After owning a rado for 4yrs i really should know, but i dont, sooo, which are which?
-
The only difference i know from early/late is the location of the window switches, obviously the early ones dont have any. Im sure you could relocate/mod the early ones.

Ive got some up for £150 at the minute, but i think they might be too high. If he's offering mates rates then i'd take them. Not sure about converting them, but i'd imagine it would be possible.

*BREAKING* 1990 Tornado red 1.8 16V
skinnyman9000 replied to skinnyman9000's topic in Cars for Breaking
Pumbaa - Thats a good point. Shelf supports are yours, and i'll get a postage price for these and the lower airbox unit tomorrow for you. Meth - Photos of the wings and bonnet might have to wait until Saturday if thats ok, once i get them off the car and into natural light. I wont be wanting much for them due to their condition, i'd say £20 each for the bonnet and wing that needs attention, and probably £50 for the one with fresh paint (paint cost me £150). Do you still want the headlight switch? -

Make it £22 inc postage, i know it doesnt seem much difference but im anal with stuff like that. You're after the grab handles, not the actual pull handles that open the door? -
*BREAKING* 1990 Tornado red 1.8 16V
skinnyman9000 replied to skinnyman9000's topic in Cars for Breaking
Meth – Headlight switch will be £11 posted Terry – The under dash fusebox cover tray is £5+ P&P Dragon – Sorry bud, this is a sunroof model Baron – One strap is fine, the other is broken. I’m at the footy tonight but I’ll check with parcel2go tomorrow night about postage and I’ll get this down as low as I can. Fuzzer – Yeah the seats are pretty good. They’ve faded slightly since that photo, but for £80 I’d still say they’re a good bargain. Pumbaa – You’ve got first dibs on the shelf supports. I ideally want to sell the airbox complete, and the seat hoop will need to go with the seats too. But the heater slider panel is £15. I’ll check postage prices once ive got the parts off the car tomorrow, but would imagine around £5. Abdul – Interior is all early model. Both grab handles and window switches will be £20. I am hoping to have the following items removed this weekend: Bonnet Wings Doors Tailgate Bumpers Headlights Fogs Rear lights -
*BREAKING* 1990 Tornado red 1.8 16V
skinnyman9000 replied to skinnyman9000's topic in Cars for Breaking
The bonnet and right wing are knackered, will need a respray, the paint is cracked and badly faded. But the left wing was resprayed about 18 months ago, so is pretty much perfect. Im hoping to get the doors, bonnet and tailgate off over the weekend. Prices are + P&P, but postage on the switches will be like £1 anyway -
Unfortunately the time has come to break my beloved corrado. Due to the deterioration of the paintwork it is now worth several times more in parts then it is in one piece. Eventually the entire car will be broken, but I am trying to do it in stages so that I don’t end up with a house/garage full of parts, so please be patient. If there is anything in particular that you want right away then let me know, if it’s not too difficult I can take it off the car early. Details of said car: 1990 Tornado red (pink) 1.8 16V, engine on 132k, rebuilt by Midland VW at 118k. First come, first serve I have a lot of parts to sell, and no doubt I’ll have a lot of people to deal with at once, so im going to have to do things on a first come, first serve basis, BUT, I can’t hold parts forever. So please do not get it touch and ask me to save something for 3-4wks. Once someone ‘dibs’ a part I will give them 48hrs to arrange payment/contact me, if I have not received payment/contact from the buyer within 48hrs then the item will be offered to the next interested buyer. Postage/packaging I will post whatever items I can, but the buyer must be willing to pay for the level of postage they want, so insurance/recorded delivery will be at the buyer’s discretion. Also, for some items the buyer will have to be patient whilst I find suitable packaging materials, I won’t have boxes to hand for everything. Also, due to now having an A4 Avant I will be able to deliver some items/meet half way, but this will be at a charge of 40p/mile, to take into account the time/fuel taken to deliver the item. Collection in person is also an option. Right, first thing to go is the interior. It’s a standard black/dark grey earlier interior, with the exception of the front seats (as per the picture). Everything is in very good/good condition. I can provide photos of everything if required, but most of the parts are self explanatory. I have never broken a car before or sold this many parts, so if any of the prices are a bit off then please let me know and I’ll adjust accordingly (as long as you’re not just trying to get a cheaper price!) Front seats - £60 Rear seats - £20 Door cards - SOLD Early audioscape door pods - SOLD Parcel shelf (no holes) - SOLD Sunvisors (pair) - £15 SOLD PENDING PAYMENT A pillars (pair) - SOLD B pillars (pair) - £10 C pillars (pair) - £10 Fusebox cover tray - £5 Drivers under tray - £5 Passenger under tray - £15 Parcel shelf supports - SOLD Headlight switch - £10 Heated rear window switch - £8 Fog light switch - £8 Grab handles - SOLD Rear parcel shelf support speakers - £10 If there is anything else from the interior people want then let me know. Also, let me know if anyone wants photos. Here are some more items for the list: 420amp battery, cost £99 from Halfords in April 2008. £20, collection only. Starter motor, bought Feb 2009 (receipt to prove), covered around 5k, cost £75, after £30 Alternator, 90amp. Cost £135. Havent got the receipt but when I get photos up you’ll see it’s covered around 5k. SOLD PENDING PAYMENT Headlights - Reflectors in good condition, passed last MOT ok. Front brackets have been snapped in the past and plastic welded back together. Will get photos over the weekend. Includes some phillips superbright bulbs. All clips etc are present, one of the top clips broke but has been plastic welded and is fine. £60 Front fogs - SOLD Standard grill - £10 16V grill badge - £10 Passenger door handle - £20 Drivers door handle - £20 Dash speaker grills - £10 pair Airbox with metering head - £20 I'll try to get photos of everything i can over the weekend guys!!

