  1. If the airbox or charger outlet (black plastic bit) are drilled/modified or have any gaps or holes, you will definitely hear a growl, which will be more like a womp-womp sound if you have a smaller than 78mm (standard) pulley. The airbox and the outlet are designed to disrupt the resonances that might otherwise make the charger noise 'too loud'. Any changes, whether deliberate or accidental, can unleash the beast! If you have a leak in a boost pipe, you might hear a growl, but most of the audible air pulsation is reduced by the time it gets to the throttle body. Let's hope it's not an oil seal that has popped :( Let us know how the boost test goes
  2. Get them RX2s on! Stop making us wait  Just say that you need to burn off "some fuel contamination in the oil" and rag it down to your sister's in London :D Unless... you have already got them and are going to turn up on Sunday with a big 'surprise surprise!' grin on your face?! :norty: :nono:
  3. Handle_boost_monkey_5792.jpg[/attachment:3uuhumog] OK, happy now?
  4. Well, almost perfect... Forgot to use a second screwdriver to lever the molegrips away from the handle, so me and Jon ended up playing tug-o-war trying to get the pivot pin out!  The original pics are 4 times larger, in case you want to show the orientation of the 'new style' striker in your (excellent) instruction sheet. And I won't want royalties either
  5. OK, a quick guided tour of a handle 'repair' - passengers side as it happens, but the driver's side is a mirror image of it... Ironically it's actually harder to replace the 'striker' part from a working handle than it is to repair a broken one  Thanks to boost monkey for an extra set of hands to help pull the old striker out. 6. Have just repaired my passenger's side door handle as a bit of preventative maintenance! Before: :? climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfHandle_01_5778.jpg[/attachment:kk6alzug] After: :D 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfHandle_06_5785.jpg[/attachment:kk6alzug] The original driver's side handle striker:  Handle_09_5796.jpg[/attachment:kk6alzug] Thanks to daves16v for the repair kit, and to boost monkey for lending a second pair of hands to help do this! :thumb right: PS. Dave, I have more pics if you want them...
  7. Already there, bro, already there  8) :D PS. I took your advice Daz and didn't get a sports cat, but the replacement 'stock' unit was obviously less restrictive than the original anyway :thumb right: I could see way more daylight through the new cat than the old one :) Hopefully it will last a good long time as it has twice the number of cells than the 'sports' variant. The drive is so much better now, I can't wait to get the respray done so her looks match her feel... Just the small matter of saving the cash!
  8. Hi Lee, thanks, we got there in the end! Had a quick look at the pump and it says 'FSE FACET' on it... I know that it is a constant 5psi universal pump fed from a switched 12V feed (taken off the ignition coil). You will see these used for water, fuel, and oil pumping (but preferably not at the same time! ) Do a search - there are loads of vendors, prices are about £50+ Rough measurement is about 1 litre for the whole system (ie. the sump the 3m of braided hose to and from the pump/charger). No worries
  9. No idea, its what my draper compression gauage said on the dial I've got the same Draper gauge - the pressure readings are relative (ie. in addition to atmospheric pressure), the minimum reading is 0 bar, which is what you get when it is 'zeroed'! The other useful thing to check is the variation between cylinders, if there is more than 3 bar difference between any of the cylinders, you have a major problem... :( My variance was about 1/3 bar 8)
  10. Bought - Steve at Pitstop Developments fitted it while Daz was refurbing my charger - see pics on my member's gallery thread: http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... =0#p703364 Not the cheapest mod, and probably easy to do if you are reasonably mechanically able (I'm getting there!), but I'm really glad I did it - think it may extend the life of my G60 and could improve its performance...
  11. ??! Hitler?! Wha? You are one crazy nutbar, broseph.
