Had my R8 driving experience this morning at Bruntingthorpe. Bloody awesome machine! Acceleration is amazing. Agree with what some people on here have said though, the driving position feels very similar to a rado, although i'd say the steering feedback isnt as good as a well sorted C. :luvlove: I managed to hold off a Carrera GT on the first lap and pass a 430 on the 3rd lap. We'd been having a tussle for most of the 2nd lap and the instructor encouraged me to floor it out of a corner a little sooner than i should have to get past him, the instructor was more excited about it than me! I know he's never going to tell anyone they're crap, but he sounded genuinely impressed with my driving, even managed a 38/40 score :norty: I got the typical reply too when i told the instructor i drove a rado, the old "ah G60 or VR6?". ALWAYS the same, and always the same "oh" when you say the 1.8 valver. Some random trivia for you here too, my instructor used to work for Spax and actually designed the coilovers used on the Max Power Reiger kitted rado. All in though a bloody good day and i cant wait to get back out in something else.

Mine often hits the high teens in traffic. Windows down and warm fans on

Recently the C has developed a slight misfire, sounds like its on race cams, but its not. I had a gander around the engine bay and noticed that the ends of one of the HT leads (where it attaches to the spark plug) had some white powder around it. Is it likely that the spark plug is knackered, and that this is causing the misfire? And that a simple spark plug replacement (on all 4 obvs) would solve the issue?

Thats a very well known feeling on here pal, happens to the best of us! Keep driving it for a few weeks and so if it comes back. Sunday evening blasts as the suns starting to set usually does the trick

How much does your Corrado cost you to run?
skinnyman9000 replied to Chris71's topic in General Car Chat
Well in 3yrs mine has needed the following (obviously some of which are routine maintenance, but still): HT leads Dizzy Burst water pipe Alternator Start motor Ignition switch Sunroof replacement Spoiler motor died and is still dead Heater matrix valves replaced Rear heater window switch Rear strut top mount Throttle housing has got jammed open a few times And lastly a few months after purchase the piston rings went, so a full £1000 rebuild occurred. As you can see though most of those things are routine maintenance, and alot didnt cost much to fix, but they were just a ballache. Like the water pipe, it didnt cost much and wasnt much of a job, but it burst in a traffic jam on the M1, so not the best place. -

I would give you the figures for my 3yrs of ownership, but I feel the exception to the rule in the fact that pretty much everything has broken on my car at some point -
The ones covered in the surface rust? Yeah ive been keeping an eye on them, their condition doesnt seem to have altered in the past 2-3yrs

Getting some vibration thru the brake pedal, getting worse over the past fortnight. Discs and pads looked fine when i had the mot done. The braking ability isn't getting any worse (still as crap as ever). What's the likely cause and cure?
-
If the rocco concept to production is anything to go by then it wont look ANYTHING like that. Nice though
-
Well ive replaced my heater bypass valves and and the fan switch within the past few months, so i know they're fine. Perhaps a new fan/motor and a closer look at the radiator would do the trick

I too am very interested in the cooling options for valvers. I have a 1.8 kr lump, but last week I did a cross town jaunt in rush hour and I was seeing coolant at just below 110c and oil around 120-128, the last time it was that high it burst a coolant pipe, so i get very nervous, and it's only going to get worse in the summer. I have a sneaky feeling the garage put poop oil in, as it gets hotter quicker, but even syntac will eventually reach the 120c mark. My radiator fan motor is about ready to die, so I wanna know if it's worth replacing the radiator for a VR one whilst I'm there
-
My fan motor is starting to sound like a cement mixer, is it about to let go? If so, roughly how much are they? Should I replace the fan too? And whilst I'm on the subject, what can I do to reduce my water and oil temps? I get seriously worried when sat in traffic as everything seems to run so hot.

Picked some advisories, but thats expected with the age, but they're all simply solved. Now if i can just get the paintwork sorted to justify its now stunning mechanical condition

Its done it again! Despite the problems ive had with her over the years she's passed her MOT at the first time of asking for the 3rd year in a row! Check this saucy figures too: CO limit 3.5% Actual 0.7% HC limit 1200ppm Actual 48ppm Cant ask for more than that!

Well ive got it booked in today, found a garage that has a flatbed ramp and will do the brake test using a decelerometer as opposed to the brake rollers, so thats all good. I tend to get wound up when it does break down, but then when i sit back and look im often given plenty of time and opportunity to fix the impending breakdown. Like this time around it hadnt be starting up or running right for a month or 2, so i should have known it would let go, but i just didnt sort it at the time. Now as a result i have been left with a big garage bill (well not too big), but it could have been alot smaller if i had of addressed the problem myself earlier. I have come to realise though that if you let the maintenance slip even slightly they'll punish you for it, rado's that is. On the subject of top mounts, the ride comfort on my coilovers has deteriorated lately, they would much smoother when first installed, will replacement top mounts go someway to solving this?
-
I try to do as much work on it myself as i can, its been garage bound recently as ive moved house not so long ago so i dont have the time to fix it myself, and i also no longer have access to a 2nd car so i cannot spend the winter weeks/months waiting for the weather to become half decent. Didnt cost too much anyway. Collected it today after a new dizzy and HT leads, running like a dream now.

The timing couldn't be worse. The mot is due on weds and the weekend was supposed to be spent driving tovarious garages to make sure I could get it on the ramps. Now by the time I get it back the mot will have ran out, meaning technically I can't even drive it home from the garage.

I'm currently sat in a car park awaiting the arrival of the AA for the 5th time during corrado ownership. I've figured out that since owning the car I've rang them once every 4,000 miles. Is this getting silly now? I've rang them for: 1) burst water pipe 2) knackered alarm 3) oil pump failure 4) suspected dash fire (was a knackered switch) this is in addition to those roadside diy jobs. To top it off, I nipped out of work to book it in for an mot to be told it was too low for the ramps, and now it's knackered I can't even get it to an mot garage. Starting to think my car hates me.

WHAT?!?! Im rolling around with one of these stuck on mine daily!

Hey fella! Your Rado looks in good nick. Mine was looking a little ropey, hadnt been cleaned since crimbo. Sorry i didnt stop to chat, was late for the footy. I also saw another red rado on Sunday, down Findern way in Derby. and spotted a silver one tonight parked outside some flats, cant really remember where i was though, somewhere near town.

Formula 1 Pit Lane Blondes Game (New Schedule on Page 3)
skinnyman9000 replied to Storm Warning's topic in General Car Chat
BOOOOOOOM Thread resurrection! Im living with a pretty big F1 fan now, so we're taking up this game for the coming season. Have any changes/improvements been made? We're planning on substituting Fosters for something that doesnt taste like liquid cardboard -
My tornado red paintwork is shocking too, but i still rock around in my rado

The electrical connector, all the vacuum pipes have remained in place

Seem to have solved it already. Unplugged the over-run cut off valve, solve the running issues, so looks like i just need to get another one ordered
