  2. Sorry it went a while back i did a deal with the guy who ripped me off on the first enigne i bought.
  3. ok so another problem i have is how to make the corrado in dash low oil pressure warning light work??? has any one got any advice for this?
  4. haha the new engine is in and we have checked the compression which is sweeeeet!! result looks like things may well be on the up now. myself and my 2 crazy accomplesses have booked this thursday off work to try and get more done. If any one knows about how you get the in dash temp guage working please let mew know asap. cheers Ollie :D
  5. hiya, long time no speak. I was just wondering if you have managed to get your in dash water temp guage working and if so how accuratley and also how you have achieved this. thanks ! ollie
  6. just a quick update. we put the project on hold for a few months while my m8 gutted and rebuilt a house, and the fact it has been cold. put the engine back together on thursday to find that now the head gasket is fixxed the compression is still poo. Gutted, i was sold a right duffer by a member of this forum, cheers rustynuts or what ever your name is...not So ive scap'd it. the engine. and bought another engine, at even more expense. So only time will tell to see if we ever manage to actually finish this.....................
  7. they went out of there way to get my bits to me next day, and price was cheaper for the strech bolts than my local steallers, and gave me some useful guidance about the problem with my 20 v t engine.
  8. i got the engine from some one on here, i doubt ill have any come back. :bad-words: heads off, gasket was slightly mullered but nothing looks too bad. my good friend marcus has been cleaning it all up for me and from the pics ive seen it looks like he is doing a good job. i just got a head gasket etc from jabba sport, the guys there rock. very helpful.
  9. Cheers mate, i hope so. hopefully we will get the head off this weekend. will update the thread when we know :gag:
  10. ahhhhhhhhh, so i get a phone call late last night from my buddie marcus who in all honesty has and is doing the vast majority of work on the rado... "do you want the good news or the bad news" er... any way it turns out that the corrado 20vt is opperational and had been for a week or so - my mates were trying to get it all done as a suprise for me with out me knowing!! but there is a significant problem, it would appear that in the best secenario the donor engines head gasket has gone, or in the worst case maybee some thing else a lot more sinister( oil and water mixxing with very low compression on one cylinder) what an absolute pisser this has put a major spanner in the works, im proper gutted...like properly loosing the will to carry on, its cost me a load so far...
  11. Hi, i have a 2.016v m reg corrado ---- which me and maseward have almost finished doing a 20vt conversion. we are usiung the stock rad, however the fan is too deep so ive got a slimline fan to replace it. The issue we have is that the original fan switch and fan have 3 wires and my new fan only has 2. can any one help me with the best way to sort this out????? many thanks i think after this it may be ready for action.......
  12. ive noticed that the fan is too deep and have got a slimline one. The o.e one seems to have 3 wires as does the o.e fan switch - that im assuming is the thingy ma bob that screws into the rad with 3 connections. Does any one understand this need for 3 wires and how i can make it a 2 wire only setup to suit the new fan cheers ollie
  13. aha, hello mate lol, cheers for the work, glad your back catch up soon
  14. that rocks hard,im hoping eventually to do the same.
  15. To be honest i rarely use it now after having issues with it damaging the paint underneath. Cheers for the kind comment!
  16. hold up ive just spoke to one of my technical helpers in the project and he said that you are right about the tacho wire and indeed im wrong so please accept my appolies on that mate.
  17. Hey, cheers for the information. We are just following the wiring instructions from qpeng, it says that the white/purple is the tacho so we checked resistance from the white purple to the plug that connects to the instrument pannel and one of the connections is the white/purple. have you done the fuel relay yet, we have got a red/yellow for that and have checked it opperates a relay but havent double checked its the right one, again we put faith in the instructions that qpeng sent with the kit.
  18. ive spoke to ben at q-peng and he reckons that you do not need any sort of tacho convertor / driver for the corrado??? can any one confirm this??
  19. Do you mean, run a vent to atmosphere dump valve, or whether you'll run one at all? If the latter, you need to run one to avoid compressor stall, but you can run a recirculating one to minimise the noise. That said, unless you run the car with an airbox that has good attenuation, you'll hear a re-circulating dump valve (even the cheapo standard VW item) pretty clearly. You'll be hard pressed to hide the fact the car is turbo-charged, as you'll get pretty clear noises from the exhaust, and when the turbo is flowing hard, you'll hear it pulling the air in through the filter (unless you run a standard VW mk4 airbox, or similar). As an aside, what radiator are you going to be running? If you plan to go on track, or simply give the car any kind of sustained grief, put at least a Corrado VR6 radiator in, if you haven't already done so. I was hoping not to run one at all, most old school turbo cars ive owned havent had one as standard and to be honest after fitting one ive noticed no improvement, ive fitted re-circ and atmospheric types to my renault 5 gt turbo running 25+psi but prefer it with out, im not into the tssssssssssssh noise every one seems to like. might try and plumb in the standard bosch unit, if necessary.
  20. that feeling is nasty isnt it.......im sure together we will crack to 9a - 20 v t wiring niggles
  21. unfortunatley it looks like my agu setup is different to yours with regards to that little pipe. Havent got round to the alternator yet, do you know what that wire does???? cheers for the info on the wire for the temp guage, ill get on the case and find it, does it go into the wiring loom where all the sensors go to the ecu - but instead go towards the drivers side bulkhead??? Have you sorted a rev gauge signal convertor yet??? my project is gunna be on the back burner for around 2 weeks now as my friend who's garage we are using is away with work, im going to use this time to try and stockpile any remaining bits that we need. Does any one know what potentiometer is required for the dash temp guage to get it to work accuratley?
  22. hey, no we ripped everything out of the raddo, as the qpeng should run on its own. If you trace the wires back a lot of them go into the dash area, im asuming some must be for the diagnostic port by the gear box, and although we havent located it yet the temp guage wiring. Have you identified the temp guage wiring colours to the dash??? Have you got any clue about which standard corrado fuel pipe is flow or return (on original 9a setup)?? Are you going to run a dump valve at all? i was hoping not to run one at all, as imo they make it blatent the car has a turbo lump, something im hoping to keep low key.
