Hi mate I'm after a set 288 fronts and standard rears. Ali.
-
Hi there, does anyone know which hose kit I need for 288 front calipers and standard rears? I'd like some stainless braided hoses - hell or goodridge Etc. Is it simply a late golf vr6 kit? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Ali.

Hi Dox, thanks for the reply. The camshaft position sensor fault has disappeared from vag-com since replacing it. Do you think what I have could still be related to that? I will try as you say a use spray gun to make a mist and look for sparks. No sparks = fault with that particular plug/lead? I shall also check the resistances of each lead, I'm guessing the leads' resistance should be next to 0? Anything around or greater than 0.5 ohms would indicate something wrong I'm guessing. I do have the tool for removing leads and have always use it so I would hope that wouldn't be the cause of any faults with a lead if there is one. Hi floppyman, thank you for you're response. I haven't put any fuel out of the ordinary into the car. I will try what you recommend and crack the engine to check that fuel is being injected. There is a little bit of black smoke on a cold start up. Apparantly when accelerating hard there has been a bit of black smoke from the exhaust. My mrs noticed this once a while ago whilst following in her car. This was before the running issue and I've not got someone to check since the running issue started again. RW1, thanks for the link to the other thread, I will try the throttle checks aswell. My VR6 is in standard form, with the exception of a remap which a previous owner had done. I have changed the fuel filter quite recently, probably around 5 to 10 thousand miles ago when I had to replace a leaking fuel pipe. If fuel pressure could be the cause, is there a chance that it might be a dodgy pressure regulator? Thanks again to all that replied.

Hi all, My VR6 isn't running right and hasn't been for a while now. The issue started about two months ago now. It feels like there is a cylinder missing; symptoms are less power across the entire rev range, the car vibrating more than usual at idle, lumpy running and juddering at low engine speeds. The juddering, for example, occurs when in 5th whilst applying any amount of throttle at any speed under 40mph. Before there would be no trouble applying the throttle at speeds as low as 30mph (as any VR6 owner will be likely to confirm). As soon as this behaviour began, I plugged the car into Vag-com. The camshaft position sensor was reported as faulty. I replaced the camshaft position sensor and cleared the fault. The behaviour did not change and the engine still ran lumpy. Since then that fault has not been reported again on Vag-com. As the engine was still running lumpy and no faults were present when using Vag-com my thoughts turned to coilpack, spark plugs and ignition leads. I have replaced the coilpack with a second hand unit to no avail, as well as a new set spark plugs. I have also borrowed a single ignition lead from a friend with a Golf VR6. Using the single lead I swapped out each ignition lead in turn, starting the engine after each lead was swapped. Swapping each lead made no difference either. After trying the above I tried replacing the MAF for a second hand unit but still no joy. Someone has recommended replacing all 6 leads at once, rather than swapping them out 1 by 1. Would anybody suggest trying this? Is there anything else anyone can think of that might be causing this fault? Many thanks in advance for any response. Ali.

Did you ever resolve this? I have a problem on my VR with very similar symptoms. Ali.

Swapped the sensor only to find it was a wiring issue so fault cleared now.

Dude VR6 is sending me one so should be OK for one now. However if I have any trouble I will give you a shout. Thanks.

I can confirm that this is the inlet manifold temperature sensor. Has anyone got one? Anyone breaking a Rado VR6?
-
Hi, I'm after the sensor as per title. I've taken some pics of what I think is the part. If anyone could confirm, it would be appreciated. If anyone has this part, even better! The part I think is the sensor screws into the threaded hole in the centre of the following pic: A couple of shots of the sensor: ---------- Post added at 05:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:15 PM ---------- p.s. it's for a '94 VR6 Corrado

I'll take please mimjed. Let me know what you need to cover postage.

Anyone got the above MAF part for sale?

Great stuff thanks for the advice guys. I will have a look at the tapes you've recommended.

Hi all, Probably going to seem like a bit of an odd one this but I'm odd so I'll ask anyway. I'm doin some wiring in the engine bay and I'm finding that the tape/wrap around the looms has seen better days. It crumbles away when simply touching it. I'm planning to take all the old crap stuff off the looms I'm working on and re-tape them with some fresh tape. I intend to use just plain old electrical tape. I just wanted to check if this would be ok, or if there could be some thermal issues (I'm guessing not as most looms don't come into direct contact with anything that gets very hot. Would I be ok to just use electrical tape or is there anything else someone can recommend if not. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Tim forgot to post in here to say thanks for the coilpack. Arrived promptly and in good working order and good communication. Recommend seller to anyone considering buying from Tim. Ali. -
Hi Tim, Sounds good to me. Do you want to pm details for payment/paypal? ---------- Post added at 10:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:57 PM ---------- PS. I could prob do with replacing 1, maybe 2 other connectors that are a part of that loom. I'll post up description + pics at some point tomorrow.

Hi, not sure if title is correct name for the part but taken a few pics to clarify. I need both the male and female parts that connects the ecu to the engine. It's the connector in the centre of the following pic: Close up of male and female parts: As you can see some water has got in and caused some corrosion of the pins/plugs. Female sockets: Male pins: Ideally someone will cut both parts of the connector of their looms, leaving me about 100mm ish of wire so I can cut my loom and solder in non-corroded connector. If someone has one half or both, I will take whatever I can get. If no-one is willing to do so, I am happy to buy both looms so I can cut looms or fit entire looms myself. The corrosion is causing a few faults and is beyond repair as a few of the pins are very weak and wobbly.

Great stuff, thanks very much for the info RW1. Will report back in a few days with how I got on.
