Well much as I hate depreciation it does make dreams come true  I've been noticing Lotus Elises are now affordable. However I don't know a hell of a lot about them. I love the corrado but I fancy something impracticle. I have an insurance payout for a broken back coming my way and I fancy something stupid. I've allways loved the looks of Elises and I like the simplicity of them. I've been looking on the net and I can't find any forums about them. Can any of you guys provide any info about them? Sort of stuff I'm interested in is model changes, power hikes, variable valve intoductions etc.. I know they're totally impracticle but I do a very low mileage so can probably live with it. How well do these things last? It's a Rover K series engine right? Thanks!

For those who don't approve of road racing.. don't look here

 Sorry - fixed it now! -
And fixing it is a bitch of a fiddly job so it could end up worse rather than better  Keep greasing and praying...

You can get it right up by coasting instead of using engine braking.

Found out the hard way last night the fuel level is a little misleading. When it looks like it's slightly above the white line I thought I'd have some fuel left. Well in Knightsbridge I realised the car was loosing power. I managed to get the car all the way to Chelsea bridge and then it stalled and I had to freewheel all the way to the shell garage at the bottom of the hill. Managed to stop right at the Optimax pump as well !! Saw another Corrado cruising past me at the time. Anyone off here? Anyway stuck some Optimax in and gave it some revs and it seems happy enough. Should I put through a bottle of injector cleaner or is it just a matter of getting on with it again?

Sure it wasn't a nissan Sunny GTiR? I used to have one and it was faster than my Vr6 by a long shot.. pretty crap drive though..

I'm 6'1 and have no problem. I have the seat quite high as well, you sure your adjuster handle hasn't fallen off

Guys - scuse my ignorance but is the procedure any different for VR6 lumps? You guys run G60's right? I think my front mount is up for replacement and I was planning on putting a standard VW mount in there as the engine's not tuned. I want a smooth ride rather than stiff chassis.

Strip it and grease it well!!! then grease it some more! Do it now or regret the hastle of a rebuild! Either that or your motor is on the way out.

love speed??? then what you need is a ford granada

Love that story.. fair play to the bloke though. What a way to go out! Kept a 67 Chevy impala straight for 2.6 miles doing 250+ mph!! at least the guy could drive.. wonder what would of happened if he had european brakes  -
hmmm.. where do I fit in here? I used to have a CRX VTEC and absolutely loved it. I now have a Corrado and love it too but the driving experiences are totally different. VTECs make you feel like you going faster and its more rewarding to feel like your driving the car to the limit (whatever the car). However for the type of driving I do most of the time having a big V6 is so much simpler but equally effective. People get so hung up on horsepower this and 0-60 that when it's grins per mile that real enthusiasts look for.

Is anyone on here in London with the OBD1 (?) style connector VAG-COM kit? I'd like to get the car checked out. No problem but performance seems a bit down on my VR6. Happy to travel inside M25 to meet you or Buckinghamshire way is also good.. Cheers and beer tokens offered!!

Any of you good London people got a workshop  I have to drive to my parents place in the country to work on it.. Not having a garage sucks!!

Corrado As 2nd Car Classic Insurance Cost?
Rawhide replied to belfastfumanchu's topic in General Car Chat
I've got a classic policy with Carole Nash. It cost about £400 and something quid. 93' VR6 I'm 28, full NCB and no convictions. Garaged, good postcode. I also insure my bike with them and they're quite good. -

Having dilemmas, thinking of selling my baby...

Oh sorry  It's a 93 VR6 -
Hi Guys, I having some dilemas about my Corrado. I have had it for about a year and a half now and I am thinking of letting it go :( I've posted this in the general section rather than sales and wants as I'm not sure of the car's value... The reason being is that I don't ever use it and I need another vehicle that I could get more use out of. I bought it a couple of years ago. I live in London and I don't need a car for work. I have a motorbike for kicks and I only bought a car again to keep up my NCB. I bought the car of another guy who was the first owner of the vehicle. He worked for Barrings Banks so it was a company car (nice huh!) When Barring went belly up thanks to Nick Leeson he bought the car from the company. So it has therefore had a full extensive no expence spared service history. (Last bill was £1200!) I have all the documentation to prove all of this. In short I am the second owner from new! I only use the car to travel out of London to Bucks so it has no condensation problems with the engine being only occasionally used etc. I had a new battery fitted when I bought it and it starts no problem first time. I am thinking of selling to buy a 4x4 or ideally a pickup type vehicle that can take a Motox bike on the back. The car drives faultlessly and is very smooth. It has only 74k miles on the clock and I bought it with 70k on it. It does need a service but passed its MOT no problem last month without problems. The faults!; Being honest here as theres no point in not being. The sunroof was broken when I bought the car. The fault was with the cable guides. I replaced them both with the repair kit and it operated ok out of the car, tilted, slided etc but when I re-installed it I didn't grease the channels that they ran in very well. Hence it pulls out of allignment. I might fix this but to be honest it's finding the time to do it that difficult. The car has a few scuffs on the bumpers. They're not serious and could be touched up quite easily. I might get a quote from a bodyshop to get them both done. There are also a few dings in the door panels. Very minor and you can only see them when the sun catches at that certain angle.. The sump gasket has a slight leak. I will probably get this done before I sell. It's an easy job, just messy. The original speedline alloys are in need of a refurb. I have put on some Fox 4 alloy wheels instead. They are in as new condition and have no scuffs. Thats about it! The car is not mint but certainly a very clean car for it age. The interior is in very good condition. Engine and everything else is as VW intended. So that's my car.. what do you think? Am I a fool to sell a car that will probably never depreciate (assuming I don't drive it much) or should I keep insuring something I rarely use  How much should I ask do you think? Pics, are here; pics thumbnailed-vr6storm

Surely it would be cheaper to get my 93'k plate overhauled, resprayed, and buy a new 2.9 engine from VW than pay that money!

I was down there today drag racing my supermotard. I saw a red corrado on a M plate I think. I guess it was a 16v as it only said corrado on the rear. You looked like you were going well. To anyone who hasn't tried this I reccomend it highly. Never been before and trying to launch a motard without flipping it is highly amusing. Quite chuffed with my 12.84 at 100mph :) Not bad for a dirtbike! Next time I think I'll take the VR6 8)

Corrado Air con systems. Just how good are they?
Rawhide replied to Rawhide's topic in General Car Chat
I'm thinking of Marbella area. My girlfriend lives there and the airfares are getting a bit expensive :? Not got a job to go to though so it's just an idea at the moment. Thanks for the info. Sounds like the system is up to the job :D Any ideas how much of a dent in the MPG it makes? We're probably the wrong lot to ask living in blighty where you only use the air con once or twice a year :) -
Reason I ask is that all cars I've had the air con has been variable. The modern cars seem to have fridgelike air con that works really well and doesn't make a big dent in the MPG. Older cars the air con does the job eventually but realy isn't great and sucks juice. I am toying with the idea of moving to Spain and I will need a car. My Vr6 doesn't have air con but if possible I would like to keep with the corrado. However if it's more trouble than it's worth I won't bother. Whats the verdict?

Hmm.. I think I'll try and tackle these bolts first. I've too often been beaten by bolts and had to re-assemble and take to a garage to sort out  Thanks for the advice so far..