  12. Hi Lee, I don't have a Stage 4 port on my G60 (yet ), but my SNS chip and 68mm pulley has made big differences in two areas: 1) More boost at lower rpm with the 68mm pulley, with boost topping out at about 1 bar at redline (14-15psi) 2) Anti-lag algorithm in the SNS chip radically reduces the time it takes for the ECU to change fuelling maps and get a response from throttle changes The first just means that the engine can make more power (as long as all other engine things are up to it!), typically 10-15% more than stock, so up to the 180-190bhp region. The second feels pretty savage at first until you realise how tame the factory code is (perhaps to provide a 'smooth' ride with 'economy'?) I got this work done when my charger was serviced, back in August, and I had to wait for the new charger seals to bed in properly before I could go mad with the loud pedal - very hard to be restrained for 400 miles! However, you also need to make sure that the tuning is right, as mine was originally a little bit rich, and when my lambda died that became very rich, so it has recently been sluggish and with poor mpg to boot. Daz at G-Werkz gave it a decent tune up a couple of weeks ago and now it flies and gives 30+ mpg on a 10 mile burn 8) A couple of things you'd notice are the higher pitch hum of the charger with a 68mm pulley, and if you remove the 'trumpet' from the airbox, you can get a weird beating noise as the charger and engine noises alternate between reinforcing each other and canceling each other - sounds just like a badly worn bearing, but is absolutely fine - just an acoustic effect. Still forced me to put the trumpet back in though! Now that I've got the fuelling sorted, a new cat and a non-blowing exhaust, it is really showing what it can do - namely plaster a permagrin onto my face :D So, I'd say yes, it is worth doing even though you don't have a Stage 4 - that additional porting will make the most of a non-stock pulley but is not essential before you upgrade the charger speed and ECU. PS. I also had a stand-alone oil supply plumbed into the charger, so that the oil pressure feeding the bearings is not engine rpm related, not as hot as the engine, and not as dirty - it has worked a treat so far, the charger oil is still golden colour, it gets less hot and I know it is getting a steady supply at all revs (not starved at idle nor popping the seals at redline!)
  13. I'll have to run those dates past my domestic manager/social secretary  Will defo sort out a date and give you a call this weekend, if you're around?
  14. Er, they are awaiting Potatoshop treatment - did you stick up the one that's already done? The rolling shots didn't work so well as it was too bright and I couldn't get a slow enough shutter speed, but I bought a nice ND4 filter in Japan before Christmas, so that shouldn't be a problem now...
  15. Hmm, not sure about a photoshoot until my car is back to a single colour! More than happy to take pics of you two posers though  Also now have a ND4 filter so that I can use nice slow shutter speeds for full 'wow-you-look-like-you're-drifting-at-700mph!' style pics
  16. Er, Andy, you meant rear hub bearings right? Cos the fronts are a bee-atch! Although not as bad as the Audio Quattro bearings that require a hydraulic press and 10 tons of force to pop them out - yes, that's right, 10 TONS...
  17. Stop - you'll make me blush! Yes, got some pics that you took I think, after I started having serious withdrawal symptoms! :( *after quick search of PC* Look what I found! stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfG60engine.jpg[/attachment:215dpjfb] Corrado92.pdfVW Corrado 1.jpg[/attachment:215dpjfb] passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfVW Corrado 2.jpg[/attachment:215dpjfb] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfVW Corrado 3.jpg[/attachment:215dpjfb] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfCorrado G60 4.JPG[/attachment:215dpjfb] VW Corrado 5.jpg[/attachment:215dpjfb] Cool, let's sort a date. Wheel bearings? Can do. Calipers? What, again?!  Sure, it's all good
  18. Cheers Dave, thanks to you I got the car back today with shiny(?) new MOT form *phew* Will fit passenger side kit in a few days, and might take a pic or two of the newer part if that's useful for you?
  19. :D :D :D Love this place! Andy, fancy burying the hatchet and hooking up for a 3-car minimeet sometime early Feb?
  20. ... and who got Cazza hooked on the C in the first place? Hmm?
  21. Bro, funtimes ahead! Looking forward to giving you a lift to collect your C in a week or so, and convoying back down in style 8) :D Now that my gloom has been sorted, feeling pretty good about the old girl :thumb right: (Corrado that is, not wife - I, er, always feel good about her *remembering she reads this Forum too*)
  22. Bump for, er, a sweet VR :D 8) (Let me know if I'm overdoing it )
  23. PS. looks like a couple of guys are giving you a hard time in that other member's gallery, just ignore them
  24. Hey Andy, Good news with your MOT :thumb right: As you may have heard, mine wasn't quite so plain sailing  So when do your rims arrive? Got the camera ready? Take it easy :)
  25. Give us something to post about! Got your new BBS rims yet? Got pics? Why, yes I do! :D
