Laughingboy replied to Laughingboy's topic in Engine Bay
It was taken by the driver!! :shocked!: Who in there right mind drives that fast and holds a mobile phone at the gauges!! Sad thing is, the lad I bought this car off is now deceased. killed in a car accident at the tender age of 20. kinda brings it home to ya really. :| -

Something Else To Check for 'Heater only Blows on 4'

Yup sure I can spare one, job is easy enough I can run you through it. Got those in-pros off now, not sure if I am going to make this Sundays meet though. If I nip out the box, whip it up to you and collect those in-pros would you run through it as in run through and do it!? Whats your favourite tipple? -
Quick, if strange question guys, Got sent a video from my rado's previous owners mate of it going down the A9 at an indicated 160mph on the clock!! (An obvious careful owner! ) Its got 17's on it which I know will put the speedo out somewhat but I always though it made them under read with bigger wheels! Its a 16v kr!!! Not renowned for its breath taking performance compared with its bigger cousins in the corrado range but this one does feel surprisingly... urgent shall we say! I suspected that one of the previous owners of this car has been an enthusiast but short of putting the car on the rollers is there any way to check if this car has had anything done to it engine wise. Cheers for any help.

Bugger  (Not in the wiki though, even the thermal fuse replacement guide isnt in the wiki) Was about to say... Is there a reason why the thermal fuse guide isn't in the wiki? seems to be a regular question and something I need to fix as well! Which minds me, got any spare thermal fuses Yan? -
Just wondering how hard a job it is to remove window tints. they don't look like professional ones... more like sticky back bin liners to be honest! Its the adhesive that I'm worried about as surely its going to be a real sod to get off. Just need to get rid of them as they are just bloody horrible, I like a nice light smoke tint but this pitch black pimpin' limo stuff is a bit Chav. I'm past the age of needing to hide what I'm up to with my "ho" in the backseat so they've got to go! Cheers for any help

Help guys, just noticed today when I was coming home that the spoiler on my rado is starting to resemble a space hopper. It just keeps going up and down and up and down. sometimes it'll stay up for a while then drop other times it'll go up and straight back down again. I've resorted to just raising it with the switch and leaving it up as the looks on drivers behind me is just too distracting! Now apart from hosing it with holy water and screaming  "The power of Christ compells you" at it anyone have any ideas where to start testing or looking to find out whats wrong. I'm assuming it could be a loose connection but I've not a clue where everything is situated in the car. Thanks for any help.

AH HA! The non starter is now a runner! Changed that switch over this morning and turned the key to get some more clicks and whirls out of the fusebox etc but it still wouldn't start so went on the "track a spark" game and found the spark was there but had no pattern what so ever. The plug would fire, mis for a bit fire again etc etc. cleaned up the dizzy again and tried that to no avail then notice the king lead which I had checked out as ok and looked pretty new had a small amount of oil coming out of the plug into the dizzy!! nicked the old one of my mk1 and broom! it lives! Its a bit loud (scorpion exhaust) and the tappets are loud but for £300 its a bloody bargain and a running one at that. its still mot'd and taxed as well! bonus! Thanks for all your help, off to look for a guide to doing the tappets but I think a dam good service is in order first. ordered a new dizzy to stop the oil leak then I'll have to book it in for a tune up as well to get running sweet. Thanks again.

See your getting me thinking now... how about one of those electric dump valves?! You know the ones with a recording of a dump valve that plays when your off the throttle and of course everyone then believes you've "blown" your 1.3 nova! Nope this is the plan of action... Its now officially "Project: Nescafe de-chav!"

Its got 140k on the clock but its got a decent service history and I've a nice low mile KR hiding in the shed! Corradude, You not think it would look fetching with some gay green neons underneath?

After having to let my slightly "rat look" vento move on to another victim I went and got myself something new to play with. Cost me just a shade over £300 which ain't bad in my book! What do you guys think? Needs a few things done but nothing to large scale but I had to save it from the guy who had it before! I went to see it and it was running like a sack of spanners! In his own words "Its not running good but it'll still do a ton like!" cue ned like ha ha ha's. It was almost certainly an earth lead or power lead (which is what it turned out to be!) but I wasn't telling him that. It wouldn't start off the key but after some investigation it was the dreaded switch otherwise it was fine. needs some paint on the rear panel (he kicked it because it was running bad!! clown!) but thats the only damage that this chav has managed to inflict upon it in the 4 months he's had it. its previous owner on the other hand looks to have been like us and cared for it. I had to rescue her before he put in a dozen 12" subs and painted it in meta flake!

Bingo, Euro car farts has one for for £65 all in with no exchange. Sol good in fact I may just go ahead and order it. Picking up the ignition switch tomorrow! Fingers are crossed I'll turn that key and broom! It'll live... but I'm not holding out much hope!

How much is the distributor setting you back. £95 from vag... plus a surcharge! ouch!

Not on the KR if remember correct as its ECU and distributor. thought a control module was used when there wasn't a dizzy and cap arrangement... but I could just be running up the wrong path with that one! I've been looking through some wiring diagrams my mate sent me to see if there some connection to the ECU from the ignition switch. I know for definite that the G60 has a relay to turn the ECU on from the Mk1 golf conversion I'm doing just now but I couldn't see one on the 16v kr diagram. does anyone know if there is a relay and which one it is in the board? I'll check the spark tomorrow when I can see again. on the plus and down side I'm going to have to order a new distributor as its leaking oil into the cap. I'm sure you could buy rebuild kits for these things but I'm getting to the age where convience is getting more important!! ;) That of course will at least sort out any problems with the hall sender plus I found out how cheap that switch is in the ignition, wish I'd just gone and got the bit now!

Help!! Just became the owner of a new corrado about a week ago. its a 91 1.8 16v and the dam thing just won't start! Got it for button money as the poor lad who had it previous was a total chav and didn't have a clue! As bad as the car was it was in desperate need of rescue from this clown that I took pity on it and saved if from a life of wheelspining in retail park car parks! Anyhow, when I went to see it it won't start off the key (definite Ignition switch) so I jumped the terminals off the starter motor and it ran like a load of crud which unknown to chav boy was the main power lead from the battery to the starter only just hanging on. I bought the car (just under £300!!!) got it home fixed the lead and bingo! it ran like a dream. now to the problem! As the ignition switch wasn't working as a quick fix I remembered I had an old push button starter switch in the cupboard so fitted that to the car to bypass the ignition problem but now the dam thing won't start at all! I think I may have bridged some wires when installing the button but can't find what I've done. Its getting fuel and the pump starts after the key fob immobilizer is inserted. the ISV is buzzing when the key is in the on position. The starter is turning when the button is pressed. It was getting bad spark so I've put on a new cap and rotor arm as the cap was sparking around the king lead. But as its now dark I've not tested the spark again. The hall sender looks a little ropey, is there any way to test this? And does anyone have any other idea to what the problem could be? Thanks for any help and sorry if this has been covered before, I tried a serch but couldn't find anything to help. Please put me out of my misery!! :(
