Hmmm, auction ended and only the 1 bidder  Guess I missed out on my chance to put in a late winning bid  Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

We have a bidder...   Anyone dare to own up?! Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

Ouch, sounds painful! And there was me thinking of trading up to an Evo some day  The horizontal blade of the Evo 8 wing is carbon fibre isn't it? Wouldn't even like to hazard a guess at that! This month's evo (the magazine, not the car!) has an article about the Lotus 340R they're got as their long term test car - one of their writers had a minor prang at a track day, total cost to repair nearly £9.5K!!! Sort of puts my minor problems with the VR6 in perspective  Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

Just found this linked from another site - how to build your own Merc SLR: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=848531  Bet McLaren / Mercedes are delighted about this... Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

Read about this over on the Evo forums, sounds nasty  Do I remember correctly that the car was eventually recovered? Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

Considering saving the pennies for an Evo in a couple of years time, the VR6 is fast, but the Evo VI  , now that is a seriously fast car... Not sure if I could live with as a daily driver tho :? Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

The Renault 19 16V (circa 1991) was a nice car, friend of mine had one (same colour as my VR6 in fact). Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

Don't think there was ever a 24V while the Corrado was on sale, it was certainly planned however - take a look at the second article down on this page . The R32 has a 24V version of the engine now though :D Jamie

Spot on! :thumb right: Just had the slave cylinder replaced today, apparently it had been leaking, so that's why the clutch became so tricky. Cheers, Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

Cheers Roddy, I'm not the most knowledgeable about what goes on under the bonnet :? Car is going in ASAP, so fingers crossed it's not too painful. Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

Since last Monday, it's been getting harder and harder to find a gear in my VR6. The gearchange used to be really fluid, but it's been getting progressively harder to select any gear at all. The clutch now has about 50% dead travel, there is only resistance after pressing the pedal halfway down. Anyone got any suggestions as to what the problem is - the car's going into the garage in the next week, so would appreciate any ideas on what's up. Is it likely to just be the clutch cable that needs replaced, or does it look like I need a whole new clutch  ? Cheers, Jamie '93 Aqua blue VR6

Browsing ebay, came across this model for sale: Ebay corrado model It's a Welly Toys Corrado model, pull back and go :) Only 1 bid so far (£0.99)... Should point out that this auction is nothing to do with me, bid at your own risk... Jamie

Spotted 2 so far, a nice silver one at the weekend in the Borders, and a couple of weeks ago, a black one in Livingston (figured it was an R32 when it kept pace with me leaving a 30 limit, confirmed when I eased off at 70 when he went past). Nice car, would certainly consider one (if I had the cash), but it's a bit on the heavy side isn't it? 1500kg  Jamie

Scottish region rolling-road figures.....let see yours then!

Roddy, I'm the quiet one  who looked a bit lost amongst the real car buffs... I mentioned to Jim about my engine's appetite for oil, he reckoned that maybe it was starting to wear a bit (going oval was the expression he used  ). He also tried to convince me to go for a VSR by overlaying the plot of one he'd done recently on top of mine - now if only I could afford the £1500 or so! Jamie -

Nice meeting you all yesterday, very nice Storm BTW Roddy :thumbleft: Was pleasantly surprised with my VR6, although it does seem a bit down on torque for some reason. Norm. power: 191.0 BHP to DIN 70020 Engine output:196.0BHP Wheel Output:147.0BHP Max power at 111mph or 5820rpm Torque M: 175lb/ft :( Max torque at 87mph or 4580rpm Have got some pictures I will upload when I get a chance. Doh! Just checked this again before heading off to Glenrothes tomorrow... only to find it's on Sunday  Glad I checked now  Jamie

Thanks, they were both great cars to own, the GT was my first decent car after a couple of Polos. The GTX was just a joy to own, it was heartbreaking to have to sell it last year (and I only got £800 for it  ) Jamie
-
No, I had planned to try and make it, but for some reason (can't remember now) I couldn't make it. Got a bit more time on my hands this year, so hopefully should make it to a few more meets (enjoyed the drive down to Biggar a lot last year, one of the last drives in my faithful old Scirocco). Cheers, Jamie

I owned 2 Sciroccos before the VR6. The first was a 1989 1.8GT, nice car but not the most reliable. Owned it for 2 years, put about 20k on the clock then upgraded to an '88 1.8GTX, quite possibly the best car I've owned. I had it for 4 years, the reliability was simply awesome, it never let me down. The GT (prior to fiiting a set of Pirelli P alloys): The GTX: Jamie

Having only recently joined CCGB, I'm quite keen to take the VR6 up for the day. It's an absolutely bog standard car though, with the exception of a K&N panel air filter. Would be nice to see what it's putting out though (although I suspect it's nowhere near what it should be :( ) Never been to one of these meets (although I did ogle the small collection of Corrados in Biggar last year :thumb right: ), so looking forward to meeting you all and seeing your wheels :D Jamie

Hmm, the author of that article is the same guy that wrote "VW Power and Style", definitely a book to check out if you're at all into VWs :) Jamie

You mean you don't like it?
