Hey Guys, We're starting up a business doing re-trims. Another chap's doing the stitching. He's learning as he goes, I'm funding it. He's already not shy of a machine, but has never done car trimming. I will make sure that everything that goes out is quality. BUT! For the first few, I'm going to get some random trims. I have a cheap Alcantara supplier, so while the seats we'll be trying will be varied, I can bias it towards Corrados. If anyone's interested, stick your names down, and it'll give me an idea of whether I can do it or not. Limited colours, but the usual combinations, black/grey/red/yellow/blue etc, for now, we're off the shelf.

GODDAMMIT Beeftech! Have you seen the photoshop I've done? Christ I wasn't expecting to be original, but damn. Identical apart from the strips. Right. Re-think. Git. :D Edit : AND I've been looking into 'charging. This is spookily annoying ;-) -
Well if it helps... I think there's provision for a 'group' policy, or fleet insurance. As you're not a Trader, you're technically invalidating it by claiming that you are... But having said that, I've found smaller companies are more willing to bend things. Edit : And the cover will differ greatly. Mine covers me as long as it's not in my name, or in company name, and is put through the books.

Rob : That's a top link... much appreciated! Although I was that pushed for time before, I forgot to get the damn code :-( I think you're right though, it'd be an odd thing to have one but not the other, and I bet ABS was a lot dearer. Meanwhile, in the world here... it was a bit rainy, and I sort of couldn't be bothered moving my bike out of one garage, or the Golf out of the other... SO DOWN THE BODYSHOP WE GOOO .... WEEEEEEEEEEE :D *ahem* Basically, I'm cheating. I'm also going to bin the interior, get some yellow/black bucket seats, and a half-cage :D You can't see the owner of the bodyshop, as he's off sobbing in his office. -
If you want fun, the 16v Mk2's the one, but it's an old car now... the Mk3 is nice enough, just a bit sluggish by comparison, better built though.

Well if it helps, I've had a Corrado G60 and a Golf VR6... Standard, I found the VR6 faster and more fun. The noise helped. Tuning, the G60's cheaper to play with, pulley/chip/charger etc... VR6 tends to be a bit pricier to play with, and less to be done easily. Reliability, both engines bombproof in my experience, apart from charger maybe on G60. I reckon there's a lot to be said for both. Both mine were about equal power (circa 200hp), and I was about to say I'd have the VR6, but there again, I loved the G60.

Stuart, if you ring them and raise merry hell, you'll get a free Ad.. ;-) We tend to do it weekly due to their crapness sometimes. -
Hard as a Glaswegian with Viagra eye-drops mate... love it :D

Hi Stuart, No-one's trying to be harsh, but the autotrader pic is clearly of the car mentioned! Can't blame anyone for jumping to the conclusion ;-) Steve -

Rob : Sadly, it's an aftermarket Webasto... it's not all bad though, I've spoken to Webasto (who incidentally are incredibly helpful), and we reckon it can be brought back to not leak. It's electric and everything lol! Chris : LOL ... thankfully no.. it's sawdust. I had the same initial thought *pukes* Jim : Cheers mate! She will be restored and used. But I must admit, I'm a bit 'worried' about the ABS. It's going to be thoroughly investigated. Weird thing is, I've already had it on a 4-post, and I never spotted any 'new' brake lines. hmmm. -

Hell that's nice Rob... I think I like the strips on, looking at that. I might go for a respray as well, depending on how well this paintwork comes up. I've a sneaking suspicion that it'll mint up very nicely... but I've been wrong before :D Walesy : Top spot! Now I wonder what's going on there... -
Sheesh, will you two just get a room?

Incidentally, what do we think? Stripes off or on? I'm going for 'off', but I'm open to persuasion. -

:D Cheers guys! I must admit, I got it home and thought 'Christ, where do I start'... but it's nowhere near as bad as it looks. Once the sunroof's leak-proofed, the wheels have been cleaned, and it's had a full valet, it'll be a lot better. The difference should be scary. The headlining's my only real problem, but push come to shove, it can be fixed. -
Well, after putting this off (watching American Idol.. Why?) ... some pictures of my 'new' Corrado. This will be a completely different car in 3 months. (Apologies for crapness of cam and Paint, I'm on the craptop) She's suffered from a lack of recent TLC, but mechanically, is ace. Drives fantastically, no smoke, revs like a good 'un. 120k, FSH, receipts to sink a battleship. Sat for three weeks, and dragged out from between my garages. On the key! With lovely BBS RM's, in dire need of a refurb. Faded you say? Naaaah .. Spare RM, twin upswept pipes (not for long), Warning triangle too.. which was nice Sunroof leaks. Bugger. She's filthy inside, bloody dog of some sort... Surprisingly clean engine bay, not a fluid leak in sight. This ... THIS. THING. It will work again, properly. Bodging buggers. Next Week .... She's migrating into a garage for strip-down and indepth valet. Pictures will follow! Edit : Let's see how close we can get her to THIS :D

Easy tiger, it was a veiled compliment ;-) Style over content, I intended to mean that the TT's not to my taste, and the wheels and work so far have made a massive positive difference (I actually like it) given my irrational dislike for the standard car ;-)

My old car for sale with less mileage then when I sold it...
Nuggit replied to Ad2408's topic in General Car Chat
I was thinking that... I sold a minty-mint (fair enough 4-door) silvery Mk2 8v with 70-oddk FSH, etc, on E-Bay about 18 months back for £1350, and I thought that was plenty high enough. -
