Booked it in the garage to have: discs and pads all round rear wheel bearings cambelt oil leak sorted AND the following day its having an mp3 headunit and hard drive installed, so this time next week i should be a happy bunny!! -
First question. What possessed him to spend £18k on it?!?

HELP NEED A NEW VW MECHANIC (Derby Area)!!!!!!!!
skinnyman9000 replied to inky's topic in Suppliers Forum
Ive been recommended Sunset VW in Derby. Highly recommended by some of my mates, one of which owns a mk2 supercharged VR6, so the guy isn't affraid to get into some serious machinery. He's also German, don't know if that makes a difference, lol. Doubt he'd be up for travelling as he is just like any other garage, but probably worth the trips to him if ya can make it, my Rado is booked in with him on Tues for a tinkering -
Been offered a 2001 Scooby WRX. Talk me out of it..
skinnyman9000 replied to Rpmayne's topic in General Car Chat
Not a fan of the newer models, but the older L reg ones are pure sex. Can't beat the sound as they trundle passed, hearing every cylinder fire through the exhaust -
Grille looks a bit extra in my opinion, makes the car look out of proportion. The polo looks like a small car, trying to be small, that looks like a large car trying to be small.

Nope, no clay bar, mean to next time though

The previous owner of my Rado paid £350 in 2000 to have a Gemini alarm fitted. When my expansion tank cracked and poured water all over the alarm control box mr AA man found that the alarm was merely wired into the coil and nothing else!! Meaning that the removal of one wire and the replacement of another completely bypassed the alarm!
-
My Rado often runs with the oil at 110+. The engine is getting a going over and an oil leak sorting soon, so hopefully that will solve the problem
-
Can anyone show me any information regarding the 16V G60 option? I intend to hold onto my Rado for a number of years because i love it but i will inevitably want more power. I dont want a VR6 because i feel they are expensive for what they are, and my Rado is in excellent condition anyway. Ta muchly for any info. Chris

At least the radiator is a simple enough job, bushes should be fun tho

yeah, got a good deal on the 16V tho, only paying £750, but they wanted me to be 21 for the G60. I just figured i could run the 16V standard for 3/4 years then get myself a VR6 once funds allow -
ah, can't beat a nice bit of euro trance
