  1. Six pot or not it's got to be done. I'm only going to see one on the road and lust after it. I might as well resign myself to it now and start saving. If I can resist getting another Rado and just use my company car I reckon I can save up loads by the time they are a bit more readily available. If I can resist buying another Rado.... But I can get my coupe fix at the weekends with my girlfriend's Celica.
  2. WTF?! Did someone just buy it from new and leave it in dry storage for 16 years? That is mental. I can't imagine spending 40k on it though. And that's not just because I haven't got 40k either....
  3. Cheers m8! hopefuuly the head gasket is ok now!! But i think it would be good to have one on the forum anyway!! JUST in case.lol :D That's mad. You'll be the third person I know of in the last few weeks that has been told by a garage that their HG is gone and then it turns out it's alright. There's some kind of conspiracy....
  4. Nice one. I was gonna do the same but for various reasons I didn't end up doing so. Oh well, I'll just have to wait for next year. Which does give me time to save up a bigger deposit which is always good.
  5. There are rumours of a 2.0 litre TDI as well. 168bhp. Wow. From what I've heard the 2.0TFSi is the slightly updated one going into the mk6 GTI. It's slightly up on ponies over the mk5 so that'll be none to shabby hopefully. Think it'll have the same sort of output as the Edition 30 if memory serves. About 225bhp. Cue Andy665 to tell me I'm talking a load of rubbish....
  6. Is cool man. I'll forgive you. Just this once.... I agree. It's a Peach. Wasn't sure at first but now I love it. And I'm sure when I see one for the first time in real life it will result in trouser related embarrassment.
  7. All the words Jimbo  Jim I'm so offended. You mean you just skimmed through my post without reading it word for word?... I'm shocked and appalled.
  8. Just been reading this weeks Auto Express and it has a cool little pull out with spy shots of secret new cars. Looks like it's gonna be an interesting year. Jim if you're serious about the 500 you've got to wait for the Abarth mate. 0-60 in 8 seconds in that little thing. Awesome. There's a really interesting Audi proto car that nobody knows what it is but apparently it's due in 2010. There's the R8 V10 which looks just like the V8. Ferrari are building a new Dino out this year. That's the first I've heard of it which disturbs me a little. How have I missed that? :? VW wise there is the mk6 golf. Disguised but it looks a bit bland in the exposed areas. Not too sure about that, the next mk3 maybe? There's the desert pics of the Scirocco on ickle wheels wearing bondage gear. And the Passat coupe which I've seen properly and looks like a good effort. Here's hoping it's not another Phaeton. Which it won't be as long as it's priced properly, and if they give it an R36 engine, which I understand they will. There's the Porsche Panamera V10, which just doesn't look right from what I can see. If they were going to make a saloon they should have just had the balls to make a saloon. Not a saloon-coupe hybrid thing. Most exciting for me is the Lexus LF-A Supercar. Mmmmmm, V10 powered Lexus bad ass 225mph supercar. Want. And it's sure to give us Rado owners automatic spoiler envy on a scale not seen since the Veyron. I am potentially completely and utterly alone in my love of Japanese cars on here, but I can live with that. Also the Nissan GT-R. Also want. But no grey imports as Nissan will crush anybody caught doing it for profit. And lastly the Jag XFR. I think the XF is gorgeous (especially compared to the S-Type) and this one has an R so it's bound to be even better. Shonkyness is provided courtesy of the BMW X1 :pukeright:, the BMW X6 :pukeright:, and the BMW PAS :pukeright:.
  9. No probs. I live in the same town as you and it's hardly a big town at that so I couldn't sit back and not offer to help in any way I could! :D
  10. The actual engine itself is relatively basic but surely you've got to get the charger off and stuff? That's the bit I'd be unsure of. Having said that if you do find someone experienced willing to help and you need a spare pair of hands I have a big torque wrench and some splined sockets. :D I'd be more than willing to lend a hand.
  11. I really dunno m8! Think i will get it all done and gonna have to sell her! :( :( :( :( :( :( That's a tough one buddy. You'd have to think hard about that one. After getting all the work done you'd have to make sure there's gonna be enough change left after selling to make it worthwhile. Otherwise you'll feel even worse about it. You just wanna concentrate on getting it sorted I think. And then decide what you want to do with the car afterwards. Totally agree. Got to be worth a shot.
  12. I'd offer to help I really would, but I should imagine there's a lot more involved with a G than a valver, and I just wouldn't be confident enough in what I'm doing to carry out that kind of work on someone else's car. It was my worst nightmare when I had mine. Either that or the crank bolt going. Why do they do this to us?...
  13. Yikes! Did they do a compression test on the engine? What signs did they say led them to that conclusion? The reason I ask is that I've had a couple of people come to me saying a garage (the same garage I might add) has told them their gasket has gone and it's been nothing of the sort in both cases. Not doubting the people you went to mind. They couldn't possibly be as shonky as the cowboys my colleagues went to. Mate I'm gutted for you. :( That's got to be a big old job on a G60. I did it on a 9A last year it was a pain in the ass big time. Price wise I have no idea I'm afraid. Lots though. :(
  14. Gutted for the family. :( It's an awful thing to happen whatever car the person is driving.
  15. I never heard anything either. Oh well, was only messing around to be honest. It's not like I'm ever going to buy a Laguna. Ever.
  16. If everyone buys one it may work to your advantage. You may be able to find some really good second hand deals this time next year. And you're never gonna get exclusivity with a car like the 500. Well, maybe for the first day it comes out. I shouldn't let that put you off though. If everyone had a Rado I'd still drive one. If I still had one.... :(
  17. Hmmmm... an inspired work. The unique social commentary is second only to the random guy on a bike at the end.
  18. Have you heard what they're doing for the launch of the car? They are giving one a ride on the London eye at 8 pm on Jan 21st because that is exactly 500 hours into the new year. Cheeeeesssseeeeeyyy! I get a distinct feeling these cars are going to be very popular though and will probably be everywhere in a short space of time. Good time to be a Fiat dealer.... Linky!
  19. I'm starting to think the mk5 GTI might be a better idea after all.... Is it going to be any more expensive? Really?
  20. Not much room to swing a spanner mind....
  21. Dude, it's gotta be a 500. But, as James May pointed out, it's gotta be petrol. That thing with the rev counter and the speedo is a really neat idea. That would keep me entertained for hours....
  22. It is good to see you guys posting pleasant experiences and giving shout outs to good dealers. It was never my intention for this thread to only become a naming and shaming forum for poor salesmen. Although I am in the trade myself now, on that particular day I was just another member of the car buying public, wanting to ask about the Iroc or just see what kind of a deal they could do me on a Mk5 GTI for when I'm settled in my new role and my disposable income has increased somewhat. I'm glad it has turned out to be a discussion of how we are perceived by the salesmen, whether they get it wrong or right. There are probably just as many good experiences listed as bad ones, and when you consider how easy it is to criticize others that makes me feel a lot better about it.
  23. That's awesome! You're a braver man than I though!
  24. It's just all backwards with some people. Why do some sales execs think the customers have to live up to their expectations? They're the ones that have to live up to the customers expectations. Whether that customer turns up wearing a tailored suit or a potato sack. Edit: Sorry to keep repeating myself. But it has wound me up greatly.
