I used to run 8x17 wheels with 32 offset, 205/40 tyres and standard arches. Never rubbed with a 50mm drop. Pirelli do a 195/40/17 tyre which will give you more breathing space, not that you'll need it. Like i said above, was thinking about going 8x16 ET 25 on the MO's but i'm not sure if thats going too far without arch work (trying to get that low/wide euro look),but if i can't get 5 spokes i'll probably keep my BBS RS301's & refurb them. trouble is there a pain in the arse to look after & there heavy @ 24Ibs a corner (i weighed them).. on top of that they take the edge off acceleration @ lower speeds & there not that easy to slam low, which is why i was considering seling up & going for the MO's.

Any idea what the ET would be on a 1" dish (8" rim) ? would an 8" rim fit straight on without arch work ? i'm in wheel limbo @ the moment, dunno if i should stick with the RS's or sell up & go for a set of 8x16 Compomotive MO's :|
-
Cheers for the info Kev..gutted they stopped making the 5 spoke in a 16 though, you absolutely positive about that ? if i bought these wheels i think they would have to be 16's,because like you pointed out weight issues & the fact 16's suit a Corrado better IMO as long as there wide &/or have the right offset to fill out the arches. Don't really mind the torque steer issues too much, was thinking of going for 8x16 ET25 but from what you said above looks like this may be a little extreme !

Right ok cool - feel like i'm getting somewhere @ last !
-
Got this offset thing sussed now... I thought a C VR6 was ET35,but it's ET43 ! (4 cylinder Corrado's are ET35) no wonder i didn't get any joy using the Wheel Offset Calculator
-
Cheers, I've always been a big fan of them on an Audi Quattro or Golf Rallye, but it's only recently i thought they look good on a C too (gotta be slammed low tho to work IMO).
-
What offset would you suggest ? the standard speedlines are rubbing on the rear springs slightly (hence the spacers !),so i assume 5mm extra on each corner needs to be added to the equation with the 16"s or 17"s too.. (BTW i got the invoice in the post this morn - cheers:))
-
Just to elaborate a little i'm looking to fill the arches out as much as poss with out major issues or work.. i'm undecided on 16"s or 17"s to close to call - leaning towards 16's as i'll be able to drop the car a little lower + the 17"s weigh 24Ibs,the 16"s 20.9Ibs...
-
Decided to sell my BBS 301's & buy one of the above  Anyone know what offset i need for the C VR6 ?
-
Nice one :salute:
-
Cheers,iridium it is then :)
-
Anyone know the advantages/disadvantages of each ? Part no's : Platinum - BKR5EKUP Iridium - BKR5EIX for the record they both cost around the same price (£6-£7 each)...
-
Just bought one last night :(

There's @ least 6 in central Newport currently,3 of which are friends - an N plate satin silver grant motorsport 2.016v (CF user name squirrel) an N plate ice violet vr6 a J plate aqua blue g60 a white valver, another J plate aqua blue g60 & a midnight blue not sure what it is but always round the back of the train station & mine. there's a few more besides those out malpas way, another highly modified g60 that never sees the light of day & an aqua blue vr6 with a ridiculously loud prospeed exhaust...i think that's being sold on though...
-
Yeah Bosch are reputably the ones to go for - thanks again..
-
Excellent - thanks for that !..BTW welcome to the ever expanding Newport corrado club
-
Where u find one @ that price dude ?
-
Any ideas on 125mph in a 70 ? :(
-
Don't do it  £150 is crazy money ! - i pay £35 for laser alignment & tracking...@ most you should be looking for no higher than £50 IMO.
-
Cheers man - so if my maths is right a 1.25" rim would make the total wheel width 8.25"..1.5" would be 8.5" & 2" dish makes 9" total width. whatcha reckon the rear dish size is on this -
-
Thanks for the replies guys - i'm looking to increase either just the rear or both front & rear wheels equally - not sure yet but i think i'm gonna go for stainless steel over alluminium because the rim's that where fitted when i bought them are way to soft for the roads round here ! do you know where i can get hold of some quality stainless steel rims in the UK ?

Anyone got any ideas ? - it's refurb time & i want to try something a little different

Can't Drop Rear Bilstein PSS Coilovers Low Enough...
AmbisoniK replied to AmbisoniK's topic in Drivetrain
Good to hear your gonna finish the project - should be awsome when completed ! had a quick scan on Vortex & found a usefull thread - http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2299447 Sounds like a bit of a no brainer to me - time to remove those little critters & get some proper ride height  -
Can't Drop Rear Bilstein PSS Coilovers Low Enough...
AmbisoniK replied to AmbisoniK's topic in Drivetrain
Cheers for the reply - some seriously helpfull info there ! yeah your right about the springs - the dampers are fairly hefty too  i assume if you remove the helper springs then your gonna sacrifice some refinement/comfort,but will prob gain 2-3 inches of drop ?,which would be way more than enough for me. [Off Topic] i read somewhere your car was up for sale - hope you changed your mind after - that's one unique badass motor you have there dude :notworthy: -
Got a serious problem with my Bilstein PSS coilovers - they won't go low enough :( more specifically the thread on the rear dampers run's out @ approx 62cm (measurement from floor to center of arch),where as the front dampers still have 2"-3"'s of thread left ! - surely this can't be right ? if anyone has any experience of these coilovers your thoughts would be greatly appreciated as i'm starting to think i may have the wrong rear dampers for my car
