  1. for the amount of money saved a 3 phase convertor would be worth it for the the ability to charge your car in 10 mins you could probably get one small enough to fit in the boot or bonnet as there is no engine :)
  2. They are really great cars to work on and learn on as well The quest for more power ever strong and the little budget along with some really bad jobs some garages did on my car led to starting to do things myself. The help from everyone on this forum is great, you start sorting out one problem that would have cost a couple of hundered in a garage and find out it costs you an evening and £25 worth of parts. Anything you get stuck on just search it in this forum and someone has writen an article on it or if not just pop the question and someone will know the answer.
  3. Signed up!! mainly go to the Swindon and Hungerford meets, another one in the month is always welcome :D
  4. I now have a 1.6 golf radiator for the charge cooler it sits right in front of my g60 radiator and the water never gets past 98 degrees even stuck in traffic and when driving the water tends to stick around 80 degrees. There should be no problem with an intercooler of any size being in front of the radiator although I am thinking about getting a better fan for when I am stuck in traffic. If you don't have one already an oil cooler is a must for keeping all temps down including water
  5. oh and check out the interior shot on this link http://puregreencars.com/Green-Cars/Green-Supercars/LightningGT-Electric-SportCar.html very TVR style, although I think this was an earlier prototype looking at the body work and age of the article
  6. you gotta love the Aqua Blue Slimg60 ;) how are those custom made boost pipes doing for you?
  7. yep apparently the top of the range will be about £150k which isn't bad for a super car that will save you £350 odd a year tax, only cost 2.2p per mile and for those in London no congestion charge. I love the idea of the motors on each wheel being indepentant so prefect traction on lift off and also they charge the batteries on braking!!! 10 mins for charging is about how it takes to fill up a 60 litre tank at the pumps at the moment and I have got as little as 250 miles out of it before :( The part that made me laugh was the engine nosie selection... Today I want it to sound like I'm driving a JCB!!
  8. With one of these I think I could : - http://www.lightningcarcompany.co.uk/gallery.php# 0 - 100 in less than 8 seconds
  9. I'll put up a guide of how I fitted mine tonight or tomorrow obviously the boost pipe locations are going to be different but the charge cooler, radiator, pump and overflow tank mounting will be pretty much the same, took about an hour or two.
  10. I have just fitted a Jabba charge cooler to my g60 and that was very very easy to fit there was no cutting or even mounting involved in the second radiator I used a 1.6 golf radiator that sits snug against the plastic sides of the g60 radiator and then the slam panel holds it real tight in place. I got a little in-line electric water pump and going to be fitting a secondary expansion tank as i'm just using the wind screen washer tank at the moment. The main advantage I have seen from this is quicker throttle response due to the reduced pipework and a hell of a lot cooler charge than the original g60 intercooler (not that that will affect your decision). The only issue with the charge cooler I have is that I think the max air pressure it effectively cools is 20psi (still need to confirm this with Jabba) which is no good if you go turbo but fine for a g-ladder, you can get charge coolers that are effective at much higher pressures but they cost a lot. I would go for a charge cooler as there aren't as many around and it is a nice bit of bling under the bonnet (will be posting some pics on my gallery thread tonight)

  12. well there is a month gap to get TAX, I got caught without tax (just bought a car without TAX... £50 mini to get home from York :) ), the police pulled me over I told them the post office was closed and was going to get it in the morning. When you buy TAX you buy it for the whole of that month, you buy it on the 16th you are paying for a whole month but only getting half a month out of it!! I don't understand why they don't just get rid of the yearly TAX and just take it out of the fuel TAX... I mean the TAX on super is 62.8p per litre!!! either that or just do away with the disc and just direct debit it and have it registered to the license of the car?
  13. this is taken from the corrado buying guide on the wiki USA EURO Hg(#'s of boost/vacuum) Comments * 15 200 -23.7 * 55 400 -17.8 * 90 600 -11.9 * 127 800 -5.9 * 148 1000 0 (Atmosphere- ala no boost, charger is bypassed) * 172 1200 2.9 psi (Your charger is dead or big boost leak) * 192 1400 5.8 psi (Your charger is about dead or big boost leak) * 211 1600 8.7 psi (Your charger needs new apex strips or big boost leak) * 228 1800 11.6 psi (Great for stock pulley, Probably needs new apex strips if 68mm pulley) * 242 2000 14.5 psi (Great for 68mm pulley on stock charger) * 255 2200 17.4 psi (Great for 68mm pulley on heavily ported charger, hold on to your ass fast!!) * 255 and up folks need to be careful with fueling, as the programming maps end at about 242 on the ecu. Dynotuning, and air/fuel/egt gauge, and custom chip recommended I'm only getting about 9psi at the moment and can't find a boost leak so am guessing it is an issue with the charger :(
  14. oh update found somewhere selling Sunday tickets but @ £200!!!
  15. It looks like it is all sold out :( you can only get in for Friday and Saturday
  16. what will i be looking for on the apex strip?
  17. reading the buyers guide on the knowledge base this could be down to an apex strip failure on the g-lader? The last re-build was at G-Werks 33k miles ago so it is coming close to needing a re-build and when I put the RSR on the old plastic baffle did have quite a bit of oil in it, should there be any oil out of the charger in the boost pipes or is this a sign of a re-build really being needed?
  18. I have noticed some pinking on hard driving in my car. I recently fitted a boost and an air / fuel gauge, under normal driving without boost the mixture is just right but as soon as I hit full throttle the air / fuel turns to lean (no leds lit) and the boost, even at 5500rpm, doesn't even reach 10psi (just over 9psi). I have just fitted a charge cooler and samco hoses and checked for boost leaks after fitting and didn't find any leaks. I am going to be fitting some larger injectors, 68mm pulley and sns chip this week, but am slightly worried about doing this if there is a problem with the car. I had the car looked at for fueling issues and asked the guy to check all the sensors and he did an emissions test and it even passed without the cat. So is there anything else it could be?
  19. credit crunch my eye what a bunch of scaremongering that creates an excuse to raise prices, its idiotic fear that will lead us into financial trouble
  20. definetly go with the VAG water pump, I did mine a couple of months ago and lets face it that will probably out last the car now
  21. mwa ha ha your friend has bought a £169 hair dryer for his golfs induction system  I would think the space the hair dryer takes up in the induction tube will restrict power rather than gain him any Hate to say this but the guy selling this looks like the kinda guy that sells the wanker lights chavs put on their washer jets, I would definetly recommend not purchasing this unless you are :cuckoo:
  22. I'm guessing this is a rear brace? if it is then some drilling is needed :norty: take out the shocks first though!!!
  23. totally agree on the z3m coupe what an awesome car and how different it is from its hair dressers roots would have one if I could afford the insurance... maybe in a couple of years
  24. as the artical clearly states the most common way to produce hydrogen is to use fossil fuels that actually produces more carbon dioxide than the burning of an equivalent quantity of petrol or deisel :cuckoo: go figure its another GREEN marketing campaign
  25. yeah what happened to the cough cough sick days to get it done ;)
