  1. I think when it comes to run around time next year i'll be buying a mk2 8v, some can be had for silly cheap money these days! I also love the fact how they're one of the only cars that are on either end of the spectrum. Some people used them as £100 run arounds, and others put R32 lumps and suicide doors on them!
  2. Damn some of those wheels look tasty! Just imaging now a set of 13x8's slammed on my old polo saloon............
  3. There were some seats for sale on here a while ago that i missed :( They were basically normal seats with the centres done in red alcantara. How much would this cost to get done?
  4. Why are resprays so expensive? I'd like to get mine done at some point. Although if i were to have a respray in the same colour there wouldn't be any messing around with door shuts, under the bonnet, inside the boot etc, would just be the external panels
  5. I'll be ringing first thing in the morning!!
  6. You've got another 80k left before any problems, lol. In all honesty though, with that mileage as long as you look after the engine it should be fine!
  7. Ok, well the valve seals weren't replaced, im gonna hold out until the engine gives way then get a rebuild/swap. For now i need it to get through the MOT, as it was chucking out too much smoke last time, sooooo im getting some no more smoke gunf and i need some decent thick oil. So this thread has given me about 6 different oils, lol. So, with my situation, what should i use? I want as little consumption as possible, and as little purely out the exhaust as poss too!
  8. I'm trying to order some of these from the website on the first page, but when i click on the 'proceed to secure server' i get a blank page. Any ideas?
  9. Looks awesome. Keep it and take it to the shows. I have a very nice example of a red valver, i wouldnt say it was mint at all, but the looks and smiles i got when i rolled into E38 show made it worth the cost alone!
  10. mk2 8V for me. Cheap enough now, so even the good examples are cheap to get hold of. Can expect 40mpg too, AND a bahn brenner supercharger is only £1500.
  11. Honda Accord? Man dad's only set him back £4k
  12. Excellent news! Its about time, its not often these stories end this way
  13. I cant be arsed to read all this, but for me a true dubber is someone that buys a 1.3 mk1 to rescue it from the scrapyard, then spends their weekends for the next 6 months returning it to good health. I've had a mk2 golf, a mk2 polo saloon, and now my Rado. But i do own an escort too, but thats a lil side project really.
  14. They go for that. Everyone looked after the RS Turbos, as a result the XR3i's got ignored, been offered £1500 when its done, and thats looking at how it is now without seeing the finished result!
  15. Harsh! :-P It has one lady owner, 36k, standard, is mint underneath, arches are mint, interior is mint, floor and boot pan are mint. It has some cosmetic rust on the rear outer arches. Once the front end is sorted, and the engine is running this lil baby will be worth a fair whack. One was for sale on passionford, with 101k, for £1400, so when this is sorted it'll be worth £2k+ just ribbin you mate I'll admit its a mess now, but to be honest im just loving having a project. To date the most manual thing i've done to my car was change the wheels! So i wanna do as much as i possibly can myself, besides, you dont know how much it cost me to get hold of

  17. I've recently acquired a new project (dont worry, the Rado is still staying). I've never been able to have a second car as a project, so im really looking forward to sinking my teeth into this one! Its a H reg Escort XR3i. Totally standard, 36k miles, and 1 lady owner from new. Here is how far i got this weekend. It doesnt look like much, but we took all the interior out too, and the car has been sat for 4yrs+ so every single bolt was a mission! Unfortunately when we removed the front bumper we found this: So, what does everyone think? About the damage, and the project in general?
  18. My car stinks of oil, and it burns alot out through the exhaust, which caused it to fail its MOT. So whilst having some other work done on it i had the garage conduct a compression test. Results are, its fine, which removes my initial thought of worn valve seals. So if the valve seals are fine, and the compression is fine, what can be causing the excessive oil burn? Cheers Chris.
  19. I reckon someone will pau upwards of £6k for it. I love my Rado, but personally i wouldn't pay that much for a Rado, there are some astonishing cars to be had for that money, but then again, a VR enthusiast will happily pay alot for that
  20. Does anyone else think that they purposefully buy awful cars that will go wrong? Because these road trips just wouldnt work if every car was fine and dandy would it?
  21. Could be that then, he drives it 3 miles to work, 3 miles back, rarely has a journey over 5 miles, then again its about the same for my C
  22. Pulled up next to it on the drive in my mum's escort, as it sits there broken
  23. Don't do it!!! I had another car a while ago (im not going to say what) and i spent £1500 on it within 10 months, i then sold it for another car, thinking i'd spent too much on mine to spend anymore. I've now got the Rado and i was thinking of selling up for a VR6 in the summer, but ive recently spend just under £1000 on the valver. So if its now running nicely and looking good then why not keep it. Ok its a valver, but there are turbo/16v G60/engine swap options
