that is quite a wide distance between them, mine are both normally on the same driveway!!!! ur black one looks tasty, how long u been here away from it?
-
thanks jim, u wudnt be bias at all having borbet c's no?! and red rado ur mk1 is awesome, ur rado is pretty darn tasty too!!!
-
call me greedy but i have 2 corrados! a g60 and a 20vt although i am gonna sell teh red g60 :(

Pump bump!
-
thats what i thought, but it worked all right for a while, and it ran ok with the pump from my other corrado in while i waited for the new one to arrive. im pretty sure u can hear it lock, and unlock, just for like a second or two. it must be very intermittently getting stuck on. what could cause that? there is no relay i can find for the central locking, thats exactly what i originally popped into my head straight away. any info on a relay for the pump wud be great, i looked in the bentley manual and cudnt seem to find any mention of one.
-
my new car seems to like melting the central locking pumps, its done it twice now, one of which was a brand new vw item.. not cheap!!! it has no door locks or door pins meaning iv had to climb in the boot and out the window a couple of times. not the best car to have to do that in! i did check all the lives n earths going to the unit and they all seemed fine, must be some sort of intermittent problem, has anyone else had this problem and how did you overcome it? thanks
-
nah the whole car, i bought a rado with a 20vt already in it! (cheater!!!)
-
thats wot i was gonna look at doing, fmic 68mm pully sns chip etc but like i say its gone another way. if u know anyone that likes ur g60 and wants one swing em my way!
-
that car looks nice, dunno if its better than a rado tho! i was looking at an attack kitcar. theyre tasty. i did enjoy my g60, its got torque, and a lovely noise (not whiney like i thought itd be) but its completely standard and i had the choice of spending money doin it up or buying something different, and i found a bargain so got that instead! u must have spent a fair bit to get to 215bhp? ill be starting on 225! plus its not my daily driver which is nice!
-
LOL whys that? it seemed alrite to me, went out in it on sunday. cant find anything wrong with it, ill let u know wen i pick it up! my original g60 is now up for sale tho, its good condition, rebuilt head n charger n brakes n wheels. someone else cud convert it to 16vg60!
-
thanks for all the info guys, iv now gone and got a 20vt, so hte 16vg60 is out the window!!!
-
aah thats a bummer, so i need to find a nice low mileage kr engine then? are the pistons up to the job of the extra heat of FI? thats a bummer, cos by the time i get the money for all that ill have to do it on my driveway not work, so makes it alot more effort. maybe ill just chip n pulley!!! so u reckon u did the whole thing for £450 all in? wot did u do about the inlet and how did u route the air to it? with teh oriinal pipework?
-
even if i just use 1 head gasket? wot sort of CR would that be then with a standard pg and kr head? wot about kr pistons in the pg block?
-
cool thanks for hte list, where did you get the fuel rail and manifold from? and do you know if hte KR head will fit a PG block? as i want to keep the g60 stuff i can, just put the kr head on? ppl do do this right?
-
ok ive been searching for a while and cant rele find the answers, so i thought id post, firstly, i have a pg block g60 and im thinking of 16valving it, i been told a KR head will fit, is this true? i dont rele wanna do it if i gotta piss about with the block too. secondly, i was gonna use 2 head gaskets cos plenty of ppl seem to do that and seems to work alrite, if it goes wrong later on i can always go down the new pistons route. although what compression ratio wud i be looking at with a pg block kr head as is? thirdly, what parts do i need to think about? i have a list 16V Scirocco Intake manifold lower and upper 16V Distributor, which one? 16V Distributor Block off plate? (for where?) 16V oil pump, 16V Secondary shaft and gears complete (???) 16V Timing belt and gears, (do i need the crank timing pully? as the bolt on mine is proper seized, a massive air gun wudnt touch it! 16V Exhaust Manifold vr6 alternator (are they the same whether from a mk3 or a corrado?) some sort of mods to the fuel rail throttle body adaptor elbow do all the 16v bits have to be froma KR? then my last bit is just to make up some custom bracketry to mount the alternator below the charger. i shud be able to sort that myself. thanks in advance

