Brando replied to vr6storm's topic in General Car Chat
21, 22 in 3 weeks Had as my own cars, bought by me with my own money; C-reg 1.3 Polo GL - with parachute ready for deployment incase u had to stop Ford Ka (new 1 years free insurance) Renault Clio 1.2 16v (current shape and again 1 years free insurance) My Corrado http://www.brando.barrysworld.net (2l 16v, Oz polarises (not in pic, vibratechnics front engine mount and brake conversion soon hopefully) Have driven 42 different cars (on the road) :), not bad for a 21 year old. Ranging from a tuned range rover to an brand new m3 (first person to drive it on a motorway: ironically the m3)! Porsche boxter 2.7 was the best SO BALANCED!!!!!!!! Given myself to 27 to get a porsche/ferrari or aston and gonna give up after that :-) (prolly get a disel golf and mortgage) -
Hi guys, I've got my old cda-1505r back from my clio and I want to install it in the Corrado. I cheated with the clio and wired it directly off the iso connector as oposed to directly from the battery. With the Corrado I want to do it properly. How best do I connect the leads to the battery and also, my negative lead has been cut quite short(thanks BMW), how best(to make it safe!) do I join the wires?? I take it that I need to connect the negative lead back to the battery?? and not chuck it back through the quite small gauge iso negative?? thanks in advance, Olly

Not sure tbh m8, how would I check. I put my car in for a service and the told me I had a cracked exhaust manifold but it wasn't anything serious yet. They just wanted me to be aware of it.

W00t, they are AVS Sports and they are defo properly worn in now!!!! They grip all day, very impressed specially for the price I got them. Did a quick google search and most places start at £95 not inc vat fitting or anything (postage) and I got them for 179.99 all in fitted with in 15 minutes of calling the ATS up, Cheers ATS of Blandford Forum!

I Had a dreaded puncture this w/e and the only tyres that could be fitted to my car for Monday where a set of yoko's 205/40 r17. The only ATS near by with the tyres instock, fitted and balanced them for £179.99 all in . Toyo Proxie P1s was my first choice but in every tyre place near me they would of taken a min of 2-3 days to get in:(. Not that I can do anything about it now, but I still value your guys opinions on Yokos [and previous experiences too]?? Fire Away, Olly

Lo fry, I think I may have seen u on my travels (live just near salisbury), a guy and his girl friend in a g60 waved at me and a green C (couldn't see the badge) waved at the round about at the end of Southampton Road (by tesco). All last week.

Insurance does my nutt really :( How can I drive both cars at the same time. I agree both could be stolen or damaged, so cover me for that.... Looking at a mini cooper S at the mo, but at 21 not many peeps want to insure me on it :(.
-
Any chance of getting the corrado on a limited milleage (say 6000 miles) classic car insurance policy. Who would be best to try it with??? :?: Reason being: I need to insure 2 cars and I am only 21 - what are my best options?? Spending far too much money on driving the C for 20,000 miles a year so gonna save it for the weekend if I can. I'd also like to do more to it myself and that means having it off the road some days, and its a 38 mile drive to work every day. :D (4 years no claims on my Corrado policy at the moment) Any Ideas........?

tell me about it - he wanted £30 inc vat for the throttle position switch too, despite Duncan getting his from a dealer for £14 inc. He also got arsey on the phone when I said all that he picked out of stores I didn't want because it was wrong :) Found the blue temp sensor for £7.45 ex-vat in eurocarparts so gonna grab it from there and talking to my local specialist about the throttle switch - I recon any micro switch would do. In which case 75p from maplin but I'd like to make sure first :)
-
Where are peeps getting replacement blue temp sensors from?? VW only want to sell me a whole kit for an arm and a leg?? (sozs to high jack the thread a tad)
-
And throttle position switch. I tried asking my local dealer and some TW@T of a grumpy old git quoted me £100+ for the throttle position switch????????? and £26 not inc vat for the temp sensor. Europarts?? Am I asking for the right things?? and could I use any micro switch from maplins for example??
-
Cheers m8, I figured those 2 things would be my next move. But I wondered before I did it if there could be any other things??
-
When starting not from cold it just starts straight away but I have noticed that it idles on the 3rd bar of the four that make up 1000rpm surely that would be 750rpm and too low???
-
I know there are loads of previous posts about this! I've cleaned my ISV, got a new a distributer (arm and cap inc). The car runs 100% fine after 2 mins But.... When starting from cold I have to use the gas pedal for it to take. Then it seems to run very rich and idles like a dog. If I let off it sometimes stalls to. After 2 mins all is fine and smooth, Idles at around 900-950?? Any ideas what it is most lilely to be and how best to go about fixing / bug finding??? (C in the Sig [2l 16v])

Seen 3 corrados so far - anyones from the forum? Green G60 plus 2 others
-
Nice colour m8!
-
Ahh but there is :) Just got off the phone to adrian flux :D £784 for the year! So just cancelled Tesco.
-
Firstly I am 21, but all the same...... To add a set of 17s to my corrado will cost me... £180! For 11 months AND!!!!! will double my excess then add another £100 on top. So instead of paying £960 (pretty good really (4 years no claims and one sp30) for the year and 300 excess, I would have to pay 700 excess and £1140 all for a set of 17 inch wheels I am buying for £300 :(. Any advice????
-
How can you tell your front engine mount has gone exactly??
-
Tends to be after I haven't used it for a while, so cold I guess..... How much are the temp sensors and how easy to replace - may just do it anyways to rule it out. thanks, Olly

Hi all, I have followed all the guides on idleing and so forth, but some times when I come to start the C I actually need to press the gas pedal to get it to catch. Not all the time but some time- Any ideas?? It runs sweet as a nutt after that usually. Do far I have cleaned the ISV and also cleaned up the distrinutor cap and rotor arm, plugs and ht lead (will replace them all at chrimbo) Any suggestions/ideas???
-
Cheers guys (specially Parody/aaron, thanks m8 awesome guide) - first pay check from new job comes in on the 20th of Sept so going to place my order then. The old front mount is squeaking on lift off at the mo and doing my nutt, plus I think there is excess vibration. Plus it's another thing that will be done in the long line of things to come :-). gotta luv C ownership 8) :)
-
I could defo be tempted. Not been to a meet up yet (and it's a reason I luv VWs so much - the peeps etc). Only had my C a month or so and been on the forums for 2 or so. Would be kewl to meet some of u all.
