Checked the back and thankfully it isn't cream  If you had that spare bit going i'll take it :norty:
-
 Please tell me you found these pics somewhere online, because my conscience can't cope with the fact that you've gone and done all of this for my benefit! If so, i'm touched! Thank you so much for going to the effort :luvlove: If infact you did find them then it's ok, the love is still here :norty: I never realised there was so much to these seats and the glue comment has worried me a little - You're right I think it would be best to restitch the whole piece. And i'd rather have a different shade of carpet at the back than squished, hard shrunken leather on the front! Only just seen that the central bench would have to be trimmed too. I only hope that once trimmed, the fresh leather doesn't overpower its dirty, abused twin. Stitching, too. If anyone knows of a decent trimmer i'm all ears! David, is there one near you? I can come up and give you a hug  You're a star, thanks again

Thanks for the input guys - i'll check the back of the seats tomorrow and will provide pics. If I have some time i'll try to remove the rear seat, no idea how to but i'm sure it will all make sense once I get stuck in :norty:
-
Quite an interesting read, thanks for that..never realised leather was such a bastard :mad2: . The side cushions do appear to have shrunk (therefore squishing down the padding underneath? ) But the middle bit still seems odd. Do you not think a part is missing then Mr B? :luvlove:

Some more pictures as promised. From what I can see everything else is the same, although the poo seat seems to be more sunken and the side-backing bolster things are alot flatter compared to the other one. That or the back cushion consists of everything (i.e. the sides + central bit?) It's almost as if a large item has been sat there for ages or something  . The hard backing looks all manky too :( Also attached a picture of the stitching close up, the side stitching seems to be riddled with holes, but at the same time the horizontal stitching is full? Strange, but i think it *might* just be missing the cushiony part. Anyone else care to guess?

It would be very kind if you could sort me out, just let us know of postage costs and i'll send you the moolah right away :luvlove: :luvlove: Davidwort fixed it for me? Almost :)

davidwort :luvlove: Can you believe I failed to notice the other post you left me earlier! You're trying to scare me now right, with all this talk of home made benches! Hopefully nobody would have gone to such effort to bodge it :( ? I've had a quick glance at the stitching and there appears to be some missing on the back cushion part, but as you (and Mr beige) have said, it almost looks like an entirely different seat aswell. From what I saw it looked the same, but I promise that tomorrow evening I shall take some more pics and see if I can unearth anything. Thanks for checking ETKA for me, i completely forgot about that ever since VAGCAT decided to be gay and stop working. And thanks for the offer! I'm in foamy paradise - Mr B or DW? If you have to physically tear your spares apart then i'd rather take Mr B's half-a-seat. If you don't mind however, i'll take both offers! Can never have too much foam eh. Ofcourse i'll cover all costs and in turn will mail some love :luvlove: Nick

Just checked your location and it seems rather far :( If you could post (at my cost) i'd love you forever and you can have all the beers your innards can handle  And indeed it is shiney! I didn't want it to look out of place in an otherwise grubby engine bay. That, and nobody sells lower half 50mm parts anywhere.
-
That would be great if you wouldn't mind! I could come and collect at some point too (or pay for postage). Is there anything at all you may want in return? I still have that manifold I got from you many moons ago :norty: (still unused) Do you know if the cushion underneath is the same thickness and shape as the leathers? Thanks :luvlove:
-
I'm reeeeally really hoping it can be this simple! Just worried about stitch patterns and the like, but i shouldn't be so hasty as to doubt a trimmers skills  But as Mr.Beige says, it might be a different seat? :( Fingers crossed!

:( Are there any seats which are similar to the corrado rear that you know of then? (that it could be). It's such an annoying find :bad-words: From what I remember all of the other features seem to be the same but i'll have to take some more pictures later just to be sure. When you say get another seat back trimmed do you mean the cushion part missing, or the whole seat? And to repeat myself, are the rear seats separate or a complete joined bench/hump combo? Thanks :luvlove:
-
Ok, i'll admit it. I've never sat in the rear seats of a Corrado before. Never had reason to, and tbh never really gave them much thought apart from the odd spring clean. You know sometimes when looking at a car you're thinking about buying you always seem to miss out or overlook something? Well that's what I discovered last night. Whilst admiring the rear bench ( :dorky: ), I suddenly thought, "Hold up, that doesn't look right  - the seats were odd, but at the same time they weren't. Anyway, as they say, a picture can paint a thousand words - so i've attached one. Check that left seat. It seems like it's missing its back padding..or is it?! If you sit it in, it feels like your back is being supported by something as hard as wood! Is it missing a cushion piece which has ripped off? No idea...a friend thought it could be an entirely different seat but surely not?! Why would VW make a seat without back softness?! Cushiony bit aside, everything is the same :/ Annoying? Definitely. I'd long dreamed of a cream interior and this is what I get. Okay, so you could say I was a bit haphazard with my car selection so I am partly to blame, but surely the previous owner should have mentioned it! I asked him, and funnily enough he "doesn't know what i'm talking about".... ¬_¬. So what are my options? It's not as easy as just buying a new rear bench in cream, in fact looking at the forum yesterday I noticed a cream corrado interior sold on eBay for over £700!. Can anyone shed light on what the hell has happened to my seat? If anyone has ripped off seat material before could they verify that there is some piece missing? My initial thought (if this is the case) is to buy a rear bench (is the bench one big unit or are the seats separate?), take off the cushioned portion and get it re-trimmed and stitched to the seat. Probably pricey. On the other hand I could get the whole rear bench done, and i'm guessing matching the colour won't be too hard. Or, I could do what my folks say and "forget about it, you won't sit there anyway". Nice. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I need to plot my escape from this tale of stiffness.

