  1. Remove the rear calipers and carriers by undoing the 2 bolts on the carrier to caliper and the 2 hex bolts from carrier to suspension arm. Now tap off the grease cap from the center of the disc by tapping one side then the other. Then unbend the split pin from under the cap and withdraw the locking cap. Undo the nut and remove. The brake disc will now pull straight off easily. Refit is the above in reverse. Do not tighten the nut as you will damage the bearings! only a strong finger tight. Renew the split pin and recharge the end cap with grease but not packed with grease. Thats how its done.
  2. Spend a little money on a cheep, tatty, 8v mk2 gti which covers those vital first yards as fast as anything on the road and hold your line. Im betting 25 grand TT gives way to 500 pound golf. If he does not then you have a crash at slow speed, he/she gets a messed up car and buys you another one as hes/shes in the wrong according to the highway code.

    FOOT PEDALS

I think TT pedals look good in corrados. Nice touch of polished metal and very oem. I have had no issues with fitment or them coming off but think I had to put a little more curve into the throttle cover to fit well. Part numbers are; 8N0721174A01C PEDAL x2 8N1721647B CAP x1
  4. Thats better. You too are really bold personalities and this forum is better off with some people who put across there knowledge and strongly justify there choices. :notworthy:
  5. Tom, from my experience it makes no difference to the oil temperature. You would think a larger volume by a whole litre would mean it works less hard but not in reality.
  6. Thanks guys. Think thats most the bases covered on sumps and stuff. The options are there for people to explore. Vr6 engines in reality dont need baffled sumps except for extreme track situations. Standards can be modified, 4Motions area straight swap alloy and R32s need extra bits but are less likely to ground out. Best not to ground either really.
  7. I have used dirty old engine oil in the past and its done an awsome job and lasted for a good while.
  8. Im not sure about this but I think I read somewhere that retro fitting cruise control was illegal or something. Not sure about this as lots of people sell kits for mk4 and mk5 golfs.
  9. O my god. How far is tooo far. Looks amzing and what an awsome colour. It would be a show winner where ever it went.
  10. The oil temp thing was being discussed on another thread a long time ago about alloy sumps running cooler because of the 1 litre extra volume and potential cooling because of the alloy itself. Just stating it makes bog all difference. Mine definately has more than 2 baffles though. And good to meet you at the rolling road day. Your performance on the RR was amazing for the power and lack of any real drama whilst doing it.
  11. Had a look under my car at the sump. Numbers painted on the side reads 021 103 601l and needs no other alterations other than sticking on. No sensor hole. If someone could verify what it is as Im going on a number the last owner painted on the side, that would be helpful. Hope it helps.
  12. I have a 4motion alloy sump on mine and is no lower than the standard sump. It has no hole for any sensors. The location is blanked off. I will see if the part number is visable if anyones interested. Has not really made any difference to oil temps but I picked it up for 20 quid.
  13. Id be up for some of that too. SOUTH COAST BARBY Q.
  14. The wishbones are not only longer but the bottom ball joint is an inch or so further forward so are incompatible with early bearing/brake assemblies. Steering racks and cv joints are the same. Only longer track rods. ARBs are different completely . Not sure about driveshaft lengths though.
  15. Sorted my freshly painted polo gti rear calipers and hoses yesterday. Got a lovely long pedal as a reward. Think I will just take it to a garage for a complete brake fluid change as bleeding this corrado system is sooo much harder that the old mk2.
  16. I know. sounds like my story exactly! Athough I avoided the injection but it was a close run thing. We are similar in so many ways.
  17. You dont have to join because they dont really tell you any more than the doctor does. The blood sample that the botnar research centre in oxford needs is independant of the nas society. I too spent a month in hospital doing hydrotherapy and stuff to get me moving and I had a meeting at the hospital with sufferers who have the disorder really bad. The were really hunched over and stiff. Nothings going to make me do the exercises better than seeing what you could become! Last time I had physio they were getting me to do breathing exercises. Breathing into the upper chest area because the inflammation can spread from the spine into the rib tendons so you have to keep them loose too. I was sceptical but it makes me feel better. And yes, I have done the superman thing in the past!! Also if you have any trouble with your eyes at all get them checked out. Blood shot and painful are the signs. AS makes us vulnerable to inner eye infections which hurt like hell. Get it seen to early and its eye drops and tablets. Leave it late and its injections into the eye which makes me want to puke!!
  18. remember the day I fired my home build vr mk2 up. I danced round like a loon. Good work that man.
  19. Mate. I have the same condition. Had it since I was 13. Makes life a real challenge some days. Only in pain most days. Im taking part in a medical study because the National ank spond society say the scientists have discovered 2 of the 3 genes that cause the condition which could lead to better meds or even cure ( doubtful ). Ask your doctor to look into it. Also the condition can in a lot of cases burn itself out in time. You probably know all this already though. Got mri scans next. great!! In a way Im lucky. My girlfriend helps out with car stuff when I feel rubbish. She put my vr engine in with me giving guidance.
  20. This is my italvolante.. Perfect size and feels comfortable to use. Thinking about selling though as Im close to sourcing a nearly new standard wheel.
  21. I would talk to your insurance company about being covered in this situation.
  22. I got mine out with a bent screwdriver with the column out of the car. The new switch is held in with cable ties only which work very well and is more solid. The screw has to be awkward to stop thieving monkeys getting to the switch too easily but with an aftermarket alarm and imob im not too bothered
  23. If its not an immobilizer problem which it sounds like to me then try this. When I installed the vr in my mk2 I would try to start it and It would splutter then stop. Because it was rubbish mechanic day I had put the fuel hoses on the wrong way round. So it was sucking the fuel from the injectors. Double check this.
  24. Do a search as its been covered in a couple of threads. Looks good in mine/
