  1. Yeah I'll take them, please PM me payment details. Thanks
  2. I've got a pair, I'm going to the garage later so I'll try to remember to dig them out and get some pictures for you! Tom
  3. I'll take the wing liner washers please! Thanks
  4. That *may* be easier to repair than you think. It looks to me like the driveshaft bolts have come loose, effectively seperating the inner CV joint from the gearbox output flange. I'm not sure how good your mechanical knowledge is but I think if you get the driveshaft off you'll be able to see the problem for definite. You may get away with 6 new driveshaft bolts and nothing else, especially if none of the bolts have sheared inside the output flange. However, even if they have sheared/snapped you may still be able to remove them easily enough. The flange may be damaged from separation as its unlikely to have been clean but you never know, it might have survived intact. If the worse has happened and the flange is damaged or the bolts have sheared/snapped and you aren't able to get them out then all you'll need (at the most) is a new or replacement output flange (which just bolts to the diff), some decent gear oil to top up the gearbox after you've changed the flange, and 6 new bolts. However it does look like the driveshaft bolts weren't correctly torqued up when the driveshaft was fitted, sorry to say that. Either way with a bit of effort you could have it running again for Sunday, good luck :) Tom
  5. Nice job, can't beat an economical Corrado :-)
  6. Price is a little high to be honest. You haven't said if they're heated or not, but I assume not. Also you've said the rear cards aren't great and the fronts need gluing so that detracts from the value - plus you haven't put any pics up of the damage. Just as a reference, I sold a black full interior with heated seats, loom and switch for just over £450 a year ago. The interior was in good condition and everything worked. Without being harsh, i think yours is probably worth in the region of £350 - £400. If you were willing to put a bit of time into gluing the front cards back down the that'd be a good thing I reckon. Hope that helps! Tom
  7. Here's a few pictures of it as it stands now: Next to the TDi: Tried to go a bit arty....don't think it worked: Also, here is the Corrado compared to a modern 'small' hatchback...you forget how small Corrado's are really: Not much has changed - the previous owner spent a small fortune on various maintenance work (some of which unfortunately wasn't needed, but that's garages for you), but other than that it's all good. Not 100% sure what the plans are for it yet, but it's nice to have it back!
  8. Would you be willing to sell the airbox on its own? Don't need the rest of the engine bundle but the airbox would be useful!
  9. A few questions to answer I think: - There is a small amount of rust in the rear panel which is going to be cut out and replaced properly. There are some car park dents on both of the doors which will be repaired and it'll receive a decent detail. It won't be 100% perfect in the paintwork department but it will be very presentable. - Engine wise, I see why you might say a PD would be better. But in actual fact there isn't really any benefit - they're more complicated, expensive to buy, suffer if incorrectly maintained and require lots of electronics to get them to work, including the use of the donor vehicles clocks ideally. Not to mention the inherent difficulty of the engine mounts which require a fair bit of modification to the chassis legs or hefty subframe modifications coupled with turbo changes etc. Admittedly, they're *slightly* more refined, but offer no other benefit. They're even less economical! The VE TDi literally drops straight in, is good for big power (200bhp on standard internals is achievable with relatively good reliability, they will give 170bhp all day long with no bother), allows one to run the standard clocks (in B4 format), standard wiring, etc. I think if I were to provide a VE TDi in 90bhp (non VNT) flavour then the owner can appreciate it as it is to begin with, and then carry out the easy, relatively cheap (sub £1k) mods that give the engine 150bhp/250lbft. That's what I've done with mine and it certainly gives a good appreciation of the bigger output when you only have a small amount to begin with. - Turn around time, I'll be starting the project within the next month or so and would hope to have it done by July ideally. It won't be done in a month like mine was, but done over a slightly longer period of time with less emphasis on the deadline. Thanks for the replies, all taken on board :)
  10. Insurance is pretty similar to something like an Ibiza TDi 90, Golf TDi etc. Most insurance companies tend to quote based on what the engine is, rather than the base vehicle. Significantly cheaper than a VR6 to insure.
  11. Edited the first post. It's all a bit speculative at the moment but what I'm trying to find out is whether its worth building another one!
