Really really nice car! I love the Recaro's, really sets the interior off nicely and its a shame they weren't standard on Corrado's (would certainly have brought the second-hand price of the seats down!). Keep up the good work :)

Awesome idea. I ordered a full set for my winter Mk4 about a month ago, the price has already gone up £10 per tyre since then! If anyone is interested, I have a set of part-worn's that I had fitted to my Corrado last winter. They're 185/55R15 Vredestein Snowtrac3's. The size is what VW recommend for the Corrado and they'll go straight onto Speedlines/Estorils/G60 steels/any other 15" wheel. Awesome tyres and they got me through conditions like this with no trouble: They really are amazing and if anyone is interested then feel free to get in touch. They're £80 each on mytyres.com atm, I'm looking for £200 for the set of 4, 2 with 11mm tread, 2 with 9mm tread, so loads of life left. Only selling because they're too small for the mk4. Winter tyres = a must have! :D

Thanks for the replies :) Regarding the 'Ring, it certainly is an amazing place. I've been 6 times now and have done a little over 50 laps. I am by no means 'experienced', but I know the layout of the track and am pretty confident with the turn-in points and general characteristics of each corner. I'm also very aware of the changes in track temperature as the lap goes on (due to some of it being very much in the forested areas etc), but I'm nowhere near experienced enough to know where the grip changes through the corners etc so I tend to go out and just enjoy the TF for what it is - a chance to drive an awesome race track without worrying about speed limits. I think its very easy to get carried away, especially when you're inexperienced, and thats when trouble can happen. It is also very busy! My first few trips were in a Mini with a full roll cage and it would have been silly to have not worn a helmet in that car, I guess the habit has stuck with me. Jim - the car behaved impeccably, apart from the slightly noisy wheel bearing. I didn't push it amazingly hard on the track, I think my quickest lap was 10.20 but I had the chance to enjoy some of the lovely roads around the track itself. The section between the Nordschleife entrance and Adenau is very good with a couple of tight hairpins; and while having a play with a VX220T (he was behind otherwise I wouldn't have stood a chance!) I found it to be very nicely balanced without wanting to wash wide at all, even in the tight corners under power. David - its just -25mm on Eibach springs with standard shocks and has the same 16x7.5 ET35 BBS RC's that I had on it when you saw it at Stanford Hall. It does sit quite nicely and I'm pleased with the picture, I think I might purchase it! Matt & Adam - Thanks - it can be a little intimidating but also amazingly good fun if you approach it with the right attitude. I love going and will keep going until either I can't afford it anymore or it gets closed for political reasons. Visit www.savethering.org for more info!!

Not long back from a 5-day trip to the Nurburgring - absolutely loved it. The Corrado behaved pretty much impeccably apart from a slight drone from a rear wheel bearing which got slightly louder by the time I got home. It hasn't used a drop of oil or coolant and overall I returned exactly 60mpg throughout the 1400 mile journey. That includes 2 hard laps of the Nordschleife :) The cruise control was really useful on the European motorways, just set it at 110km/h and let it get on with it. I even managed a little snooze (kidding!). I would have loved to have done more laps but unfortunately the Touristenfahrten was blighted by track closures throughout the weekend, and on the Sunday morning a British guy was thrown out of the back seat of a Clio when it crashed and he very sadly died which put a damper on the whole day to be honest. Decided to not do any more laps after that. Managed to find a picture of the car on the track, negotiating the Mini-Karussel right near the end, hope you like:

Breaking 1995 Corrado VR6 - 117k, Full Black Leather
Purple Tom replied to Purple Tom's topic in Cars for Breaking
Yeah I've got three of those which I've just spent a little while restoring. Obsolete now from VW as I bought the last pair when I did the TDi conversion (didn't realise it was the last pair!) Will get some pictures for you. -
If its an excellent condition late black cloth interior, with hump and doorcards then I'd be looking at £400 to change really. Thats allowing £600 for my leather and £200 for the cloth interior. Here's some pics: Let me know if you're interested.

4WD PD130 TDi remapped to 180(ish) bhp and 300 lb/ft. Lift it all straight from a mk4 Golf 4motion or 8L Audi A3 TDi Quattro. But I'm weird!
-
I don't know, something like you have my leather, I have Matt's cloth, you pay us both some money. But you are a long way away and interiors are big things but I think they can be couriered on pallets etc. Up to you though, there's bound to be something more local to you.
-
I think that's how TVR did most of their electrical engineering. Just bodge some wires in, stand back, close one eye, turn around, say three hail mary's and hope it works!
-
I've got a full heated black leather interior which I'd actually like to swap for a full black cloth interior (with cash my way obviously!). It will come with seats, doorcards and heated loom, but no carpet as I'll keep that - easy enough to source though. It's in fantastic condition, fully working, the only reason I don't want it is because I actually prefer cloth for a daily driver, I get less precious about it! Maybe the three of us could come to some sort of arrangement?

