  1. It's a 1990 plate yo, I'm all ABOUT the earlies. Yeah tbh, the calipers are late spec, but I'm hoping I can find these little double ended male connectors.
  2. what a girl. Mine look like these ones: No signs of extra little pipey bits
  3. Does anyone know whether the short stubby metal pipe coming out of 280mm calipers (and maybe others) is supposed to be part of the flexi hose or part of the caliper? I have some new rubber flexi hoses and I have some 280s... but I'm obviously missing a bit. The hoses are female threaded, and the caliper is female threaded. Should I have gotten a small double ended male (Easy now) connector with the hoses which help connect the two? VR6: please don't move to Suppliers forum! :salute:
  4. When you did the rocker gasket, did you replace the smaller 4-ring gasket in the middle which is for the spark plug holes? It sounds like you might have done, but worth checking. How do you know the fuel pump doesn't prime, are you just listening for it? Sometimes you can't always hear it (and to be honest, a loud pump means it's on it's way out I think?) But yes, the fuel pump should prime AND the ISV should start vibrating at idle. Sounds like you have probably knocked some sensors / wiring when you were doing the service, I'd advise you get back under the bonnet and double-check everything you touched. Then triple-check it!
  5. Oh, that's the part number for the rubber seal, so don't use that. Have a look here Depends whether it's cracked or just lifting away. Got any pics?
  6. Charging an underpowered car would more than likely increase it's economy. Look at Jay Leno's tank! Supercharging it tripled the economy. and where are these pictures?
  7. It's just hit £1.20 a litre in Oxford which was my cut off point for not using the car
  8. Just sold my Jetta, but do still hanker after it! Cool little boxes I reckon :D
  9. Cazza, Honda heads flow like absolute monsters! If you run even the smallest pressure through them you will get bigggg powaaaaa. A way to go o the CR-V huh bro? I mean it's already got teh 4wd....
  10. At those prices, genuine new panels prob easier than cutting up the Jetta! please save the Jetta :pale:
  11. ditto that, 1.8 16v ftwwwwwwwwww! Mate, you work in a sheet metal factory and you're worried about a rotten sill? Sounds like you could patch that up in an afternoon! Yeah, jetta floor is prob the same, but you'd have to cut and weld where the floor meets the sill as you already said. Let us know how you get on!
  12. But hey, it's your car... hopefully you won't be in the market for one of these anytime soon:
  13. KR engines are a lot cheaper than 9a engines too.
  14. Sounds like you've got your work cut out! The Group A Mk2 16v engine only made 180hp n/a and that was very peaky!
  15. do a search :brickwall: cheesewire has listed his complete front suspension geometry on a thread in here.
  16. Cazza would be a really good person to have around the day after an emergency wouldn't he? tbh, the ARZ ones are _really_ dark as the black plastic obviously doesn't provide any internal reflection for the bulb, which the pikey chromes do. Just sort out the chrome you can see bro and you have the best of both worlds.
  17. With all due respect davidwort, 16v GSF radiators are useless. I had one and the mounting pegs that hold it into the rad support panel didn't line up at all. As this is a massive manufacturing fault, I have to disagree with you, sir, and say that there is plenty wrong with GSF quality in this instance. Other items I have no problems using, but radiators from a factor are a no-no imo.
  18. got any pics? you'll need to buff/dull down the chrome bits for any paint to stick properly I think.
  19. Let that be an example to us all Steve!
  20. Ordered some more front brake hoses for....oh crap, I ordered 16v caliper ones :brickwall:
  21. quality! I have no idea, ask the Bangles? Sorry, Chris Bangle.
  22. Do you wash and wax lycra?
  23. I already said it's a Polyurethane coated Lycra material :salute:
  24. definitely sounds like fuel moving away from the collector when you park nose-up a hill.
