If it scans OK, I can supervectorate it so that it isn't several Gigabytes in size... Will output a PDF with maximum zoom capability.

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
ProdigalSon replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Installed new Bosch W6DPO spark plugs. Was previously using triple-electrode NGK sparks with a mahoooosive spark gap  Old plugs looked fine, but glad to have 'proper' plugs for peace of mind  Took the car out for a quick test drive, all fine (as expected!) Noted the date, will check them again in 3 years time... :) -

Picked up boost monkey's spare KR from Swindon, and manhandled it with him and the missus out of the 4x4 and down the narrow passage to the back of the house on a 2-ton engine crane. Width of crane: 100cm. Width of gates: 85cm. Number of times had to put engine down and move crane past an obstacle: 3. Total time taken 1h 45m. Knackered, but glad it's done  -

Helped boost monkey remove his carpets (yes, the full 'seats out' version) and clean them, plus deleted most of my remaining carbon canister hardware, just have to find an elegant way to plug the vacuum line on the front of the inlet manifold, and also insert a thermometer into the larger port on the rear of the throttle body... According to VAGCat, it doesn't look like the subframes are the same, unless the Golf/Jetta had the same engine, which is OK for 16V (KR and 9A) owners, but doesn't leave a huge number of donor cars for G60 (PG) owners... ETKA might be more helpful I guess. Wonder if there are other significant weight bearing parts that have gone the same way
-
Was in the local VW dealer today and enquired about a replacement Corrado subframe. It turns out that there are none in stock in the UK, none in Germany, and although the factory can make them to order, they are over £300 and manufacturing times can't be offered... Does this worry anyone? :?

So, so wrong... What were they thinking? But then 'swarfega' could be very dodgy in another language too  -

Swarfega ftw! Swarfega.jpg[/attachment:dzalhhow] -
Good call, and even if you don't swap anything, it will still be a lot lighter  Crafty bunch, us

Not sure about new/2nd-hand or typical prices for a metering unit, but for wiring diagrams etc, look here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65476&st=0&sk=t&sd=a#p760778 Yandards is a legend :notworthy:

KR 16v not starting (done search) LONG POST
ProdigalSon replied to boost monkey's topic in Engine Bay
(Update: It runs! See this thread for the ongoing saga: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=65658 ) This thread is so useful that I've pointed someone else at it already :D -
OK, after about 2 weeks of playing with boost monkey's new valver (viewtopic.php?f=11&t=65658), trying to get electrics sorted and get it running and get the windows up... he has returned the favour and helped me swap out the two remaining engine bay rubber fuel lines :D The hose to the fuel pressure sender had obviously been trimmed and refitted previously, so it wasn't in bad condition, but the send into the fuel rail was a lot worse. Here's the end that connects to the rail: climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfFuel Send Hose at Rail.jpg[/attachment:29u4xs4q] Here's the end that junctions with the plastic fuel line from the pump: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfFuel Send Hose at Junction.jpg[/attachment:29u4xs4q] Here's the date of manufacture stamped on the hose: Fuel Send Hose Date.jpg[/attachment:29u4xs4q] Yes, that's right, week 20 of 1991, so nearly 17 years old! Glad I replaced them, hopefully they will kill the worrying smell of petrol in the mornings, and let me use the heater without gassing myself :D

Atn: G60 Corrado owners (don't know about the others)
ProdigalSon replied to Tempest's topic in Engine Bay
And today I pulled of the fuel rail send and the pressure switch send hoses - more cracks as expected  Fuel Send Hose at Junction.jpg[/attachment:3jm5a3ge] This one was manufactured in 1991. Get those old hoses replaced, people! I did buy a small fire extinguisher just in case I had an incident before I could get these sorted, but I'm keeping it in the car anyway. You never know, perhaps I can help someone else  -

Swapped out the other two rubber fuel lines in the engine bay with OE parts. The pressure switch hose had previously been 'trimmed' at both ends and refitted, so it wasn't too bad, but the original '91 hose to the fuel rail was a bit dodgy... Fuel Send Hose at Junction.jpg[/attachment:1in4kpxm] Hopefully that will be the last of the I-can't-put-my-heater-on-in-the-winter-mornings-because-I'll-throw-up-from-the-petrol-fumes scenario  [Edit: new fuel pipes have sorted the petrol smell in the mornings :D ] -
Strip out all the unnecessary weight and sell those bits for extra tuning cash? Or is that cheating? :D
-
Er, is there a glossary somewhere, or can someone translate please? :help: :confused4:  Thanks :D
-
Yeah...the badge causes too much turbulence and the lack of airflow to the rad makes your engine overheat...? No, one of the clips that sits in the bumper has broken, and although it looks OK, under extreme braking or at high speed it could fly out and blind a small child, or down an aircraft, or cause a 312-car pileup. It's just not worth the risk to humankind... What do you think, is my sales pitch smooth enough to get the Financial Controller to agree? :D
-
Definitely think that breaking the car for parts will get you more money than selling it intact right now, but it's lot more effort and heartache - just ask mrbeige... Leather Recaros seem to be one of those things that everyone says they want, but few actually buy, if that makes sense! :? Isn't Dinkus trying to sell his still? Was just thinking that if I went abroad to work/live for a while, I would want to fit aircon to my C, but that's a bit of a pipedream! You may as well keep it, it's more hassle than it's worth to sell/strip it :D
-
Selling? Bagsy! Just kidding, I have one lovely C already, and two would just be greedy... and would result in camping holidays in the back garden rather than somewhere nicer, if you know what I mean  Your bolt adventures sound par for the course, I know of several people who have run into the same thing recently. We're going to be replacing the wishbones on boost monkey's valver soon, so have all that excitement to look forward to
-
My grille is cracked, so I'm just going to have to get a debadged 3-bar... for safety reasons and stuff. It's quite technical.
-
You get this when driving it properly  Yep, that's about right! I can get 30-40mpg if the throttle never goes past halfway and the charger isn't used, or between 20-25mpg for a fast burn :D I was getting 16-18mpg at one point, but my ECU was overfuelling like a bandit :( AFR was as rich as 10:1 once we'd put it on an exhaust gas analyser  Good work with the rebuild, it's looking lovely, and you'll just enjoy it more and more as Summer rolls in 8)
-
That's a lovely looking car, and the Porsche looks nice too :) The C is an 8V then - is it the 1.8 or the 2.0? I can't see any badges there... Mine's an 8V too, although it is *ahem* 'augmented'. You should try a tweaked G60 for low-end torque 8) *waits for outraged replies from G60/VR6 turbo owners*  It's all relative guys  I know what it's like to have a wishbone bolt stuck, we had to put a 1m breaker bar on that bolt and strip the thread off it to get it out! Hope yours doesn't require anything so drastic :D

Aaah, Pearl White, wasn't sure because of the bluish lighting in the upper photos... Really nice paintjob, and wicked Brembos :D