Im just worried about the 'discuss in thread part'. Should i treat it as first come, first serve? Or first to put the money in my hand? See if buyer A posts first, but wants to pay next week, then buyer B posts and can pay today, which should i allow the item to go to? Is it down to me or are there set ways the mods prefer things to be done? I just want to set a standard early on

Evening chaps. Im going to be selling a whole heap of stuff soon and i wondered if there was a 'sellers guidelines' thread/sticky anywhere? Want to know the do's and don'ts of selling before i post my thread.

Sorry for the slow update on this. Ended up with a 1997 A4 tdi wagon. Alternator died after 4 days and now the alarm goes off randomly. At least I've taken my reliability issues with me!

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

Push it into the garage ready for breaking. Sad day -
More than I thought then. That'll do nicely

Question, how much do these go for these days?

It did a very good job at testing me at times, here's what i've done off the top of my head: Engine rebuild Alternator Starter motor Ignition switch Bonnet cable Sunroof Burst water pipes Blown oil pump gasket HT leads failure Im sure there have been other problems over the years. The new whip has continued the trend already though!

Oh no that was back in its prime probably 18 months ago. Now its a nice shade of red/matt red/orange/pink/lacquer peel with a dented rear arch from a nice man who hit it and drove off, and 2 bent wheels thanks to a massive pothole/crater. It was a stunner back in its day, unfortunately those days are long gone.

Well, after almost 4yrs of ownership i've decided to move on from the rado. Unfortunately i needed something cheaper to run, and hopefully more reliable, so i've ended up with an Audi A4 Avant. Due to the bodywork of the rado its worth peanuts in one piece, so will be broken shortly, so keep your eyes peeled if you're after any bits and bobs. Anyway, here is the corrado, currently sat on the drive awaiting its fate: And here's the new whip. Perfect for lugging rado parts up and down the M1: It would appear though that i've definitely carried the rado's reliability into my new car ownership. I bought the A4 on Saturday and it looks like the alternator has died! Onwards and upwards eh!

They are rare, very rare I'd say, but I'm not sure theyre desirable. I actually got them off here very cheap because no one else wanted them! So even they could be repaired I'd have to sell them for at least £360 to make it worth while. I've been told to select a "similar set" if they can't be repaired, but that in itself is rather difficult, especially seeing as how I don't want another set. Wonder if it's worth explaining I wanted to sell them for £xxx and then claim that in compo?

how much from breaking a Corrado~?
skinnyman9000 replied to Alex_G60_Fanatic's topic in General Car Chat
Are there alot of Rado's being broken at the minute? I'll be breaking mine shortly, once a new daily is sorted, and im worried that with the number up for breaking im going to be left with a garage full of rado parts. -
Right then chaps, update on the cards. I finally got around to taking the wheels in for a repair quote. I tried 3 places. The first 2 said they were damaged beyond repair as the dent protrudes across the full width of the wheel. I then went to the last place and the chap said he'd give it a go, but couldnt guarantee it would work. (Also had a very good chat with him as he owned and wrote off a VR6 storm last year!!). He's quoted £240 to get them repaired. The money is kinda irrelevant as it looks like the council are willing to pay out. I now have 2 options. Do i: A) Get the money, put some in myself, and get all 4 refurbed back to new B) Tell the council they cant be repaired, and seek compensation to replace them with something similar? To be honest im thinking of selling them, so this decision is more based around money than saving the wheels. I can get the other 2 wheels refurbed for an extra £60 per wheel. So its going to cost £360 all in, would it be worth spending this money to then sell them on? Or would i be better off keeping the council money and selling them as needing repair? Im at a loss now tbh.

Well I've just watched the Ultramarines film. Gotta say if I'd paid £5 in the play bargain bin then fair enough, but for £26, it kist wasn't worth it. I hope they make more, but they need to lower the price of make them worth the money. Anyway wanna buy the collectors edition of ultramarine? £20 posted

2K to spend on my car, what to do first?
skinnyman9000 replied to stingman123's topic in General Car Chat
I say bodywork. You can replace mechanical items one at a time when you have a spare few hundred quid, but having £2k in your hand is the perfect opportunit for a big job like a respray -
Not what i was hoping to hear after forking out £26 (yes, £26!) for it. Oh well, i'll give it a bash anyway. My last one, Shutter Island. 8/10. Enjoyed it very much, think Leo is awesome these days, and even better when he teams up with Martin Scorsese. Also i enjoy films based on mental illness and and messing with peoples genetics. Like the surmise of it too, whereby no one would believe anything a clinically insane person would say.

Whats with the price of Corrados nowaday?
skinnyman9000 replied to Joe M's topic in General Car Chat
To be honest once my valver is gone i'll be moving away from Rado ownership until i can afford to do it, what i call, properly. By this i mean, i'll buy a premium quality, rebuilt/dry stored example with hopefully a fresh engine, which will then be garaged by myself and used as a second car. Some people can handle them as dailies, mines been a daily for 4yrs now and its hammered me to be honest.
