  1. Steady on there! I was going off the advice that the guy who I bought them off told me. He said try to keep the harnesses as horizontal as possible and to mount them to the original mounting points if I wasn't fitting a cage as they would be strong enough. I think his advice was sound as he specializes in converting road cars to track/rally cars. I appriciate the thought though, thanks.
  2. maybe a couple of kilo's but looking at your instruction thread it seems a little too complicated for me! Mine hasn't got any play anyway. Thanks for the idea though.
  3. Not sure of finer details of kerb weight etc.. but the wiki and the brochure says 1100kg .
  4. Finally got round to having it weighed, found a local factory with a weighbridge accurate to within 10kg. I just asked nicely and they said yeah, no probs. The actual weight then is 1050kg +/- 5kg , with a 1/4 tank of fuel, so not quite in line with the VW handbook weight but like I said before still 100kg lighter than before and significantly lighter than a VR. Now to get an up to date rolling road read out after a few more engine tweeks :norty:
  5. mint stance and wheels dude! mine's about that low. 8)
  6. Thanks to shaung60 again for a smooth transaction. :salute: (drivers foglight)
  7. Thats brilliant, makes a change from cgi. Deffo a Corrado.
  8. Good to see James using roads local to me in his VXR test, Snake Pass, Winnats Pass, Mam Nick and Rushup Edge. All roads I drive and ride along
  9. Brushed lots of snow off my C' and fitted my new Sparco 300 steering wheel.
  10. Done it! Had to brush about 10cm of snow off the C' first though and i thought I had better fire it up as I have not touched it since the snow started 3 weeks ago. Battery struggled but it did fire first time :D . The suede feels good and not as cold to hold in the winter, Can't wait 'til the snow goes so I can give it a drive. A bit blurry, took it with my camera phone. also took a pic of the tunelnessness for Kempy.
  11. now you ask i think it is about 400g! at least it is not heavier
  12. My new steering wheel  could'nt resist with christmas money burning a hole in my pocket (how old am I? )A nice finishing touch to my motorsport/fastroad theme to my interior. A Sparco suede 300. A change from my current Momo Jet 320mm. A pic to compare to the Sparco 300mm to 360mm original. Am just about to go out and fit it now (in the snow :censored: ) and post up more pics when its in.
  13. dark coloured, maybe blue corrado G440 *** comming up Chapel-en-le-Frith by-pass. I was in my wifes peugot 206.
  14. I have already got a lightened flywheel but thanks for the advice anyway. It's not bling i am after , i just want to squeeze a bit more from the old lump.
  15. also are these any good? http://www.bildon.com/catalog/DetailsLi ... ubNav=none
  16. I am aware that gains can be made by using alloy lightweight pulleys, does anybody make them to fit the 9a engine? I have seen this on ebay ; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/68MM-RACE-RALLY-L ... 19b8787940 will it fit? Any help much appreciated.
  17. Yeah i am keen to know the exact weight too, whatever the outcome it is still 100kg lighter than it was before  will post up when I know.
  18. there is something about a shiny undercarrige that does it for me too :norty:
  19. Done it!! 101.3kg lighter. The final 20kg were lost as follows; Removal of side bump strips from doors, (done ages ago but just remembered) - 1kg Removal of stereo + door/dash speakers - 2.8kg Removal of Abs ecu - 0.6kg Removal of under dash trays - 2.2kg Removal of various under bonnet covers, clips + trims - 1.5kg Removal of handbrake tunnel + rubber sound deadening underneath it - 1.6kg Fitment of carbon bonnet - 11kg Total weight loss 101.3kg. I have actually made a false floor for the boot from some thin hardboard covered in black acoustic carpet. Also I used some bits of carpet to cover where the handbrake tunnel was and cover the uglyness of the underdash wires/electrical gubbins so at least it still looks respectable. These will probably weigh in at a couple of kg's so maybe not quite a hundred kilos. I will post up some more pics hopefully over the weekend of the finished interior and carbon bonnet which incidentally was qute easy to fit and line up albeit a two man job. Thanks to my father in law for helping me fit it, good man
  20. not yet , i will try to get some pics up soon.
  21. Thanks, I have now removed the entire handbrake tunnel (another 1.1kg) and replaced it with a piece of black carpet. Looks very motorsport, just deciding whether or not to get a suede sparco wheel or not and maybe get one or two bits flocked.
  22. Cheers mate, got the 4 branch from the 'bay, about £80 or so 2nd hand. The heatwrap was about £10 from a guy who had bought too much so i bought the excess, just enough though!
  23. Finally got my new seats in now after buying one 2nd hand from ebay then getting impatient waiting for another one to come up so just buying a new one!! anyway thought i would post up some pics with my stripped out interior, not totally down to the metal race car but retaining some comfort and looks. Picked upsome cheap harnesses from the 'bay which finish it off nicely. A few more tidying up jobs before it's perfect but I am well pleased with the new look 8) . By the way i am now on 90kg weight loss and with my carbon bonnet to fit next week it should take it over 100kg. will post up piccies and more stats then. lovin' the fact the recaro writing is reflecting in the rear view mirror, just by chance 8)
  24. don't have either of them, I have removed them and taped up the wires. It has only just started blowing and i removed the heated jets and mirrrors over 12 months ago.
