  1. Thats the thing isnt it. The perk to it is the bit you only know when driving the thing. I dont think they sound as good as a vr. They should drink similar pints of petrol and are still heavy lumps of metal. A bit lighter yes. I want one. My brother had a 24v golf from new and it revvvved endlessly but it was in a totally different outfit and as such, no comparison. Just standard numb!
  2. Thats true. Theres got to be 20, 24v builds on going and maybe 10 r32 types fighting the engine gremlins! Logic dictates that there should be some 24v car for sale in 6 months or so! I wish. I have yet to see someone put the later dials in a corrado dash to a spot on finish?
  3. Id like to know too. Quiet and smooth with so much more low down grunt is what is said. Thing is I have also witnessed quite a few 24v cars get sold shortly after completion. Obviously peoples situations change but whats the story with these cars. A search will mostly find lots of build threads.
  4. Theres lots of info on R32 projects doing and very little on ones actually done. Bigpants baby has one done. If the other 24v motors are anything to go by its a different league to a stock vr.
  5. I would say sell it as a conversion all in if it was me as Id end up with the leftovers no-one wants but as you break cars anyway im not sure. Also everyone seems to be in an r32 frenzy so a 2.8 may get overlooked. How about doing the conversion on a corrado as the cars are so cheap at the moment and 24v corrados seem to get much more money. Id love the engine myself if only other things would stop needing fixing. How many miles has it done and im wondering how much my motor would fetch?
  6. I have porsche cup 2s on mine and am considering gun metal for the inners and a polished rim. Would like to see how yours turn out. And its on an aqua blue vr. Thinking we are peas in a pod!
  7. You beat me you swine!! Sure it is a vr beam as it is from a regular on here. See my I want a vr beam thread. On the other hand it may not be one and I will take it off your hands for a fiver.
  8. Thats correct. Checked with vw today. There was a new rear beam on ebay. Wish it was a vr model.
  9. Can anyone help me identify a Mk3 rear beam by the number 1H0 500 051S. Would help me loads.
  10. My choice would have to be the rolls royce that makes the spitfire into perfection. Would 2 vr6 engines with no exhaust sound something like it!!
  11. Why on earth should massa be granted the win when hamilton did nothing effectively to gain time on him. It should be a matter of the two cars involved and a place altering procedure when the race finishes assuming the cars in question finish! And I agree with corozins views on motor racing. The touring cars a knock hill this year saw a super roughing up of Jason Plato but the support vauxhalls. Needs must it seems.
  12. Mines doing it too. Have put it down to condensation down the spark plug holes which drys out when the engine gets warm. Someone suggested a small spray of WD40 to act as a repellant but im not sure.
  13. A Farmer I know has a set of those alloys kicking around in his paddock. Corroded but would clean up great!
  14. As I recall there is a white push on clothes peg like thing on one end of the fuse box which needs to be removed before the box will lift up and out of its cage. Think its on the bonnet release end.
  15. It was a vr conversion before the structure Started needing welding work for each MOT and I gave up and bought the corrado. The dash is too wide period. You will need to move the mirror moves back about 2 inches and sort out some way if modifying the door cards to allow for the width. I cut mine and made up recessed door cards but never really got it spot on.
  16. I have been there and done that and it takes ages to get it right and even longer to run custom ducting for the air vents and stuff. Would not do it again. You will have to cut lots of dash front the windscreen and I used the point where the uncut sides meet the door seals as a permanent guide to alignment. Dont try to marry the dash to the center tunnel as the dash will sit about 3 inches higher so I mated the mk2 gear lever surround to the bottom of the dash and it looked spot on. You will also have to deal with the fact that the dash is wider and interfears with the door cards.
  17. He has done it in chalk so he can rectify it later with VR6.
  18. I had the same thought as my dads mk 3.5 cab has them. Had a little experiment. The bulbs fit in the same but you have to cut a pill shaped hole in the wing to fit them properly. They dont cost much from vw either. Suits the slight curves of a corrado I think.

    corsa seats

Some of the peugeot 207 gtis could be upgraded with the same recaro seats which should widen your search.
  20. Got a new steering rack to fit which must be the worst job on these cars! Need to bend my replacement cat away from the tunnel.
  21. Won my girlfriend over! Mostly because of vr noise.
  22. The people next door to me have 2 fully grown and one nearly big, just like that. They are the biggest nancies on earth. Look vicious though but soft as!
  23. You can tell them apart by looking at the hole where the throttle body goes at the back of the manifold. OBD1 ones have a tube coming out of the manifold on the expansion tank side for the idle control gubbins. OBD2 does not as the idle is sorted by the trottle body itself.
  24. Dinkus has 2 delorean or deloreans. Must be a back to the future fan! :)
  25. I gave it some thought recently. Wheel size is good but whether it fitted was always a bit of a grey area. I considered mounting an aftermarket boss slip ring to a modern wheel to rig up a horn but went cold on the idea. Id be interested in the results if you give it a go.
