Rpmayne wrote A little trick is to get a spark plug smash the ceramic and the centre out so your left with the threaded part, now weld a air line end onto it. Remove the cars spark plug. place the tool youve made into the plug threads. no place and air line onto it. the air pressure will seat and keep the valves up so they dont fall through. know you can work on the seals. Done this loads of times on 16vs but not changed VR ones without heads off. :D

"tut" You lot and your G60's i dont no!

well your normal 130k would be inspection service. oil and filter and a full check over. the chain doesnt need replacing, hoses only replace when needed (cracked split etc) and drive belts if there cracked or dry change them too. All depends how far you wanna go and how much you wanna spend. basic rule; 5k- oil change (as a bonus) 10K-Oil and filter 20k- plugs if not using plats 40k-air filter or clean a performance one 60k- belts (not vr6) 1 year- aircon 2years- brake fluid/ coolant changes :D

Combination of the vibration of the engine causing the plug to come loose and the pressure in the cylinder helping it on its way. :D

just imagine you go in to the dealer, testdrive and end up ordering a EVO8 FQ-300 for £29000, not bad so far. But the night befor your due to pick it up, you get a call from the delear saying that the car was driven through the showroom window and stolen :( . You then wait again for another car to be delivered. You get another call to say that the leather option your require has added another 3 weeks to order :( . Finally your ready, you walk into the dealer, sign the paperwork and drive away :D . Then 6 miles down the road theres an almighty rattle, yo quickly pull up and stop. The delear send someone out and discovers that water pump pulley bolts have come loose and two have fallen out and gone :( Unlucky or what. (but then he is pro footballer with loads of money  )

i bet you could turn the steering wheel 90' before any reaction  bet the car feels different now with a new bush in it

How come your not opting for VR6, after a GT4 a 16v might feel slower.
-
Two other options could be use water injection or move to iceland :D keep us updated Rams with any news. :D

could have been fun on the road.

Stevemac, so if you place the cam timing one/two teeth out, you wouldnt get a misfire :? . i think you would mate as the knock and ecu couldnt correct that much, and thats why you would get a knocking noise like i said and was merely going on long with idea you had already said. I didnt mention the word igintion timing once mate. LowG any news yet mate on the problem :D
-
Vege proudce very good engines and never had any problems with them( after about 30 engines/head/ boxes etc) :D

Rams- normaly start with a cold engine, and coolant on the max level, start car and turn heater on to hot. keep an eye on the temp and level (top up as needed) when the car gets to normal operating temp (and there is no excessive air bubbles) replace the cap, keep running all the time and check the fan cuts in and out and the temp doesnt rise too high. once the car has cooled just double check the level and top as required. :D
-
Wouldnt bother doing the inner joints very rarely go wrong and will cost a lot to replace when then dont need doing. Plus outter cv you can do in 30 mins. :D and is far easier than the inners

Many garages know adays dont even go near the idea of steam cleaning, as the results can be quite damaging (ie all the electrics and coils) Many times the arguments between customers and garages over problems after steam cleaning can be nasty with no one wanting to pay to rectify the problem. Youre better using a special cleaner or spray brake cleaner on the parts required and clean with a cloth.
-
Corrado biggest "smallest" problem i'm afraid. though it is fixable.
-
Can you tell if its more top(rattly tinny sound, fast) or bottom(heavy loud thuds) end thats noisey. Like stevemac said it could poss be timing out this will cause a misfire and pre-det causing knocking sound.(this would be the nicest outcome for you) :(
-
Use some proper grease or copper grease on it, wd40 will break down after a while and thats why the noise has come back.

Wrong question to ask, i think everyone on hear will tell you that the C is a great car to drive. And it really is, no matter which one you choose. VR6- Motorway cruiser G60- Torque monster 1.8 16v- Rev happy machine all of them are great and and unlike the G40 they have brakes that work  Good luck. there are some nice cars on this forum for sale at the mo.
-
bigbroony what car you running. vr6/g60 or 16v. Just because the ecu retained a fault code it doesnt always mean the part is broken, the ecu will often pick up several fault codes at a service, which are just erased. Just have the car checked again and check the codes again before replacing parts. :D

raypau. just phone a dealer and see what they charge then you can gauage the price quoted.
-
Get the cooling system pressure tested. to pin point the leak. far easier than guessing. unless you can see where it exactly coming from. :D

See the following link for times. 0-60 Dont take manfactures times as gospel they cover alot things up with the times. (ie the hidden stroy between the 16v and G60 times  ) but thats another story :!: :!: :!:

vr6storm wrote Agree with you there mate. but to think of C being neglected :(

If you drop your lower dash panels on both sides, you should be able to see the cables moving in time with the dial. Try and see which cable is causing the problem. If they seem ok, then one of the flaps in the box may be broke. :(
