Supercar experience.. and bumping into forum members!
EskimoFriend replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
This thread has made me very excited, I'm off to drive a Gallardo next Thursday at Prestwold Hall, Leics. I've been watching videos of other people doing it, and I've now got a slight mixture of nerves and excitement! -
Go out and drive, that's the whole reason for buying it in the first place! East Mids meet on sunday :D
-
I've got an early grey interior and it has a black gaitor. Hope that helps!

EF's Valver - its taken 9 months, but we're getting there...
EskimoFriend replied to EskimoFriend's topic in Members Gallery
Nope no lowering for me! It indeed has no sunroof, when I bought it I automatically asked "does the sunroof work ok?" only for the woman selling it to turn round and say "err, it doesn't have one" -
I can't believe how much lovelier my C now looks and sounds after a bit of care, attention and cash thrown at it :D :D Bit of history - bough in June last year after much searching as I knew I only wanted black. It was tired when I bought it, but it was cheap and I always said that as long it was running I was up for a bit of a project. The idea behind my C is that I want it orginal but just with a couple of very slight modifications, namely a stainless exhaust and BK Racing alloys - so its no to bigger wheels, lowering, crystal lights and all that jazz! So, work undertaken so far: Valve stem seal replacement (that quickly got rid of the blue smoke issues) New rotor arm/dizzy cap New HT leads New oil filter Two new wheel bearings Powerflow stainless exhaust ...and a lovely new set of alloys :) So not a lot really to get it looking lovely. There's a few rust patches and car park dings, thats this summers job!! So firstly how it looked when I bought it: And this is it as of today, freshly washed! 8)

I'm sorry to hear that, Mr EF had his rear VW badge stolen from his Mk2 in Sainsbury's car park - he was livid! I've come to the decision that some people are just scum. Mr EF caught a builder nicking our watering can from the front of the house just after we'd been washing the car - WHO DOES THAT?! I hope you find the theiving scrotes.

Well I ummed and ahhed for a few days, but I decided to contact MIJ earlier this week to disucss the fact that the exhaust wasnt as grunty as I wanted it. Went back to today and I've now come away with a PERFECT sounding exhaust - they were really helpful and even added another section of stainless on for no extra cost. So, they come recommended in my book! Wheels next!
-
Nope, but thats not the first time that I've a) was told I look Swedish and b) told that I look EXACTLY like someone
-
Well heres goes nothing! As I often get mistaken for a guy on this forum, hopefully this should go to prove I am female :) Although I am now brunette and thinking to go back to blonde.
-
Pictures of the new exhaust....mmm...shiny :D
-
Well, I've got back and I've got to say that the fit and finish is excellent...buuut...its not as "grunty" as I quite hoped. Need to decide whether I'm happy to live with it or whether I need to take it back for something a bit louder. MIJ itself is OK, not quite the personalised service they had told me about on the phone, and it took 3 hours as apposed to the quoted 2.
-
I'm actually sat in MIJ right now having a new back box fitte to my 1.8 16v - I'll let you know how it is when they've finished it! Service has been pretty good so far. Got to pick exactly the tail pipe and type of sound I was looking for. Will take pictures when I get the car home.

Show us your Daily Driver....Corrado or other
EskimoFriend replied to til2143's topic in General Car Chat
9 times out of ten I'll be driving the Corrado (which is mine), but every so often I just have to drive the Golf (my b/f's) as it has THE nicest sounding exhaust. We like to think of them as a bit of "his and hers" 8) Mine's better....of course... -
I've got 1 1.8 16v and I definitely notice that my fuel guage needle is erratic, and I never trust the MFA!! I generally go on the rule that if it costs my £25 or less to do the 150 miles I do to work and back a week, then all is okay. But I really do notice the difference if I let the rev counter sit on the exciting side of 4000 it does tend to drink it a lot faster.

So you think you know yours cars eh?? (just for fun)
EskimoFriend replied to C488ADO's topic in General Car Chat
Torquay, work in Newton Abbot ... are you local?? name rings a bell.....[/quote:1ixiurrr] Off topic...but...you don't happen to drive a black rado do you? When I was last at my parents house in NA, I saw a black rado near Asda. -
I'm after some wheel advice (its wheely important!)
EskimoFriend replied to EskimoFriend's topic in Suppliers Forum
Thanks for the advice chaps, that thread really does quite illustrate a point! I've had a bit of a change of heart and I'll be sticking to 15's, I had a good look at the car today and I'm actually quite happy with 15's. Booked in for a new exhaust fitting on Saturday too, my C's going to think its Christmas!! Cannot to wait to see how it looks and sounds with new wheels and exhaust - I've spent quite a bit of time getting the engine tidy and running right (fingers crossed!) it feels good to be spending dosh on making it cosmetically lovely :D Will post piccies next week in the gallery when its been done 8) -
I'm after some wheel advice (its wheely important!)
EskimoFriend replied to EskimoFriend's topic in Suppliers Forum
Pardon me being an ignoramous - am I going to have the same issues if I went with 16"? I'm new to all this change wheel size business, if I'm spending dosh on a new set of wheels I want to get it right! -
Hi all, I'm after some new shoes for my beloved C, and I was wondering if anyone can offer some advice. I'm pretty certain I want 17", what tyre size would be best (my car is at standard ride height)? Also, I reallllly want black alloys as when my black paintwork gets resprayed in the summer, I'm hoping my 'rado will start to look mean - grrr! :norty: So, any recommendations on any places that do a decent deal on a wheel/tyre package? Thanks :D

Some chap in the car park of KFC in Derby gave the car a good looking over this afternoon as I was leaving, he even looked back over his shoulder! Yay! :D Oh, and a policeman gave me a thumbs up the other week - now theres a stamp of approval!

Loving the way my Corrado looks more and more and more
EskimoFriend replied to Leonard's topic in General Car Chat
I love the fact that ever time my parents come to visit, my dad always says "that is a really good looking car you have". This is from a a man that has owned a lot of very nice cars in the past - Porsches, TVR's to name a few! I think thats a seal of approval if ever there was one :D -

EskimoFriend replied to C. Will Corrado G60 2's topic in Members Gallery
How much do I want that car?!! That has to be on my top 5 cars to own. Can't see it happen this happening this side of 30  -
My boyfriend has bought be a Lambo experience for Christmas :D Really looking forward to giving it some beans at Prestwold Hall - problem is I think I might come away wanting one...
-
Is your Corrado the most unreliable car you've ever owned?
EskimoFriend replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
I once owned a Fiat Tipo. Enough said. :pukeright: -
The little s**ts also just staunter across the road and you almost have to come to a stop. That part of Derby is such a scum hole (apologies if anyone lives there), but I have to drive through there to get from the A6 to work.
