  1. He kept changing his trading name.. when I was dealing with him his name was s_wrks but he changed it to vmaxgti the day after I had him arrested. http://contact.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI. ... ed=vmaxgti He's now no longer registered so I can't monitor him. The police are though as he has several accounts. Suggest you don't contact him (don't think you could unless you had his email address) as the police are still monitoring his accounts. 2 stolen cars and three stolen motorbikes were recovered. Pikey scum from Thamesmead..
  2. Sorry to hear that mate.. I had my motorbike stolen in January. I found it being sold in parts on ebay a couple of weeks later  I managed to get the guys address and harass the police to do a raid and the bike was partially recovered. He's out on bail now still trading on ebay  Keep an eye on ebay. If you find parts DO A PRIVATE OPERATION. Be careful about how you engage the police. Do not exepct ANY help from ebay at all either..
  3. Unlikely to be doing trackdays. The thought is tempting but I can do track days on my supermoto for £50 so the idea of spending £150+ doesn't really appeal. I imagine the S2000 could do track time pretty well, perhaps not as well as the Lotus but it's not really a deciding factor for me!
  4. I don't know if just this forum in general but I get the impression that people here have good unbiased opinions about cars. I'm looking to replace my VR6 (still for sale BTW) with an more impracticle car  I only do about 2-3k per year so practicality I can live without. I'd narrowed my selection down to either a Lotus Elise 111s or a Honda S2000. I was very keen on the Lotus for a while but I do spend time in London with work and I really don't want problems with parking and people breaking the clamshells or constant resprays. Also I think when I'm not in the mood the car could be a bit tiring. The Honda on the other hand has good performance, Honda reliability and more creature comforts and I'm now leaning towards this instead. I know it's a bit 'hairdresserish' but I don't really care as I buy cars for performance and value rather than looks. I've been lurking on the Honda forums and looking for common faults and whilst there are a few they seem relatively bulletproof, though some may burn some oil. I'd appreciate any advice you guys can give. My budget is semi flexible and my main criteria is a low mileage car that will not depreciate quickly. This probably put's me in the 99, 00 years of car. What do you guys reckon to them? How does the real world performance stand up? Cheers
  5. Cheers - great advice.. I've got both licences now and I've done the rally. All cars are obtainable now so I'm happy! Where abouts is the HPA Racing area? Not impressed with my tuned S2000 though. The real thing better not be such a disapointment  Awesome game.. can't believe the graphics are that good. I've not played games for several years and the difference really shows.
  6. Can any of you gurus give me some tips for progressing in this game? I bought it yesterday and started from scratch. I have an 87' RX7 which served me ok in the eary stages, I've bought a skyline which I've tuned to about 480hp which is ok for some of the professional races. I know I need to keep at it but I don't get a lot of time to play and will lose interest if I have to spend ages doing the same races to earn cash. Do I just need to complete the beginner events to get a fast enough car to tackle the pro series or is there a better strategy? I suppose I need to get my A class licence as well
  7. I had a chat with the guy as well. In short theres no exact criteria that decides whether either the car is eligible or the owner is eligible for the policy. It all depends on the criteria set out by the underwriter. In MY case; 29 years old No claims No convitions garaged car Limited mileage policy Access to other vehicles 1993 registered car They ran it throught the the mill and Chorsa underwrote my car using Carolenash as an intermediary. I thought wrongly that there were hard and fast rules as to what was a classic car but I was wrong!
  8. http://www.carolenash.com/ The underwriter is Chorsa (sp?) The only insurance company I would ever recommend. They have handled a claim on my motorbike theft very slickly. Not often you say that about an insurance company
  9. I was chatting to my insurance company today who cover my Corrado on a classic policy. I was talking to them about the policy and I discovered something quite interesting. When you take out a classic policy with Carole Nash (Chorsa as underwriters) on a Corrado it is not calculated using your NCB as a factor. Why is the of interest? Well it means that you can, in theory, buy a Corrado, have no NCB and insure it fully comp for £500 ish.. Obviously there are limitation on it's use but I thought thats quite tempting to people without a lot of NCB. I do think you need to be over 25 but still a good deal IMO
  10. Thanks a lot guys.. It was the pipe that leads to the heater that failed. It sheared off when the AA guy was messing around with it. I've cut about two inches off the end and it's fine now. I'll get a replacement hose but it good for now. Did all the repairs in the car pound. Well I had to pay to be there and it was well lit so I may as well get value for money! Still had to pay £200 but I reckon I will get it back as Lambeth are so corrupt that they have so many cases to go through they just buckle. I'll post a pic of my permit tommorow. It really is comedy how petty some people can be.
