poeple say (and it does make sense) that running your car causes bearings cv joints etc to wear out faster. last year i fitted a new inner cv joint to my red corrado its now on my black one. it most have had about 2-3k miles use, and on sunday night it shattered sending the ball bearings out of the rubber boot and i lost all drive to the road. there was no knocking or warning. has anyone heard of them going like this before? i ll clean the old one up and if it looks good i ll post some pics

henny - i have nt got the water temp working yet (the guy that sold me my clocks sniped the loom in half so not everything is working yet) but the oil temp is working, it sits about 110 on motorways and the highest it went upto was 126 in traffic altho it has only done this once. the car get up to about 90 in about 5 mins of driving , hoping to get the clocks working probly this week so i ll se what the water temp is like

i got mine from germanplates.com think there the cheapest place about. all being well i should be getting quite a few german style plate surrounds, which i will be selling cheaper than other places i ve seen, so if your after some check the classifieds in a week or so. if you get a vehicle defect notice you have to have the car checked by a mot station that the defect has been rectified, that does not mean you have to effectively get a re-mot.

the pic i posted up? its the guy i share a house with, his name is mark, known as retro-dub or albinodub on most of the forums. its a really nice clean car -
corradovr6sc - i can e-mail you some if you want, pm me ur e-mail address i got stopped with having black and silver plates on, i got a producer and had to change them back, then you need to get it checked by an mot centre. the worst that can happen is they ll give you a £30 on the spot fine.

Will my Corrado vr6 Konis fit a mk3 16v?
scruffydubbers replied to Joe M's topic in General Car Chat
i fitted my old AVOs from a 1990 16v onto a mk3 16v so cant see why yours will not fit. altho the spring rates and damping might not be ideal. -
had exactly the same problem with mine, from what you describe. i changed the blue temp sensor and the lambda sensor and it works fine now. altho this might not be the case for you. on mine when you unplugged the lamda sensor it ran ok. i was going to buy a universal lambda sensor from gs+f but they told me they had some running probs with them so i got one from vag which cost around £85 :x heres the part number on mine 037 906 265 B

think its about 1200kg maybe a litlle less

yer its running well, thanks to ur advice 8) but not sure of the temp because have nt got my clocks yet, the old 16v ones are in to get it working but not everything is working on them. i ve got the vr rad with twin 8" pacet fans which come this moring so have nt fitted them yet. and a 13 row oil cooler. and the 16v rad as a charge cooler rad, bit of a squeeze in there but all fits quite neat. standard thermostat and fan switch i ve a friend who had the screw charger on a standard g60 and it was running really hot and heating up from cold in no time at all, so thought i would make sure i ve got a good cooling set-up. i was running it yesterday and the fan was coming on when left idling for a few minutes maybe the the screw chargers heat the oil up a lot more :?: they have one oil feed and two returns with bigger lines than a g-lader. maybe i have overkilled the cooling side of things :| , once i get my clocks i ll have a look what the temps are like. one of the reasons i went for the pacet fans is because there more compact and neater than the standard set-up.

got mine bodged with some tie wraps at the mo  holds it fine but looks sh*te, i ll have to do something eventually,
-
the rad slots straight in but you might have little difficulty with the drivers side top mount on the slame panel. i am using the VR rad on my G60 but with the standard fan (at the mo), if you do this you have to make some brackets to mount the drivers side of the fan to the radiator. but i ve just bought twin pacet fans so i ll see how i get on with them. if you decide to use the old fan and my new fans go well your welcome to have the brackets i made up not sure if theres enough clearance for the twin VR fans :?: . the plugs are different on the fan motors but it be easy to make something up. the VR rad might draw more current especailly if its the air-con type, if this was the case it would be easy to wire up a set of relays so the thermostat switches a fused supply straight from the battery. has anyone used the twin vr fans on a g60?

ah surpose this is why the schrick inlet manifolds a really good. i wounder if you had an exhaust manifold with different length headers wheather much power gain would be made?
-
what i found interesting about the VR6 engine is all the inlet ports are on one side and all the exhaust ports are on the other, on a common cylinder head. so the port length must be different, so wouldnt the flow to and from 3 of the cylinders be different to the other 3 :?: does anyone know what i mean :?

:D :D :D changed the sensor, disconnected the lambda probe, and she running really sweet, woo hoo. thanks for the help i ll get some pics when i get the wheels on and shes clean up, :)
-
ok i ll try that, spoke to henny and a few guys on the dubforce forum and they think it might be to do with overfueling. thanks for the help just bought the blue temp sensor so i ll wack that in and disconnect the lambda sensor and see how it runs. i have just orderd a new lambda sensor too as i think the one i was using could have been from a VR6  which will probably/hopefully be the problem bally - the cars looking quite sad at the mo sat on a old set of really badly kerbed tsws, but i ve got some nice design 90s which i am gonna stick on as soon as its running right. had to change the wheels because i fittd the brembo brakes off my old corrado and the bbs would not clear. would nt mind a set like urs tho :)
-
you could also try talking to jabbasport they ran a 400brake 20vt in there red rallye on digi 1 also volkspeed use this set-up but the only ones i saw where supercharged
-
just tried new spark plugs and it no different. was reading a couple of other posts about and i can see poeple have had simular problems from the hall sensor, i think i might change this and see if there is any difference
-
i ve got them on mine. i think tsr or c+r do kits with everythink you need. the calipers bolt to ur standard carriers and you need different flexi line to join from the copper lines to the caliper. the standard hand brake cable fixes to them. the mk4 rear calipers are made from alloy as well so will not rust

got the idling problem sorted. but as soon as the car warms up it starts what seems like mis-firing really badly, and the car will not rev up. the spark plugs are very sutty and the exhaust is blowing a lot of black sut out. can anyone help? i ve checked the timing time and time again and seems ok spent all day working on it today with not much progress
-
yeah it is loud does nt help that theres a boost leak either, had a headache after messing about with it yesterday, lol remembered last night that i had nt connected the vacuum line to the clocks so gonna do this today and see if its any different. has anyone changed a core plug on a G60?
-
:D Got my car running today so really chuffed, couple of problems came apparent though The isv valve was opening up far to much at idle causing the car to rev up (had to disconnect) I ve got a quite big hole in the pipe work from the charger at the mo(still waiting for parts) would this cause the valve to open up? Had a big oil leak on the oil cooler, my fault for trusting people on eBay, so I ll order a new replacement I ve also got a water leak out of one of the core plugs on the back of the block, this was a new plug so do they need time to seal, (the car has nt been up to operating temperature yet) or do you think a new one will need to be fitted? Also after the car was starting to warm up it developed a miss-fire. Once cooled and restarted it was fine. The engine has had oversized pistons fitted and the car was only idling for around 5-10mins could this be due to oil as the rings are not sealing yet? It’s had new spark plugs and new leads and dizzy. The engine is a g60 with a bahnbrenner twin screw charger, Any help would be great

had a simular problem with my avos, i ground the platform off and fitted some new ones, i was going to surgest this, then i saw your other pictures, looks quite nasty :?
