  1. I've been toying with this idea for a while now as 90% of the time I've got my BMX in the back. Can be a bit of hassle as I have 6x9s in the parcel shelf so putting the in the sides would be a great idea. Would like to see how you secured them to the sides :)
  2. Hey, Whats the part number for the VR6 Lambda?
  3. I've got to tackle this in the next week or so for the big 312 conversion, maybe some plus gas on the joint will help?
  4. Is 600mm too long for the hoses?
  5. I've been reading the wiki and searching for ages now to find an answer to this problem! Ive got a 94 vr6, and some 312 calipers and carriers, hoses from a 2001 mk4 4 motion. I've got the bolts and spacers so now all I need is to sort the hoses! Now it has been mentioned that the mk2 to mk4 goodridge kit mentioned in the wiki is only for the rear. Some people suggest you need to get a mk4 goodridge kit, but if I do that the hoses will be the same length as the current mk4 hoses attached to the calipers ( which are a few cm longer than the current vr6 hoses). This suggests that I could just use the hoses currently attached to my calipers, but 1. Will the thread on the end of the current mk4 hose fit onto my cars line at the other end? 2. I don't want to get stuck in the same situation as Karl, so is the slight extra length of the current mk4 hoses a problem? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Mine does the same thing, from what I know it's a pretty common problem. Can be very scary when in traffic. I think as the revs drop the ISV gets stuck and doesn't open quick enough to maintain idle, alot of the time when i put the clutch in the little red battery light will flicker then flick off again as the ISV catches it. You can take it off and soak it in carb cleaner overnight, this fixes the problem for a while, but sometimes they're just past saving I guess. New ISVs are about £ 200 from the dealers apparently.
  7. Theres a Fiat Coupe specialist just outside Oxford. I was looking at them for a while before getting the C. On the plus side the interiors are beautiful, they have monster brakes as standard, look like a mini-supercar and go like stink! On the negative side most of them seem to have had major engine rebuilds after 50-60k, suggesting they aren't the most reliable of cars.
  8. That looks awsome! Nearly bought one that colour, wish I had now to be honest!
  9. I bought one off him yesterday, just the main and dip one. Arrived this morning, looks really well made and labelled. Just got to work out fitting it tonight :)
  10. Car looks ace! Probably see you around the ringroad sometime soon!
  11. Does anyone know the actual length the hose should be? I've had some 312s from a 4mo sitting about for a while now and should really get them on, got the bolts and spacers, and hoses are still connected to the calipers. One other small problem is that the little bleed nipple has snapped off one of the calipers, can I just remove a nipple from the 280 caliper and screw it into my 312 one?
  12. Am I right in thinking that the "NSF rear arm bush" is the Track control bush and is located in the back of the wishbone? I'm pretty sure mine has gone as I can move the wheel back and forth a fair bit, I just wanted to know whether it was something I could replace myself pretty easily? Do you need to take the wishbone off to do it?

    New Sump?

Yeah I've been reading alot about doing all those parts at the same time, and trust me, noting I'm paying for is ever going to be done at a dealers! I might just start by getting the ball joints done, anyone got a rough idea of cost? Something like 20 quid a side for parts plus an hours labour or so?

    New Sump?

Well after a sticky couple of weeks with garages, the cars back on the road with a new sump and gasket, fitted by the lovely people at vw for only £400! Luckily I'm not the one paying for it (the construction company responsible for the carpark are!) It's not all roses though.... I thought I better take the car to get the tracking checked on the way back from the dealers, been meaning to get it done for ages actually. The guy put my car on the ramp, but then called me over and showed me the movement in my wheel: he could wobble the left wheel backwards and forwards a couple of inches! He said it was probably a ball-joint? Is this likely to be the ball-joint causing the problem? I did have alot more wear on the tyres on that side before I changed them.... Argggghhhhhh! In for a penny in for a pound...

    New Sump?

Thanks for the quick replies! Yeah its a '94 VR, I'll get the sump off tomorrow and have a good look around. The car drove fine for about a mile and a half straight after so fingers crossed its ok! If it's anything too expensive I'll probably put it through insurance as the contractors shouldn't have opened a carpark in that state. Andy

    New Sump?

Hi, Ive tried searching but it doesn't seem to work too well anymore (just me?) Anyway, I was coming out of a newly layed carpark this morning and to cut a long story short the exit hadn' been properly finished. I ended up smacking what I think is my sump into a raised manhole cover pretty hard, it stopped the car dead! Upon inspection there was a shedload of oil leeking from the front right hand corner. Does anyone know where the best place to get a new/2nd hand sump and gasket is? Is it likely to have damaged anything else? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Andy
  17. I'm pretty sure that until you accept a settlement offer the car is still yours. If the inspector has been to see it then you're not mean't to change the car at all but I'm pretty sure they wouldnt notice you swapping anything over. I was told by the insurance company that the buy back figure was 12% of the settlement value, but I guess it's different for every company. Just keep fighting your corner and they'll give in in the end. Good luck! Andy
  18. Have you accepted their settlement figure yet? Andy
  19. Can fit two bmxs with front wheels off, and one side of the rear seats down, and still get the parcel shelf in fine. decent. Probly get three and three people in fine. Poll
  20. Is the mk2 diesel mount just for the gearbox? or can you use both the mk2 diesel gearbox mount and front engine mount? They both seem super cheap from GSF.
  21. I bought one from him in January, "luckily" for me (in the long run!) 2 days later someone went into the back of me and wrote it off. When negotiating with the insurance for a settlement it came out that it had previously been written off in 2006. I thought that buying from a dealer would mean I'd avoid things like that coming up. When I contacted him he just denied all knowledge of it being a previous write off and offered me a ridiculously low buy-back price. Just beware when buying from him and treat it as you would if you were buying privately - get it checked! Andy
  22. Beaten by a Fiat coupe 20vt, man they are quick little buggers! Was looking at them before I got my C but every one I saw had thousands spent in the last few years.... Little did I know Cs would only be a little better :D
  23. Looks good Dean, was down winch today but my phone was dead so couldnt give you a ring! Will have to come see it soon and we can swap stories of annoying squeaks!
  24. Ok I've mentioned this in another thread, but I think it's getting a bit off-topic now. When I turn the key in the ignition the emergency fan comes on, even before starting the engine. I'd like to know if it's safe to just disconnect the black temp sensor from the thermostat housing and drive it normally until I can work out whats actually wrong? I guess I know the answer really but just need some reassurance lol. Andy
