What do you hate the most about yer C????
scruffydubbers replied to vr6storm's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah i hate the rear visibilty and the fact that it halves when the spoiler rises. and the price of some of the parts second hand and new when there not really that special -
aah did nt realise they where that price, thanks that ll be handy
-
yeah it is a pain, its not a daily driver and i ride my bike to work, so i only go places where i know i dont have any problems. the splitter catches the road all the time just driving through towns but its surprisingly held up quite well and tends to bend rather than crack. although its looking a little worse for wear. i am gonna get a new one and save it for shows (cant beleive how expensive they are ) i like a good country lane and its a pain sometimes becasue you ve always got an eye out for big bumps and cant drive it as hard as i would like to.

thanks for the nice replies :D the tyres are 195/40/16 dunlop sp9000 i hope it goes well, i would like to put a big valve cross flow head on eventually and see how much power it can produce staying with the 8v supercharged theme, but we ll see. thanks, after my last corrado was written off this came up for sale so i decided to buy it, but its not the same when its somebody elses work ideas, so i wanted to add my touch.

heres a couple of pics but not that clear sorry. not that clear in the pic but you can see the edges that are worn and the frame the bearings sit in is cracked causing the bearings to pop out. i ve got a another gsf jobby on at the mo, i ll see how long it last, if it goes again i ll get a better quality one. Bally - i ll post some pics of the car and engine when i get some good ones :) , all the ones i ve got are with it dirty or not very good quality :? i ve got a decent camera on my wish list, along with lots of other stuff

if it is bad take the rectifier off the back of the alternator clean up the brushes and the armatur and there some contacts and a earth clean all these up and give it a go. mine was nt charging, i was about to buy a new alternator i just thought i would try giving it a clean up first and then i got 13.5v :D

its a shame, i sold a cat a few months back for about a £5 on ebay, you could have used it to play around with. i used a cat bypass pipe on my VR from motech was about £40. my friend has the same one fitted to his mk3 16v and he got a flange welded on the other end of the bypass pipe, and on the other end of the cat, making it much easier to change come mot time.

i think thats normal from a boost guage its only when you floor or part throttle when the return flap will close or partly close giving you the boost from the charger. i beleive you hace to wire in another lamda sensor for the air fuel guage as the one for the engine is constantly changing
-
yeah it was a gsf jobby, the other three are 4 yrs old and not gone, we ll see how this one lasts. i ll post some pics i keep forgetting
-
thanks for the help anticlockwise = advanced. seems to be running nice now, but going to leave the spanner in the car

i ve 2 got a timing lights, one which you could type the disired angle in and one which just flashes (really old), the good one has stopped working yesterday when i was trying to set it up, and i remember reading to advance the timing as much as possible before it pinks for maximum performance. i am using a differnt cam and had the head skimmed so i would have thought setting the dizzy the manufactures setting might not be at its best, but having said that i am running the engine in at the moment so would nt really matter if it was at its maximum performance on the timing thanks gazza for your help, its quite cool here today so might give it a go i ve just been thinking about it and answered my own question, i know which way the engine turns so i can work out which way to turn the dizzy to advance the timing
-
am i right in thinking i want to advance it as much as possible before it starts pinking.
-
which way do yo turn the dizzy to advance the timing? thanks

i know there has been a couple of post about wiring diagrams before, i did a search but could nt find anything. i am after a diagram for G60 clocks, for a corrado. i ve got a rallye diagram and a 1990 corrado 16v diagram but these are no good any help would be great :D

ah dont get me wrong, i know why its happened, its just one of the side affects of running it low. the cars now lower than before, the front coil-overs are wound all the way to the bottom. i know it put strain on the components and i expect them to break, i know its not practicle, but its not a daily driver and i love the low look. just never seen a cv joint go in this way, they was no knocking, it just appeared to exploed. looking at the driveshfts they are are prbably set at the same angle as the standard set-up just in the wrong direction (pointing up rather than pointing down) Bally - its all sorted now, changed it on the side of the road. i ll clean it up and post a pic soon :D
