  1. nice twist on the rat-look! congrats on the awards. foot looks painful though, was it dislocated or broken? how did it happen?
  2. at the weekend.... me and chris vr6nos were going to grind my caliper carriers down to fit my wheels properly (ok he was going to do it and i was going to watch). first job, jack the car up. Didnt think i could get the big jack under the car so decided to drive it onto some bricks (kindly supplied by h8rra) for a bit more room. wedged the bricks in front of the wheels, jumped in and made to drive up onto them, edging forwards slowly until i can feel the bricks giving resistance and then ease the gas on to try and get on top of the bricks when CRACK! BANG! shocked looks from both chris and h8rra and me wondering WFT just happened, got out to find both bricks cracked in half, one still under the wheel the half other somewhere near the back of the car having t*atted off the underneith of the sil, and the other half under my backbox! still to check properly for damage... oops! IOU 2 bricks paul ;)
  3. thats really smart, nice alternative to an audi and it looks really good with those wheels!
  4. you're having a right run of bad luck mate! hope it stops here! I got a momo boss that scraped all over the place, put up with it for a couple of weeks then took it off, cleaned the horn contact off of all the fluff and crap that it'd collected and bent it in towards the centre of the steering column (very carefully so it didnt snap and still made contact) its fine now, might be worth a try.
  5. sounds like you were quite lucky really, that could have been nasty! (he says, stating the obvious)
  6. 170k isnt really 'huge' miles for a vr6 if its been well looked after, which if it was a fleet car I would imagine is the case. If the historys up to scratch and it seems sound then I think you found yourself a bargain!
  7. nothing on that scale (for which I'm thankful actually) tinkering in the engine bay a few weeks ago with.... chrisvr6nos, had the drivers window down for some reason or another and the imobiliser tripped itself as its ment to. leaning through the window to the keys in the ignition i somehow managed to catch the 'arm' button on the fob rather than the 'disarm' button...doors lock..window starts to go up! cue a panic from me and hand darting in and out of the car at amazing speed as i try to decide if i should rescue my keys or not via a rapidly closing window which I'm not sure will stop if i get in its way! I dont know what I was worried about, my spare keys were in the house 20ft away!
  8. went from 15's to 17's recently, I've not noticed much tramlining really, although the ride does seem a bit harsher, but nothing too bad.
  9. my mates dad took his vitara in for a service, and on the drive back from the garage great clouds of smoke started coming from the engine bay...they left the oil cap off. one very messy engine, on very very pi$$ed off mates dad and one lightly crippled mechanic.
  10. try GSF mate, i'm sure it'd be cheaper! I bet most of that is labour, although it'd probably take a compitent garage and hour at most to do, it took me and a mate around 3 hours to swap two full exhausts over on our vr6's, i'm a total novice and hes pretty well experinanced. You could also look at a cat bypass to free up a few BHP, although you'll probably need a cat back on for the old MOT.
  11. i've heard the avons get good reviews so it might be worth the £40 depending on what the standard tyres are like. not wanting to distract you since you seem to have made up your mind, but i looked at these a while ago as a cheap(ish) bbs alternative...nice dish too. TSW kyalami's
  12. so long as its a 4 stud 16v or a g60 your should be fine with et35
  13. what else did you have replaced before it went to the garage? did you do the leads and plugs or anything else?
  14. holy pants! thats got to have cost you somewhere around £1500 then!
  15. something called 'ivanhoe', got a big roll of the stuff from a local car audio place for £15, enough to do my doors and chris vr6nos's too. I would have got more but they only had one tube! its alot like the dynamat stuff i've used in the past but slightly thinner, still makes a noticeable difference.
  16. well once the grille and rear lights are done I think i'm going to concentrate on the more mundane things to keep it in good condition. address those few little dents and bits of paint that need touching up and sorting out, replace some of the plastics like the front splitter and the lower plastic grid thing in the bumper, tidying up mainly! not sure modification wise, obivously the standard exhaust needs to get chucked in the bin ASAP but its funding a replacement that might be the chore
  17. there used to be a sort of 'buyers guide' thread stickied in one of the forums but i cant find it... anyway, in answer to one of your questions they use chains, and the general opinion is that at around 100k you'll need to be checking and probably replacing the guides and tensioners which is a fairly major job. if the cars been looked after they can last longer though. at 50k you shouldnt really have any worries. make sure its a genuine storm too, theres some posts about how to identify a genuine one around somewhere...best be is to use the search! good luck!
  18. they're not seized bally they just dont go any lower than they already are! you're cars got to be 100mm down at least!! sound-deaded my doors, changed sidelights (wow) and gave it its weekly bath. also found plenty of other places on the bodywork it'd benefit from some extra deadening...anyone tapped the rear wing under the window recently? sounds like a biscuit tin!
  19. i like! i dont think theres one thing i'd change about the car, perfect as it is.
  20. speak to chris vr6nos (currently going by the name of 'vr6 tractor with nos') he always encoraged me to get NOS on my valver although I never did, but I'm fairly confident that if he suggested it, it'd be fine.
  21. Do you mean the grip handle? or the flat plastic cover thing? either way... grip can be tricky, had this problem a few weeks back, basically if you look that the underneirth of the handle right at the bottom theres a little 'nipple'. you might have to pull the leather cover out of the way to see it properly. If you push that nipple in with the end of a screwdriver and pull on the grip it sould come out. Its fiddly to get the screwdriver in the right place, but when you do the grip slides off easily, so if you're having to pull and pull its probably not in the right place! once thats off you can slide the flat plastic guard off the shaft of the handbrake and you're good to go!
  22. spellcasting - C O R R A D O ;)
  23. Mille Miglia have stopped doing the replicas from what I hear, when I was trying to find somewhere local to source a set I was told by one company they beleived Mille Miglia was on lits last legs as they're producing very little stock, and have cut their range right back. how true that is i dont know, but the guy spoke to MM for me and was told they werent doing any porsche replicas anymore.