  11. I'm going to be selling my 78k FVWSH VR6 in the next few weeks. If anyone's interested in taking it off me earlier please let me know. First to give me 5k has the car! NO OFFERS below. Just bought a new windscreen and lupo wipers for it as well.
  12. Dammit.. why does bad luck happen in threes  I hope it is something like you mention. I imagine the water pump is low down in the block and would not cause a lot a steam if it failed.
  13. Just searching the archive and wondered where the auxiliary water pump is? If there was steam coming off the block could the be a hose be leaking? Surely if the main water pump failed the water would just fall out and there would not be steam everywhere?
  14. Typical bad timing my corrado has decided to give me some grief the one time I really need it at the weekend. I was driving home tonight quickly but not ragging it. It was a short hop and the oil was only about 80 degrees. When I pulled up at the lights I thought I had smoke coming from the engine. I was relieved to find out it was only steam when I opened the bonnet. I noticed liquid draining from the bottom of the car. I was coolant and it looked clear. I released the overflow cap and let the pressure out. I let the car cool a bit and then restarted the engine. It sounded a little noisy from the drivers side at the front. Is this where the pump is located? The car seemed to not be leaking so I went home the remaining mile smoothly. The water pressure was about 90-100 degrees and the oil rose to about 100. As I pulled up at my location it was steaming a bit but didn't apear to be leaking. Before this the car has always been good as gold. The car has 76k on it and I think the pump was replaced before but I'll need to check. I've never had this happen before so I'm not sure what it could be. It's dark right now so I can't check until later. I'm guessing it can't be the head gasket as the overflow coolant looked clear and the leaking coolant clean. Also gasket failure would not cause a leak I guess. Last week after sitting in a traffic jam for an hour and half the coolant warning light came on. When I got home I topped up the overflow when the car was cool. (but not cold) to the mid point. Did I overfill it? I really need to get this sorted by the weekend so any advise would be appreciated. I think the car knew I was thinking of selling it. Even after treating it to a new windscreen and Lupo wiper conversion yesterday
  15. I asked the same question at the dealers and they looked at me funny. 'Wiperblades are wiperblades' was their response. Didn't seem like a stupid question to me  I have standard lupo blades if it helps. I don't think there's a difference. Please post otherwise as there's no wind deflector on my set.
  16. Well I have one of each and it seems to sweep perfectly. Doesn't hit anything and goes right to the edges.. but not over. New windscreen fitted today and it rained :D Perfect vision Never though I'd be happy to see rain.
  17. Well as promised I've just picked a set up from VM Morden (South London) The parts numbers you need are 6x2998406 6x2998405 This is the arm and the blade. The cost is £18.06 a side plus VAT. They have 9 pairs left in stock but unfortuantely they don't deliver.
  18. Cheers - I'm visiting the garage on saturday. I'm having a new windscreen fitted and seems like a good idea to do the conversion as well. I'll check it out then and post part numbers.. :)
  19. Can someone please confirm I just need to order the WIPER ARM and WIPER BLADE. - as a set if available? I DONT need to order a spindle or anything else? If so I'll tell you all where you can get a kit for £18:06 per side ;)
  20. So I see from your sig.. I must admit much as I love the laziness of the VR6 I think on the whole I'm a revs man. I think a TVR vs a Honda S2000 are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. The most fun I've ever had driving is in a Honda CRX SRi (160hp) on my own at night. I'd love a big bore TVR but I'd probably not choose one. I'm not too fussed how it sounds.. as long as it goes well and is fun to drive. I think the Lotus would fit the bill pretty well. Either way I'll be test driving one soon to be sure.
  21. Yeah yeah.. somehow I don't think my budget will stretch that far!
  22. Cheers guys. Thats why I posted on here, I like getting honest neutral feedback rather than baised info. I've seen that you can upgrade the gasket which might help. But I'm not keen on preventative head gasket changes on a new toy. As I live in London the engine will run hot so I imagine this is also not good I'm 6.1 but cars are a luxury to me so provided I can fit alls good. I guess the only way to find out is to get in one. I must admit I'm being won over by the VX220. They have 2.2l engines do they not? Surely they would slaughter the elise in performance or does the extra weight and slower reving engine play it's part? Noone has mentioned the ride height? How bad are they? I think I've seen an elise creeping over the bumps on my street before. I would prefer an S2 purely because it has more of the problems of the S1 ironed out. That said a well cared for (properly maintained) S1 would be fine, but I don't think I could afford one of the Toyota engined models.
  23. Thanks Andy, google it seems is my friend and I've found a link from Autotrader thats got me on the research trail. Thanks for the links. Ideally I'd like to spend around the 10-11k mark. Not a big fan of vauxhalls though I appreciate the 220 is a good car.
  24. Also - IMPORTANT, how low are they? I live in London and my VR6 (standard suspension) is ok with speedbumps but only just!
