  1. second that!!! strip it out and cage it :D just gone through this thread and I have to say, hat off to you mate fantastic job! can't wait to see this car on the roads
  2. I have a fairly old Jabba Sports charge cooler I'm using a 1.6 golf rad in front of the standard rado g60 rad and don't really get problems with engine water temp until in traffic when it goes up to 100C, but I'm hoping a 70C thermostat and a slim line/extra blade fan will sort this. As for performance of the charge cooler mine does pretty well considering I haven't got it set up completely spot on yet. I still need to make up a header tank, get a much better pump and also looking to get a lighter alloy rad made up with larger gaps between the core pipes to allow more air to flow through to the water rad. The key is to fit the largest radiator you can and the best pump you can. Charge coolers will show their benifits on hot summer days when the intercoolers will struggle with heat soak after spirited runs, also the throttle response is much improved as it is one smooth curve from the charger to the throttle body. The down side to charge cooler is the added weight, but chucking the stereo out will balance that out :)
  3. ok this sounds weird but when I first looked at it i ignored the skirts, bumpers, rear arch duct, spoiler and paint job, then squinted and thought... that rallye style wide arch, if executed properly, could look pretty damn sweet instead of the standard bubble arch, obviously would need a rallye style wide skirt as well. Does anyone else agree or is my taste just my own :)
  4. well if you are used to a corrado then it will feel like a high riding position, I was trying to crack the seat down further, feels like it should go down a lot further as well, but I think the biggest difference from the drivers seat which I love about both the old scirocco and the corrado is the fact you can see the large bonnet sticking away out the front. All you see out the new scirocco wind screen is road :(
  5. I will try and get a pic on tonight but when I was looking at the back it did look like a slightly larger Z3 M Coupe with the wide arches n small tailgate, if only there was four tailpipes. I have to say it is a great looking car in the flesh. The dashboard was cheap and crap looking though and the back seats have less room than the corrado, not too mention the boot is smaller than the corrado and the tailgate is so small you couldn't get stuff in the deep boot that easily. IMO it isn't amazing at any point, looks ok, drives ok, kinda comfortable, not very spacious. If they would have made it faster, AWD and really aggresive looking it might have ticked one of the boxes and could compete with the TT, but it just doesn't do anything really well sadly :(
  6. I took a 2litre TFSI Scirocco out for a drive on Sunday, was pretty interesting, I took my g60 out for a nice country drive (not too hard cause of the rain) and then picked up the Scirocco. It feels strange to swap from such an old car to a new one as you would expect the brake is very sensitive, didn't really like the feel of any of the controls, I haven't driven a car with DBW throttle before but do they all have a very short range? Felt like only 30% of the movement actually did anything, I guess this can be tweaked with one of the more responsive chips? The handling felt a lot better at speed than it did between 30-50 which was disapointing as I live in Swindon the home of the roundabout. The power curve was a little too smooth for my likeing as well, I never really felt like I was getting pushed back into the seat at all. Trying out the 85mph cruise with the suspension set to comfort was nice though, out of the factory I wouldn't call this a sporty car, there is potential there to be a good fast road car and a comfortable daily driver, I just think it needs to be played around with. Has anyone got a dealer near them with a 1.4 twin charged engine in it yet?
  7. how many kids do you have? can you not fit them in the back of a new scirocco? They are a lot nicer in the flesh than I thought they were in all the pictures I've seen, I'm taking one out for a test drive on Sunday, can't wait to see how it does :)
  8. oh and happy happy birthday!!!
  9. do you have an oil cooler fitted already? running that kinda power I would have thought so, in which case has the stock oil/water cooler been by-passed?
  10. shouldn't cause problems with the insurance company as long as you have registered this with the police as soon as it happened this is a car jacking simple as that. My friends dad used to drive an RS6 avant until four blokes ripped him out of it at the traffic lights, the police found it a week later used for an armed robbery. The insurance paid out just fine, the only problem you might get is covering any mods you had on the car, but I don't know what insurance you have. Hope you are ok and you get it back soon or the money form the insurance
  11. halfords have a buy two get one free on auto glem products atm i got a litre of shampoo, 500ml of alloy cleaner and chamois leather clothes for just over £15. They had leather, upolstry and plastic care as well. I know auto glem isn't the best stuff but when your on a budget its not bad. PS i already had a 500ml of the auto glem super resin polish and it is good stuff, I can also recommend the auto glem window polish
  12. Car: 92 G60 Exhaust: G-Werks two box 2.5" de-cat with standard manifold Opinion: Fitting was off to begin with, had loads of knocking on the rear beam and that was before lowering. Took plenty of re-fitting attempts and searching for the smallest mounts I could find to get it to stop knocking on the rear beam after lowering (not extreme lower either). now it is set up without knocking I am very happy with it, sound is a nice rumble at idle and builds up to a nice throaty sound at high revs. I would recommend this exhaust although I do think the bend between the first and second box needs to be brought forward a bit, I don't know if this is just mine or a design fault.
  13. I don't really like merc's post mid 80's they all look the same... but I have to say something about the amg clk black edition wets my whistle :)
  14. new wheel hub and bearing is £45 and an hour or so job well worth doing the other wheel bearing at the same time
  15. I couldn't agree more about respecting Jap cars I love 'em for their cheap, powerful rear wheel drive fun and I would never knock them on engine build quality or power The interior, body work and general chavy ownership is what lets them down wow wow wow hold up here!!! don't knock the 8v engine, they are rock solid, easy to work on and as far as I have seen can get near 350-400bhp. drag strips are all good fun but lets face it, it comes down to how it drives and what kind of image you want.

    Headlight Loom

does anyone on the forum do uprated head light loom kits? I know Gavin used to before moving abroad if not does anyone have a list of parts and suppliers?
  17. i wonder how lucky you have to be to find one of these in the scrappy to nab the engine out of it :)
  18. has anyone lost the outdoor temp reading from the MFA all together? I don't even get the selection when I cycle through! but then again it's not exactly important, just reach your arm out the window... oh its wet n cold
  19. hmmm I feel a mid-engined 4WD Corrado project a coming :D
  20. I know the 108mpg is 30mph round town but come on fill up once every two months!!! worth forking out £75,000 just on the amount you would save on fuel let alone 3.7 0-60mph and 200+mph top end :D http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIAL/CARS/news/hot_200mph_british_sportscar_with_70mpg.html
  21. you want to beat most other sports cars with your g60? then go turbo, cheap, easy and DIY. But then again it will mean dropping that sweet G-Ladder and isn't that why we bought G60's to begin with? I know how about twin charged? Get the G-Ladder to spool up the turbo :D now that gets complicated and probably not that much extra than if you only had a turbo.
  22. I know what you mean I got fed up of looking for decent second hand late spec fogs and was definetly not going to go for £230 stealer prices for original so went for £165 in-pro but not really likeing the look of them now. yeah i will try to remember to take some pics tonight and post them up, if I don't get back by tonight drop me a PM to remind me
  23. I have a pair of early fogs sitting in the garage you can have for £20 they arn't new but they are crack free and clean pm me if you want them
