  1. some people  i ve started parking across two spaces, ppl give me funny looks, but at least it limits the chance of damage. at least they have offerd to pay,
  2. it can be done, dont know how i ve a friend with a mk2 g60 which pops flames on demand, its putting out about 190 at the wheels with quite a high tune. not sure of the exact set-up dont listen to ppl who say there is no point, they are right about overfueling etc but if you want your car to pop flame thats up to you 8)
  3. thanks, sometimes wish i had of had it repaired :( have a look at http://www.elite1000-cardiff.co.uk under e1k cars for a couple more pictures on the lights i removed the plastic surrounds from the lights and put small bits of tape along the top and bottom then re-fitted the plastic surrounds, some people did nt like it, and it did nt look that good when u looked close, nut i liked it on that car
  4. have a look at deman tweeks they sell quite a lot of universal fans which are quite slim, some of them are cheaper than what ppl ask for the twin VR ones second hand
  5. there 17" by 7.5, thats my old car, which was sadly hit by a learner driver
  6. Hi, you could have a look at a haynes manual or simular to give you an idea of whats envolved, basically you will have to remove the inlet manifold, the cam cover, slacken off the cam belt, remove the cams, fit new cams, correctly torque them down, and re-fit everything i would recomend changing the cam belt and cam chain at the same time as these are relatively inexpensive, and you will have to remove them anyway. is your engine very tappy? you could replace the cam folowers if so, if not it might be worth removing them and squezing the old oil out, but make sure you fit them back in the same place each one was removed from. when drilling the airbox dont put any holes on the side next to the engine. i have never done this mod myself but i imagine the power gains are not massive, but probably changes the way the engine behaves making more power high in the revs, but perhaps losing a little low down torque. i have seen some mk2 running this spec, which once setup correctly on a rolling road where making over 160bhp
  7. i ve done mine, about £15 from gsf and then i bought poly bushes, although the vr6 wishbones are longer. dont know if gsf sell them :?
  8. dont know if anybody is interested but there is a VAG meet in cardiff the last sunday of every month have a look under the south wales section on the forum under my link below, if your interested. i kinda live between barry and llantrisant http://www.elite1000-cardiff.co.uk/
  9. i would be interested too, depending on price i am guessing really but does one stop oil starvation and the other prevent the oil getting sloshed around (technical speak :) ) and producing bubbles?
  10. i think some of the old saabs turbos use a simular mechanical injection to k-jet, could be wrong you might be able to use the metering head or some parts off it to increase the fueling aswell
  11. has anyone goy any experience of the ridgeway alloy crank pulleys which run the charger and pas pump. http://www.ridgewayracing.com/G.html they offer quite a weight saving over the original items, although seem quite expensive. i need a new pas pump pulley do you think its worth going for one of these
  12. i ve been looking into g60 cams aswell, the piper 285 cam is not 285 duration think its 266, they have just named it a 285 for some reason :?
  13. think its because the inner skin/strengthning beams of the newer bonnets are in diffrent positions. to give more clearance over the VR6 engine
  14. :D Thanks, will give it a go when i get my slam panel back on. how bad are those instructions :x good picture though, cheers :D
  15. Hello, i ve bought a single strut bonnet lifter and dont know how it is fitted., no instructions had a look at the obvious places but doesnt seem to fit. its quite long, about a metre when extended. has anyone got one fitted?
  16. price up some avons, maybe normally found these good value with awesome grip.
  17. dont think he is talking about doing a 16v g60, think he means putting a g60 head, charger, ecu on to a 16v block, could be wrong tho if this is what you mean i dont think it is possible,
  18. yer you get the digifiz dials in left hand drive mk2 16v, not cheap tho, i ve got a friend who put some on ebay and they went for £400-500 in the end
  19. not sure about the rev counter etc, but the mpg and some bits might not work due to the g60 clocks were made to measure vacuum on a forced induction engine and the 16v clocks were not also the early (possible all) 16v clocks use a cable operated speedo where the g60 one uses an electric signal from a sender. what does the car rev to then?
  20. Just found an interesting link on the vortex forum explaining about the isv reducing the boost, like darren was talking about. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1238044 So if you had the engine/timing/fueling all set-up correctly do you think it is safe to remove the isv? i guess the idle could just be adjusted manually :?: would this effect the cold starting? i surpose a check valve would reduce the boost leaks, but would also prevent the isv reducing the boost if it needed to
  21. 22 years Mk1 golf driver1.3 - RH cups lowered stripped out etc Corrado 1.8 16v - which i converted to a VR6 but then got hit by a learner driver  Mk2 golf driver1.6 - lowered on sebring wheels used while i worked on the corrado (non vw) reno 5 gt turbo - good fun another corrado 16v polo cl - lowered on bbs daily driver ah and a 1958 rag top beetle - long term project all VW apart from the reno and driving my mums escort when i first past 8)
  22. had a look at a couple of cams here are the specs cam. power band, bhp, duration, lift piper270, 2000-6000, 12, 260, 10.87 kentGS4H, 1500-6000, 14, 266, 11.17 piper285, 2400-6500, 18, 268, 11.13 the engine has been lightened and balanced so i dont think the higher reving would be a problem, although if the power band was higher would i lose some torque? cant find any info on the shrick cams at the moment, the piper cams seem a little cheaper which is always a bonus reading on the vortex forums they seem to use bigger cams for cars which have had head work, my heads been ported and polished, its still using the same size valves though :? Banana man - have you got this cam? did you see the gains that they quote? also can the G60 cam be used in the cross flow heads? any advise/help would be great
  23. To be honest i am not to bothered about a having a smooth idle, the car isnt a daily driver so doesnt really matter. there seems quite a lot of choice, even companys such as piper produce a couple of different ones :?
  24. Can anyone recomend a uprated cam for the G60? i was going to get a piper 285 but the guy selling it has decided to keep it