Looking good, solitudes look great! What colour are they? (quite hard to tell from here). Paintwork looks much better than mine, too. Also, your rear vr6/storm badges seem to be the wrong way round :confused4: Either that or mines wrong

Could be an air leak, have you checked all of the intake hoses (plus hoses to the ISV and one below it under the right hand side of the manifold)? I had a similar problem recently, where it would start but not idle - took off all of the hoses from the airbox to the TB and reconnected them again which seemed to do the trick. Good luck

Aah, back in the ghetto they lie. Anyone else prefer the early style bonnets? I think they look much meaner...and wow, the storm needs lowering!

 yes, that would be my gf being camera shy! Cheers for the comment, people say there is a way to retain the plate should i sell, but i have no idea...wouldn't the rado then become a Q plate? :confused4: always did like the green storm and beige leather, very nice. power at the wheels was very good in 2003 too! you can put the plate on retention for a fee and then the car would get assigned an unused plate from that year, so it would stay as a P plate or whatever. Davidwort :luvlove: Yeah the power figures were quite a surprise although i doubt it's pushing out that much now! Cheers for the heads up regarding the license plate, would be nice to put it on retention. It's strange, the 16v feels faster (i guess due to the shear lack of low down power) but the VR6 speedo surprises me whenever i glance. And i never knew you got yourself an 8v! Are those engines shared with some mk3s?

£1100! Jeez that's a fair whack, but to be fair the car does look really nice :salute: If its stonechipped to feckery I'd be trying my hardest to get a perfect match, its going to look worse imo if you've got a load of slightly different coloured spots peppering it. My £0.02 I stupidly took my VR to VW for its first service. Ouch. Bit of a hijak (sorry), but i was planning on taking mine to Imperial Way in dec, Jim. Obv a no-no then? Any recommendations? (i.e. local not at DG you nutter  )

So i was having a look through the plethora of receipts/service history/etc and was quite surprised to see a Dyno plot from AmD in 2003  Obviously this was at the old Bicester AmD but seeming as i don't have access to a scanner at home, a typed copy is : ------------------------------------------------------------------ Car Type: Corrado VR6 Test Eng: Gary () Date: 18-02-2003 Comments: Test run. Ram Air Filter. AmD ECU Re-Chip -Summary- Maximum Power Speed: 5720rpm (108.5mph in gear used) Power at flywheel (corrected): 212.4bhp Power at flywheel (measured): 213.5bhp Power at wheels: 170.2bhp Power loss (transmission, tyres, etc.): 43.3bhp (25.4%) Maximum torque speed: 4376rpm (83.0mph in gear used) Maximum engine torque: 206.4 lb ft Maximum road speed reached in test: 120.5mph Maximum engine speed reached in test: 6353rpm Min. Ambient temperature: 16c Max. Ambient temperature: 22c Barometric pressure: 1020mb ------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm not really too clued up on dyno's and power stuff (i'm usually just happy enough to get the cars working 100% for once!), but I think the results are maybe a bit optimistic considering the stuff done? Can anyone in the know also explain the "corrected" and "measured" bhp for me? Will try to scan the graphs in when i remember to bring the prints to the office 8)

Thanks for the replies - I can understand about the weight difference being taken into account, was just a bit confused at the gwerks site where I ordered mine from - shows only 1 variant for Corrados? http://www.g-werks.com/Site/Default.aspx?PageURL=Products_chassis_Suspension_Weitec_Coilovers

As per title - currently have some Weitec Hicon GT's and was wondering if they are a straight swap? Thanks 8)

Thanks mate 8) - look out, they might be for sale soon!
