g60karmann replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
I cried as I saw the massive scratch left on my new plus newly painted rear bumper by some gutless swine at work :pale: -

K&N panel with snorkel removed and cold air feed from below fog light, definetly the best bet for a g60 -

cheers boost monkey!!! I thought the case was the emissions, but I recently got some work done at a local garage and asked him there what the deal was. He basically said he puts the car details into the MOT system and it tells him what emissions tests to run, he then said if it comes up as a CAT test then my car without one wouldn't pass. Although the car is running top notch, never smokes doesn't drink fuel (well no more than you would expect!) so I might just give it a go and see if it fails. I always thought it was a case that any car after 91 needed one. Which made no sense to me cause then you could have a 90 car with a 3.2 24v from a 99 car and not bother with a CAT?!?!? I didn't want to cause trouble on here just wanted some clarification as everyone including garages say different things.

Does anyone know a garage that is likely to ignore the lack of CAT on my 92 g60? Anywhere within an hour of Swindon is good Cheers

on the argument that carrado's are old and need worn parts replacing, this is true, but that doesn't mean new cars are plain sailing. My mums new polo for instance, 2 years old and has had 3 new clutch's and a new gear box! not down to how worn they were they just didn't work smoothly / properly to begin with. She was much happier with her old Mk3 1.6 GLX polo than the new one. If someone wouldn't have knicked / burnt it she would still have that one with 155k on the clock as a lot less went wrong with that! The worst thing about the newer cars to me is the build quality, everything feels loss, the interior in the new polo has developed more squeeks n rattles than my solid mount slammed rado! no one makes individual cars anymore, you don't even notice a VW, BMW, Merc driving along anymore, I mean remember when you first started seeing awesome cars like the BMW 850 steaming down the motorway and your jaw would drop. Now when you see (insert generic plastic shark shaped car here) on the roads they just blend in with all the bland.

Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE
g60karmann replied to daves16v's topic in Suppliers Forum
Can you PM me with the details of price and what comes with the kit? Cheers Steve -
I have gone through two sets of standard fog lights and repairing or replacing is not cheap (unless you are lucky enough to be searching the internet 24/7 to snap the second hand ones when they appear). As a set of in-pro fogs and indicators are cheaper than VAG fog lights alone I thought I would give them a go and I'm sticking with them, thinking about the headlights but at £200 I think a FMIC is coming first.

pipercross induction (pk223) or k&n panel filter
g60karmann replied to chrisnick333's topic in Engine Bay
not too sure on the 16v front but keeping the original induction system and replacing the panel filter has always been my preference. VW usually do a good job on induction systems anyway and anything they do that isn't to your liking can be easily removed / modified. I have kept the original induction system on my g60 but removed the snorkel, placed a cold air feed and used a K&N panel. Makes a beautiful noise :D -
I have sprayed my rear indicators red and painted the bulbs green which works sweetly at night but is a bight dull during the day. I have looked around for ages trying to find someone who sells green indicator bulbs, but with no luck, does anyone know of a supplier? LED would be nice

Hello, I have read plenty of good articles about fitting the Rallye front mount intercoolers to a corrado g60, but what about the newer larger intercoolers used on the Mk5 golfs and skoda diesels? Has anyone fitted one of these or know of any how to's? Which will give the best drive improvement with the least pain to fit? They are plentyful and cheap from ebay atm : - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/vw-large-front-mount-intercooler-1-8t-20v-vr6-g60_W0QQitemZ140212289082QQihZ004QQcategoryZ9889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Cheers Steve