  12. Hi, This is a bit of market research on my behalf so if its in the wrong section then mods please feel free to move it. Some of you probably know about the Corrado TDi that I built about a year ago, for those who don't then the build thread is in my signature if you're interested. It has become a possibility (and that is all it is at the moment) that I have the chance to build another one. I REALLY enjoyed building the first one, and I learned a lot in the process, so I'd be able to refine and 'hone' things a bit more in the second build. BUT - as no-one has the need for two Corrado TDi's, I'd be building this one to sell. The spec would be roughly as follows: - 1994 car, properly registered as a TDi - Aqua Blue - 1.9 TDi, standard 90bhp, front mount intercooler. - Cloth interior - 288mm front brakes, mk4 rears. - Standard suspension - ABS upgrade as detailed in the build thread (basically upgrade to the more modern TEVES20 ABS system with new lines throughout) - MFA clocks (again as per the build thread of my car) - Possible powdercoated suspension components - Fully worked through, fully MOT'd and taxed and ready to go. - Mileage on the wheel bearings etc would be zero, on the engine/gearbox will be dependent on what the donor car (a Passat B4 TDi) has done. - Price - I'm thinking in the region of £4000 That is it in a nutshell. Would anyone be interested in this? I know it'd be a very 'niche' vehicle, but I think the potential for 60mpg in a Corrado might be attractive, particularly as a daily driver. The other alternative is for me to break the base vehicle, which does seem a shame if I'm honest. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Just to let you know, I'm not a company, just an individual so this is purely an idea at the moment. Thanks in advance. Tom PS - I've not been on the forum for a while so apologies to those who might've PM'd me...I'll reply soon!
  13. The G60/VR6 are fitted with 280x22mm front discs with a Lucas/Girling type single piston sliding caliper, the piston diameter being 54mm. The 8V/16V are fitted with 256x20mm front discs with a Lucas/Girling type single piston sliding caliper, the piston diameter being 54mm. The calipers ARE interchangeable between the two vehicles, however the 8V/16V caliper is 2mm narrower as the 256mm disc is 20mm wide whereas the G60/VR6 is 22mm wide. I wonder if (as you say) historically someone has fitted the narrower caliper to your VR as unless you're aware of the difference then its quite easy to get them confused. I nearly made the same mistake when I upgraded the discs on my 8V a few years ago...here's a link It shouldn't affect braking performance, unless you factor in the thinner pads heating up slightly quicker, but it would be worth investigating as it sounds like that could be the problem. Tom
  14. Hi Anton, If you do struggle to find a set in that size, I have a set of 4 VGC but slightly used (6mm on each) 215/40x16 tyres. Three are 'Event' and one is a 'Nexen' - all budget makes but they have surprisingly good reviews. Not after a lot for them as they're just taking up room in the garage now - £50 would grab them. I know its not the size you're after, but 10mm on the width might not make that much of a difference :) Tom
  15. What a sad end and what a total tw@ in the Saab :-( I'm glad your wife is OK and it looks like there may be some salvagable parts from the car. Looked a good'un too! Just to add - I loved my 8V! 192k and the oil was still golden 5k after an oil change. In a way it still is an 8V, it just now has a turbo and runs on diesel :-)
  16. Hey, yours looks great, any more pictures or information? I haven't done any tuning work yet, unfortunately I've laid it up for the winter and haven't really done anything to it in that time, but once summer comes around I'm going to be doing the necessary work to increase the power. Looking forward to it too, its going to the 'Ring again in September :)
  17. I have one of these fitted to my TDi. It's great, fitting is relatively straightforward (took no more than an hour) and it's worth getting one of Dave's handbrake tunnel repair kits too if you haven't already - can be easily fitted at the same time while you've got the tools out! Feels brilliant and having driven a standard Corrado since I know that I'd much rather have the shortshift fitted. Tom
  18. Looks really good! Do you have any pictures of it from the inside of the tailgate showing how you modified the trim etc?
  19. I've got several pairs - what sort of condition are you after? All of mine are in good, used condition but I can get them blasted/powdercoated then rebuilt with new seals if you're interested. Cheers Tom
  20. Just to confirm....is it a 4Motion Corrado, as in fully converted to the 4WD running gear, or is it a VR6 that's had a 24V conversion done?
  21. Neal - thanks but I'm really after one that doesn't need painting, cheers though! Rodmax - interested, any chance of any pictures please? Particularly the area around the number plate light and the seam at the bottom of the tailgate. I know it sounds fussy but I want a good one! Cheers Tom
  22. Hi, I'm really after a sherry pearl tailgate in mint condition and a late-spec (VR6) bonnet please. Am willing to travel to collect parts within reasonable distance. Thanks! Tom
  23. Looks like a nice example - US spec though? Looks like it has those electric seatbelt things?
