  1. Yes 'tis the colour, are you the guy with the Tarox brakes?
  2. Cheers everyone, here are some more shots of my caliper/rear beam winter rennovation project. These went on just prior to the new wheels. The beam was shot blasted and zinc primed, then powdercoated. I then fitted some poly bushes. I wire brushed the hubs and brakes then painted them up with caliper paint. I also had EBC greenstuff pads fitted at the same time. So now all the underneath is clean and shiny  Sorry about the grainy images, took them with my phone.
  3. Cheers. No they are fine, the rear arches are rolled .
  4. Got my wheels re-sized now so the rears are 8.5j with 205/40/16 and look perfect. It was interesting to do as i stripped down the old 7's , cleaned them up then re-assembled them using standard black silicion sealant. I bought some second hand compomotive 5" barrels from wheel whores and they fitted perfectly. It was a nice sense of acheivement when i picked them up from the tyre fitters and they said that they were not leaking  Here are some piccies from Tatton Park yesterday, gleaming in the sun. Cheers to my mate Sean for taking the shots.
  5. Nice to meet you at tatton yesterday, good to have a 2ltr 16v addict to swap advice/storys with. Liking your attention to detail with all the chrome engine bay bits, just up my street. I will keep an eye on this thread for more goodies. 8)
  6. Did you find that improved the brake pedal? I've been considering removing the ABS from mine because in 6 years, I've called upon it twice and secondly, the VR6 pedal is truly dreadful and I'm hoping binning off the ABS would sort that!! Not really noticed a difference in pedal feel. To be honest i removed it 'cause it never worked and i kept putting new sensors on to no avail. Plus I fitted wheel bolts that were too long and bent the abs ring, doh! Also its a bit of an under bonnet decluttering excercise.
  7. Cheers, any idea what make they are? So i can check the net.
  8. does anybody make/sell longer locking wheel bolts? for use with wheel spacers etc...
  9. Wahay! weight saving is my speciality, at least where bikes are concerned. Hence my username. Right ,things i have done (not just for weight saving but it happed to be a positive side effect) are; removed rear wiper and motor removed abs pump only half fill washer bottle remove spare wheel, jack and sponge wedges in boot lightened flywheel remove rear floor mats (backseat passengers, you must be joking!) remove rear tow eye cut rear bump stops down 1cm (ok joking now) Things that would make biggest difference , money no object; carbon bonnet carbon boot hatch + perspex window fixed carbon bucket seats carbon steering wheel throttle bodies (think that would be lighter?)
  10. Cheers, i have actually got and fitted some wider barrels (inner dishes?) and that has made them 8.5j with a et of 20. I did another trial fitting and they sit bang on, very similar to my current set up of 9j et15. They should be going on properly next week, will post up some pics then
  11. I think they were 11.2:1 . I am running a standard ECU with no problems. I think 12.3:1 would be too high without altering the injection system but am not 100% sure. Good luck with the build.
  12. Keep seeing a green VR6 at Bridgemont roundabout at the bottom of the Chapel-en-le-Frith by-pass , reg ending BVT.
  13. are you sure :confused4: 'cos its in the garage at the mo having rear bushes and brakes done. was it today? has it been nicked?.....aarrghhh!!!! im sure it was yours [m22 plate] it was parked near a bridge that goes over the a6 duel carriageway   Yeah that was mine, parked up near the garage where it was being fixed in Whitehough.

  15. Nice C' dude. lovin' your enthusiasm
  16. it came from the old ebay 2nd hand, you could try Ashley or Awesome Gti, I think they both do them.
  17. yeah, they just don't quite look as meaty as my 9j keskins from the back, although from an angle they look bob on.
  18. Yeah they are the ones, just got them off a guy called Raj from Wheel Whores. First step is to take the old tyres off, sell them and then order up some wider dishes.
  19. They are Image HT, i think they look mighty fine too 8)
  20. Just done trial fitting of my newly aquired image splits, yum yum! offsets look bang on to me but i need to fit bigger tyres, they are far too low pro and stretched for my liking (165/40/16). They are 7j all round with staggered offsets and dishes, i am planning to make the rears 8.5j with 195/45/16 and fit 185/50/16 to the front. This seems a good combi to me, views anyone?
  21. 'tis the handbrake cable i think. sweet car by the way 8)
  22. cheers matey, the whole lot came out for a rebuild last year so it got detailed + cleaned at the same time. check my thread on members gallery. They are KW racing leads from good ol' ebay, cost about £50 and work fine. good luck with the clean up.
  23. I have a samco set fitted to my 9a, it is listed as fitting a 16v mk2 golf. as yet i have not got any hoses to fit the heater matix connections, that's on the long list of things to do.
  24. Picked up a new number plate surround at the all types show at Bodelwydenn Castle , North Wales. I have never seen anyone on here with one before, thought it was pretty cool and unique, waddaya think?
  25. Cheers to purple tom for the purchase of my o.e wheels. Came to collected them and paid cash, top man.