i work with rebuilding engines, and the way we do it is bend an old ring so that u can use the small flat end where the gap is, to poke back in there if that makes any sense, not the sharp bit from a broken one. that with some wd40 will get it out in no time. good luck

clutch pedal stuck down and stayed down...
8vtornado replied to stu sleeper 20vt's topic in Drivetrain
i had this problem on mine, thought id have a wack at the slave first cos its cheapest and mine was original, and it was fucked, but didnt fix it, turned out to be the master. replaced them both now and the pipes and it works beautifully, both are pretty easy to do. the slave can take minutes! i dindt remove anything other than the item itself, just remove the pipe, then the 2 bolts holding it onto the gearbox and it slides out, sorted! much the same with the master but u have to take a clip off the pedal for it which is confusing how the clip works, cant rememba exactly, but hten u just undo the two bolts holding it onto the bulkhead and the pipe, again... SORTED! good luck, im sure if u do it urself u cud do both for the price of the mechanic doin the slave!! i got mine from gsf as their actually the vw ones with the VAG grinded off!!! (the master dindt even have it grinded off!!) -
small update, i couldnt find a problem with any of the power/earth or see anything on the circuitboard so i just thought id get a second hand set of clocks to check it, and it worked, i beeen using it for about a week now and it seems ok, its also cured the resetting of the mfa and stuff occasionally on startup. so i went to vw to ask if they can change the odo for me and apparently not (if anyone has any more info on this thatd be cool) so i guess i gotta find a pikey to do it for me now!!! i only want my genuine mileage back cos its a good un!!
-
thats the price i was quoted from a mate in vw wen i was gonna buy em, but i just straight swapped them for some big bumpers off my old mk2 which i dont need anymore as they dont fit corrados!!! only problem now is that im scared to use em incase i dirty them!!!! luckily its only a weekend car tho!
-
today i got hte last known set of genuine vw veluer floormats with corrado enscribed on them!! theyve been sitting in my local vw for years , they were ordered by someone then cancelled, i wanted them but cudnt afford them. however, today i swapped some old bumpers from my old golf which i no longer have and voila! the mats are mine!! just thought id share!!
-
that is true but the offset isnt that far out as i ran my golf on these wheels for over a year before i sold it, it handled lovely, infact better than before, and the bearings were fine. they were the best thing i done to it! its only the same as fitting wider wheels anyway.
-
i had these on my mk2 gti and they widened the stance briliantly, i did have some rear arch rubbing with it tho when loaded up. but i think the corrado has a bit more clearance. they clear the struts fine tho. good luck
-
ok i tested the voltage regulator and thats fine as i expected, the only thing i suspect now is the - for the outside temperature sensor (pin 1 on the 28 pin connector) doesnt seem to have an earth, wondering if this could have been the problem, causing that circuit to short through somethign else and blowing something. im not even sure if its supposed to be an earth!!! ill have to trace the wire before i put another set of clocks in incase i blow those too! theres gotta be a reason it blew... anyone know which part of the clocks the mileage is stored in? these other clocks iv bought add 50,000 miles on my car and i rele dont want that!!! ill do anything to have my old mileage back! anyone got any ideas?
-
the earths fine. stealers are useless, told me it cud be voltage reg but my guide says that wud only be the case if the fuel and coolant guages were haywire, but theyre the only two that DO work!!! so im stumped, probably take it to work 2moro and test the speed sensor although im not pinning any hopes on that cos i wudnt have thought tahtd put all the gauges out, but u never know there cud be some sort of crazy arse thing in it, although come to thihnk of it that wudnt stop hte odo showing with the ignition off..... DAM this sucks!!! think im gonna try a second haand pod and canibalise it, still want my low mileage!!!! anyone else got any ideas?
