Nope, my speedo is solid as a rock. might go and check the connections are clean though. maybe that'll fix it. As for the water leak, the boot is now dry and every electrical connection has been cleaned inside the tailgate and guess what.... Not a bloody ounce of difference. I've read so many posts on here about how folks spoilers work on the switch but not automatically but none like mine. Mine will sometime go up on its on over 50 but rarely. if I manually raise it and just click the switxch down a bit the spoiler starts working automatically again and goes banannas again! With the weather getting warmer its behaving itself a bit more now... it'll stay up for at least a minute! then it'll retract and come back up and down again then up for a while and then down again then up and straight down... I think you get the picture! Any clues folks?

Fingers, My rado had exactly the same problem and could be called slightly unique as it was all of these together! I had to replace my heater matrix, renew the seal around the heater fan intake and replace the membrane in my door which wasn't just cut... more missing completely! for the first time ever I have dry wells, clear windows and no retched smell! None of this is hard to do except the matrix which is more time consuming then anything so give it a go.

Laughingboy replied to Yandards's topic in Members Gallery
If you need one I've a spare one you can use as reference or whatever mate. engine looks great by the way and has got me thinking as well! Give us a shout if you need that pulley and I'll pop it by. it'll cost you a cuppa and a biscuit though! -
I'm running a third brake light in the top of my boot lid which was fitted by some previous owner... look bloody gash too! :?
-
Check the lead between the battery to starter and then to the alternator as a start, mine was rotten to hell and caused similar problems.

Theres a guide on clubgti I think on doing your tappets, they very rarely wear out and just need a clean usually. I'll see if I can find the link and post that up for you... certainly save you over a £100! Edited cos I found that link! http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=76499 The guide is excellent!

Just upgraded to these in my C, did you just fit the H4's as I couldn't seem to get them in H3... Very pleased also, well compared to the candles that were previously fitted! I fitted some phillips h3 100 watt jobs but that seems to have mucked up my headlights completely!! So i'm going back to the standard spots. :x What are you running spot wise Yan? -
Trust me I know your pain, I've just changed mine over and found the middle screw has rusted badly and is chewed like an old dog toy... anyone know how to get this out as I don't have any drills that long!
-
Nah, Just replced that a week or two ago. Makes a change though, something wrong with the starting process that isn't the bloody switch!
-
I use a bleed nipple that came off my old mk1 calipers, ts just the right size to bolt into the flexi hose hole and then I clip my foot pump on and push away. they don't fly out normally... just plop out kind of!
-
Cheers rodders, your a gent! Now to track this fella down!

Wierd complaint, my rado's quicker then I expected!!
Laughingboy replied to Laughingboy's topic in Engine Bay
Well, done some more investigation into this. it was done on a lengendary part of the A9 which is all downhill duel carriageway for a fair few miles! might have helped! Plus Me and yandards were having a muck about coming back from a club meet the other night and this valver keep too with his VR6 until the speedo started to creep into the very naughty side of the dial. Even he had to admit its got some go about it! Something has definatly been done to this thing and I'm dying to find out what. As soon as the weather improves I'm going to take a real good look under the bonnet, my guess is a possibly a 9a block with maybe a kr cam. What sort of horses would that give me? I was told around 160 - 165bhp. that right? I have since (on private roads ;) ) seen what I can get it too and a nats knacker off 140 on the clock is my cars lot on the flat. didn't feel like it had much more to give but there was still revs to play with. The mystery continues.... :?: -
Need some help guys with my 91 corrado 1.8 16v, have done a quick search but can't find anything relevent. Every now and then my rado takes ages to start, like its not getting fuel or something. It spins over and fires straight away as always then dies straight after. you turn the key again and it turns over nice and fast but keeps going for ages then it eventually coughs into life! seems to happen when its cold but not all the time. the frequency of it happening though is going up! Also, I've started to get a pop on overrun from the exhaust which sounds cool but has got me wondering if this is anything to do with it. Its recently had a few new odds and sods like a brand new dizzy, dizzy cap rotor arm and king lead but thats all thats been changed in the engine. wouldn't be crap in the tank by any chance? Any help would be great.

Wel according to Etka, the rad from a mk3 has the outlets in a different spot so thats a no go as well. bit of a bummer all round really...
-
Not really, just notice you mentioned the fans! they are moulding in!! x 10! As for the rad fitting the rado, I'll check etka and see what the oracle has to say!
-
The rad in a MK3 is inset and clipped into a massive plastic slam panel but you can just remove it. once out its like any normal rad. Its not moulded in at all  I shoud know, my last run around was a vento commonly refered to as the Club slag! it had a thing for eating radiators!
-
Had a similar problem with my valver. Next time you start it, put your foot under the accelerator pedal and flip it up. if your idle returns to normal its just your cable thats playing up. simple check and simple fix which will hopefully knock something off your list. Think a cable is only £20 from the main stealer. :D As for the timing belt, shouldn't cause a problem with the idle.

See a few folks worried about uprated looms on here. The one I run in my Mk1 golf is similar to the one I've just got hold of for my rado. A guy who lived local to me made them. His looms fitted into the original headlight loom. meaning if you had any problems you could just unplug it and and reattach your old loom. As for the worries about the damp getting in, nobody thought of using marine grade fuses and relays?? ;) -
I'll have a good butchers tomorrow as I can get into my mates garage as I'll be buggered if I'm lying in the snow to sort this!!
-
Sounds identical to mine, check the lead between the battery and the starter. mine was badly corroded and loose and caused the exact same running troubles you describe. The KR is notorious for needing a good spark. Also check ya earth leads as well.

Was it the flap that was wrong DaveVR6? As I've just had to take a drive over to a mates place in -8 conditions only to find I've now got the same problem! combined with a burst heater matrix and its been all fun and games for me tonight!! I had to drive along, scrape and chamios ice off the inside off the window and avoid snow drifts and perilous conditions... won't be trying that again in a hurry!

I worry about you mate. you'll be drinking syntra silver next! -
Well it could be one kind of water! Theres a leak at the back, someones taken a screw out from around the spoiler slider thing and water is collecting in the tailgate! Away to strip and clean the bloody thing!
