Thanks for the comments, i sprayed the gray primer then realised i needed red primer to get the correct shade but then found it was too dark so gave it a quick coat of flash red then tornado red over that and some clear coat , now its spot on and very shiney!!(will put some pics up later.,) my painter came to see the car on saturday to give me a quote and said hes going away in mid june (when i wanted it painting)so has to be done b4 he goes.,so now have a bit of a rush on to get the engine and wirering done b4 then., will put some progress pics as and when ,,now on with my subframe then clean up the engine and ask a friend to hide the wires for me., wile the car is away for paint i plan to get the wheels re-built ,get the dash A,BandC pillers and centre console done in cream flock(will be re done in leather at some point ) so it can all be reasembled when it comes back.,

not sure what rad to use now my 16v 1 kept it cool but would like the pipes on the other side like in a mk1 golf would a top fill rad from mk1 be ok ??? as same size as 16v but has top fill so no need for an inline cap with overflow.,
-
thanks  i was running a 16v rad with spal fan .,but when it goes back together will be vr rad and inline filler with 2 spal fans.,
-
just a couple of pics nearlly done now !! in etch and filler primer and started the other side and full shot cant wait to finnish this now but had to stop because of the weather :(

one side done., just need to finnish firewall and other side now.,

thanks mate ,, if it doesnt go right this time i will have to scrapp it and use my paint money for another rado and forget the smooth idea, this is how it used to look.,
-
heres just a couple of pics from this weekend,. welded up the remaining holes and started to fill,.
-

will be bare metal until it goes in for paint but is well covered up so wont get damp., guy from the bodyshop is coming round tommorow to have a look and give me some advice of how he wants it prepped so not going to do anything till then.,
-
wow :notworthy: lovin this car,..are you gonna take it to any shows so i can see it in the flesh :D
-
ok so now ive decided not to do any paint just weld up all the holes fill and let the bodyshop do the paint in the bay at the same time as the rest of the car. all holes are now welded up will grind them down tommorow ,and should be in the bodyshop by mid june after ive rebuilt my subframe (painted and poly bushed) and removed the rear quarter windows., :pale:
-
thanks for the advice, your bays looking great, might leave paint until it gets a bit wormer now and sort some other bits out first.,
-
i read it on an other thread that agu s have forge pistons and rods and many poeple agreed so going with that????at the power i want to run its not really that important anyway .. i used u-pol but then the halfords filler primer didnt dry so think thats were my problem was.. ive done a test piece with u-pol etch then u-pol filler and u-pol primer with halfords top coat and lacker and all was good so going to stick with that way as i dont have a big enougth compresor or paint gun to spray 2k stuff.,
-
this is the reacted paint so did this just got this side to strip then re fill
-
thanks cant wait till its all done ,, the engine is an AGU code so has forged pistons and rods already but ive fitted a ko3s turbo with qpeng managment will be good for 240ish bhp.,once all body and interior done i will look into bigger turbos but dont want to go over 300brake ., :D
-
it lifts in little crosses ill stic a pic up b4 i rub it down .,
-
ok so bad news when i started painting the top coat started to react? now everytime i rub down a little it still wrinkles up so going to rub it right down and start again!! better news is seen as im starting again i was thinking of removing the matrix and smoothing a few more holes that arnt been used because of this, im going to keep the fan for cold air and drill holes in the top of the fan housing for recierc air??.also im going to run the brake and clutch lines behind the firewall so can weld up the other two holes in the strut towers as i will run the brake lines through the inner wing completely out of sight.then re paint again using the same brand for everything.. will put some pics up once the bay is ready for paint (again)
-
dash looks great mate .suppose u dont want to do mine now if it it a pain to do?? i wish id just cleaned my bay up now had a few probs with paint so have to rub it all down and start again :brickwall:
