Wow, blast from the past! I posted the original topic over 3 years ago, my first post as well  My VR6 ended up going to Inch in Bathgate for all the work I had done on it (a lot in the two years I owned it!).

As has already been said, the GTX is a great car, I owned a lovely metallic grey/blue 1988 1.8 GTX for 4 years, in which time it was absolutely bulletproof - I put 50K miles on it without any real problems - wish I could say the same for the VR6! The brakes are poor in comparison to a modern car (and even the Corrado - awaits flaming  ), but the 8V engine is fairly torquey and easy to live with. You'll also see mpg figures in the mid to high 30s. My old car, sadly missed :(

The V5 is effectively the V6 minus a cylinder (according to evo 75 January 2005):

The CTR doesn't have an LSD, well, not the UK ones anyway. If you want a CTR with an LSD you'll have to get a Japanese import. The Integra on the other hand has an LSD, and it makes a huge difference to the handling. Speaking from personal experience, a VR6 has lovely handling, but an ITR will leave it for dead in the twisty stuff. Let someone I know have a shot of my ITR recently (he owns a Clio Cup and a VX220) and he was amazed at the grip levels that the LSD provide. A couple of times on the tighter corners that he'd misjudged the entry speed of, he was amazed that the front end just stuck (I think he was expecting me to point out that the bend was tighter than he was expecting, but then I know what the car is capable of  ) I know there's a whole VW/Honda rivalry, but there are a lot of people who are keen to condemn the other car without any experience. Just enjoy the car you drive, everyone knows the Corrado is a classic, doesn't mean that other cars that give their performance in a different way can't be good too

I like  Looking very tidy, hope you're still enjoying it as much as ever :) Really miss that car sometimes...

This week's Autosport magazine has an advert for a company called Saxon Motorsport (link) with a nice pic of a racing spec Corrado. Turns out they're offering a year's season racing in the VW Cup (presumably in a Corrado!) for 1 lucky sod... Got to be under 24, and probably have at least some talent... Ts & Cs on the website. Successful applicants can sign over 50% of their career earnings to me if they reach F1  They could also do with a proofreader for their website, might put my name forward for that one.... VR6 - 18th coolest car in the world ever! (officially!)
Vmax replied to chrishill's topic in General Car Chat
Number 52 :notworthy: Coolest car ever made 8) Not sure about some of the choices though, the Honda Accord Type S? Jamie -
Its on tomorrow at like 11:25pm on BBC2 again Thanks, good man :D
-
Any idea if Top Gear is repeated at any point during the week? Failing that, anyone know where I would be able to download a copy of tonight's show? Cheers, Jamie

The black G60 is stunning, looks lovely in those pictures :notworthy: :luvlove: Wheels are superb too, always had a soft spot for that style of wheel after having a set of Castellets on my old Scirocco GTX... Jamie

Fuel economy figure to rival an F-16 on full re-heat

10.5 mpg in the VR6 en route to the top of the Kirkstone Pass from Ambleside (Lake district) last summer  Coming down was fun though  Jamie -
Just been browsing Wikipedia and discovered an entry for the Corrado here . Might be nice to add a link to the forums and maybe stick up a few nice pics of each model if anyone knows how to edit Wiki pages. Would offer to do it myself, but never actually created any Wiki pages yet  Jamie

There are a few Integras about up here, but they all seem to be Championship White :? As for the 4WD, well, I tried an Evo 8 FQ330 (decatted, the salesman reckoned it had 340bhp  ) earlier this year, and that left a lasting impression! Short of winning the lottery a secondhand Evo 6 or Impreza RB5 is what I'd look at next 8) The R32 can wait until I'm old and need a bit more comfort  Jamie

Speaking as a Teg (and former VR6) owner, you'd be very lucky to find any sort of reasonable Integra for £5k (maybe an import Si, but certainly not a Type R), the cheapest I've seen for UK cars is 6.5K upwards. Not personally a big fan of the FTO, for an import there are a helluva lot about, whereas my red Teg is one of only 3 I've seen on the road! The Teg definitely needs to be pushed to get the best out of it, but the handling is incredibly rewarding and despite being more edgy than the Corrado it's perfectly controllable. Point to point the Teg is the faster car, assuming standard spec of course. It's not as good an all rounder as the VR though, so it really depends on what you want out of a car. Having owned my VR for 2 years I thought it was time for a change, and although I love the Teg, I do still miss the overall ability of the Corrado. Then again, I guess I can claim to have owned the best 2 handling FWD cars made :) Gonna have to be a 4WD next  Jamie
-
Cool, sounds good! Would certainly be interested to see what the Teg is putting out, though I'm still not convinced it's as powerful as the VR6 :? Torque figure should give the VR owners a laugh though  Jamie 2000 Milano Red Honda Integra Type-R

Cheers Roddy, is it a Corrado Club day or just a forums one? The Corrado Club RR day I went to last Feb/March time was good, nice to see so many Corrado's together 8) Still miss the old VR, but nice to see Glenn's got it looking so good! If only my Teg looked that clean  Jamie 2000 Milano Red Honda Integra Type-R

Looking good Glenn! 8) Looks good with the silver badges front and back, and I take it you replaced the front foglight too? Nice setting too! Making me wish I'd never sold it...  Any luck selling the valver yet? Jamie 2000 Milano Red Honda Integra Type-R

VR is looking good Glenn, really like the silver VW badge on it :) Looks like you've got the bits of trim for the sides as well? What's the problem with the ABS? I know the brakes weren't up to much before I sold the car, but never saw the ABS light on :? Anyway, car is looking good, glad to hear you're enjoying it as much as I did! Just remembered I never did get round to sending you that bottle of T-Cut - I'll post it on if you want to PM me your address. Jamie 2000 Milano red Integra Type-R Ex '93 Aqua blue VR6

I made this very choice only a couple of weeks ago, in the end I went for the Integra Type R (DC2) to replace my VR6 - for sale as soon as I can get around to it :) The Integra is a very different car to the VR, nothing like as relaxing to drive, but on the right road it is pretty sensational. It is VERY noisy at motorway speeds, but most of my journeys are quite short, although I will miss the effortless nature of the Corrado. Would be very interested to hear what engine is in this, anyone think it's a souped up TDi with the R32 body? Had a look at the pics in the magazine, it certainly looks like an authentic R32, no pics of the engine though :? Funnily enough, there's a nice silver R32 parked outside my flat just now 8) Think it's a petrol one though  Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

Anyone ever heard of an R32 diesel? I certainly hadn't, but just spotted this: click here! on Autotrader. 1 of only 5 made?! Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6 *Mod edit - Link shortened - Henny*

There was a 2.0 8V auto going for sale in the Scottish Auto Trader recently, can't imagine that being too quick... Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

I saw a variant of the BAD BOY number plate on a black 355 in Edinburgh at the weekend, can't remember what the exact plate was, but definitely something very close! Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6 -
Doh! Could have sworn it was blue.... Nice car all the same :thumbleft: There are some really nice drivers roads around the Borders 8) Not too many cameras either, if you avoid the A1 / A68 / A7. Jamie