Maybe some sort of TDi V8 in a Holeshot V8 'Busa-esque sort of way? Twin turbo, 3.8L TDiV8 :)

Hey! Welcome to the forum. Nice looking motor, blackberry definitely has to be my second favourite colour, behind sherry pearl (the colour of my car) anyway! Looks like you've done a lot to it already, hope you can solve the overheating issue without resorting to a HG change. A mate of mine has got a Cerb, it cost him £12k and then immediately about another £4k on some major engine and suspension work. Then he took it to the Nurburgring, did one lap and most of the convenience electrics stopped working, so the windows wouldn't go down, the alarm would work, central locking, interior lights etc etc. We took each of the 10/11 ECU's out of the boot, banged them about a bit and hey presto, all fixed! Bloody TVR's  It sounded great though. If you're thinking of engine conversions you could always join the dark side which consists of me and 3 or 4 other crazy people and put a dirty derv TDi into your Corrado. Noisy, slow(ish), but oh so frugal :D

Hi Stone, Can't help with much apart from the rear ABS sensor. I have one that I removed from my 8V which was literally on for a couple of months before I was forced to replace it when I did the ABS upgrade at the same time as the TDi conversion. I also have one which I removed from a VR6 which I broke, which again looks almost new. One is genuine VAG but the other is Febi, however I can't see the difference between them! Looking for £30 posted for the VAG one, £25 posted for the Febi item. I've also got a steering column in good condition, again removed from the VR6. The ignition barrels can indeed be retumbled and its not too difficult, there's a guide done by Kev (I think) somewhere on how to do it. If you want the column and a sensor then I'll do the pair for £50 posted - let me know if you're interested. Cheers Tom

I've got a twilight violet spoiler and complete functioning mechanism as removed from a 1995 VR6 that I broke earlier this year. Will get some pics up shortly but I'd like £45 posted for the spoiler and mech. ---------- Post added at 07:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:36 PM ---------- Here's some pics:

No problem. The only reason I'm selling them is because I've acquired a mk4 Golf so I'm going to run that through the winter. Already invested in some winters for it because the Vredestein are just that bit too small to get away with.
-
Yeah I've got some 15x6 5x100 VW steelies (Golf mk4, Bora etc) with 4 185/55R15 Vredestein Snowtrac3 winter tyres on (VW recommended winter tyre size for Corrado, mk3 etc) that I ran last winter. 2 have 11mm tread, 2 have 9.5mm tread so loads of life left. Looking to shift them as a bundle tbh for £180 but can split the wheels and tyres if necessary.
-
What size are you after? Steel or alloy?
-
Yep. I've been down to my local scrappers this morning and got 2 mark 3 Golf motors. They both work fine and in actual fact are preferable to the Corrado motor as they don't put any strain on the mechanism when it's as far back as it will go. The Corrado motor takes the steel panel right back into the roof but the mk3/Passat motors stop about 2 inches further forward to allow the blind to still be movable. The Corrado motor will stop when the moonroof reaches the end of its travel, not because it's designed to but because the motor overheats and the thermoswitch cuts in as it can't move the cassette any further. Best to get the motor that's designed for the job with the slightly shorter duration IMO.

G60 subframes are the same as 16v and 8v. Only the VR6 has a different frame, and even then the difference is only in the engine mounts. Laser Mark on this forum has a subframe that he's just blasted and powdercoated which I believe he no longer needs (its the frame from my 8v) so it might be worth getting in touch with him about it.

Kip - bizarrely enough I do have one of those too. It's also from the VR and in perfect condition. I 'lost' it for ages then 'found' it still attached to the door which I'd hidden away in the corner of the garage all wrapped up! Couple of pics of the trim attached: I would however be looking for good money for this as they are so rare and to be honest I'd prefer it to be collected to avoid damaging it in the post. Judith knows where I am so how does £40 collected for the washer jets and trim sound? I appreciate its a little bit of fuel but would rather not run the risk of posting it, even in a strong tube!
-
Kip - I've got two, taken from my VR. I made sure to keep them in good condition because I knew that one day someone would want them :) Tenner posted to you if you want them mate. Incidentally they are the heated ones, not sure if they were all like that?
-
Hey, I've rebuilt the spoiler motors on both of my Corrado's as it seems to be a fairly common problem to have them doing the 'stepped raising and lowering'. As you say, it is as a result of the thermoswitches cutting the motor out as the temperature rises either due to crap in the motor or a slowness of the mech itself. Neither of my motors looked like yours inside though, they were quite a bit cleaner to be honest. If you're interested I have the complete spoiler mech from the VR6 that I broke, tested and working. I'm just outside Ripley on the A610 and you can have it for £25 collected if you want it. Let me know if that's any use.

Late Headlight Switch....New Batch Delivered. Fit All Corrado's.

1 for me too please :) -
Everyone, do you think its worthwhile spending a bit of time on VagCat or Wagenstad and actually getting the part numbers for the bits you'd like to see reproduced? Andy did say that part numbers would be extra helpful and I can't see this being the only VW-based forum that he's on. The requests must be piling up so how about doing a bit of research, getting the part numbers and then posting them up? I only say that because he must already have 20 items to request, and finding the part numbers for them sometimes isn't a 5 minute job, so better to have the P/N than throw a request in for some random items like 'obsolete wiper linkage parts' (not picking on you specifically mort1414, just the first one I saw) Only trying to help a bit :-)

David - I don't know if the TDi does the total fuel shutdown when the throttle is closed...I'm going to guess that it does but I can find out for sure! However what it is is that at 70-75mph the car is doing 2300rpm ish which is right in the middle of the sweet spot of boost so its very easy to squeeze a tiny bit of throttle just to feel that surge of acceleration! Cruise will eliminate that hopefully :) I have found that my work cars (Merc E-Class 3.0 V6's) tend to return better economy on longer journeys when using cruise compared to when not using it, but it depends on the car I guess. The proof will be in the pudding! Tim - thanks :)
