  1. I've tried this, got done this year (3pts, 39 in a 30, that I thought was a 40, recently changed, my bad) ... There's quite a few ways to get out of it, but to be quite honest, it's more trouble than it's worth unless you're on 9pts, real lot of hassle.
  2. Dammit, I hoped to be talked out of this :D Soddit. I've got a bodyshop on side, we'll sort it. This Corrado thing is addictive! A week on here, and I've ordered big rims, nearly a full respray, and in discussions for turbo kit. God Dammit. lol

  4. Did you try both driving each others cars?! Admittedly, not at York, but several times on private roads... identical tyres and suspension as well. AVO's and Avon ZZ..1's I think, and it genuinely was level pegging.
  5. If it helps, I used to avg 22-23 in my VR... does sound a bit bad, from similar VW's, I'd be expecting 30-odd...
  6. Furkz... how did you get on with clearances mate? I fancy 8.5's and 7.5's...
  7. It's pretty simple Johnny... if you advertised the car as HPi clear, you're technically obliged to provide proof. If you didn't, he pays. Edit : (Oops, missed 2nd page!)
  8. (I know this has been done) Mate's bird's Rado VR6 against my OBD1 Mk3 VR... Dead level. Tried several times standing and rolling. Rolling, the Corrado had a slight edge. York Dragway settled it... Corrado Terminal higher, times identical.
  9. I had one in a couple of years back. Incredible amounts of fun to drive, and the kind of car you just keep looking at. I'd have one, no worries.
  10. seems to me that you're just gonna have to bring this one back to it's former splendour then!! No worries there! I've already spoken to our bodyshop-chap, and it's onnnnn :D (weird though, I've known a few people with Corrados, even had a few in, and never really took the time to enjoy them as a car. Very underrated. The Renault Alpine of Germany)
  11. Furkz.. what are/were you running? (size-wise) I've had an urge to go wider for some reason. It may be beer.
  12. I'd say two hours a side, plus bits... 120+ seems a bit high, if you estimate labour @ £20/hour. (Edit, I know somebody's going to say it, but surely bearing's aren't more than twenty quid a side are they?)
  13. Winner, cheers pal! (sorry for hi-jack shephard)
  14. My quote : Both Wipers Knackered Dip Beam NW Brake Lights NW Steering rack gaiter insecure Parking Brake Crap Small weld under battery Which effectively comes down to : 2 wipers, a switch, a ziptie, a fuse, 94 seconds of welding, and a bit of a faff with the rear brakes. And the price they wanted? £250 trade. Hope that helps. Steve P.S. Flusted : Couldn't pass on any tips on the HB could you? I'm due for a go at this as well...
  15. Agree with the 2L comment... I'd try dropping the pressures to 30psi all round and see how you get on.
  16. I doubt if anyone'll spot the 1/2" difference anyway ;-) Looking at mine, I think you're right though, I can't see an 8" with a standard-size tyre going under without problems, could be wrong, but my measurements say 'angle-grinder'...

    Weird Starter

If you hear the starter click once it'd suggest a stuck starter solenoid. Bashing with big stick can help in an emergency! If it clicks repeatedly, sounds like low battery.
  18. Cheers mate... That's exactly what I'm after as well, 1.5's ... just to make them look a bit more 'interesting'! Steve

    HELP!

CAPS'll value it, but I don't think you'd like the price...
  20. Hey Guys, As topic really, does anyone have any links on where I can get some? Cheers!

    soundproofing?

SOAB : pound for pound, there's not much difference mate, surprisingly... when you apply soundproofing, it's a lot easier and more economical to cut it into small strips, which allows easier working anyway!

    soundproofing?

Try sticky-back lead-flashing chaps, Used in many pro installs, well-kept secret (hell, I'm out of it now), and 20 quid trade for a bloody great roll from a builder's merchants.
  23. Okay : (apologies if I'm preaching to the converted, and I don't know Corrado Specifics) To check for a spark : Remove spark plug, insert in HT lead, and hold against earthed part of engine (head should do as a rule), and look for spark. If no spark, try same thing with the lead from Coil-Distributor. If still no spark, check earths and connections around Coil. If still no spark, check relays and fuses, and any earthing to the bodywork. If *still* no spark, take it to an auto-electrician, but as a rule, things don't just *stop* working. Trace anything you've touched in the past twelve months, all this cold weather won't be helping. Cars tend to get cracked rotors/dizzy caps with all this frost, I've had a car display identical symptoms with a shagged rotor arm.
  24. Cheers guys, I've got very drunk to soften the blow! *grumbles* I still love the car though. I'm a sportscar trader, I fell in love with the (obviously!) yellow Corrado at the auctions, and I'm determined it's going to be 'my' car. Even with it's faded paint and corroded RM's, it still turns heads :D Says something though, I've owned some awesome cars, and both me and my associate both want Corrado's now after driving and seeing this one.
  25. *joins in* Picked mine up from the garage, along with it's leather-bound-securicor-delivered MOT Fail sheet. Bugger. And the roof leaks.
