Looks great Kev :) I'm going to have to invest in one of those pin-extracting kits, I'm fed up of messing around with jewellers screwdrivers trying to dismantle OE plugs - total pain in the arse! Keep up the good work!
-
Yes, the offset is the same, but because the 288mm discs are smaller in diameter it means that the inside face of the braking surface actually touches the carrier mounting lug. I imagine that the problem doesn't exist on the 312mm discs because of the larger diameter, but I'd be interested in seeing exactly how close they are. But yes, as you say, the late Mk3 Golf GTi and VR6 288mm discs fit fine and the carriers don't require any spacing at all.
-
Just to let you know, genuine VAG Mk4 288mm discs won't work on a Corrado even if the carriers are spaced out by 6mm, as the inner face of the disc catches the lower carrier mounting lug on the hub. I imagine that with 312mm discs the inner face just misses the lower carrier lug so it isn't a problem. That isn't to say that aftermarket 288mm Mk4 discs won't fit as I've not tried them, but I can categorically say that genuine VAG ones don't fit!

Check that it definitely hasn't got some sort of special hidden immobiliser or even an obvious one that you've forgotten to disarm...
-
Nope, the plastic cover only covers the majority of the ECU and the heater inlet aperture. A mk2 Golf scuttle cover can be made to fit, almost, and a few companies offer aftermarket full width covers, so there are options available to you if you want to go down that route.

MFA 2 - Fuel Economy - What is your reading ?
Purple Tom replied to Wendy's topic in General Car Chat
I do have a price in my head that I'd let it go for, but whether anyone would be willing to pay that price is another matter! Only the best sheep droppings for my car, thank you very much :) -
MFA 2 - Fuel Economy - What is your reading ?
Purple Tom replied to Wendy's topic in General Car Chat
I'm struggling to get mine above 61.1 at the moment, I'm having to take a slightly different route to work which is really affecting the economy.... ;) ---------- Post added at 10:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:50 PM ---------- Have to admit though, when I had a VR I used to get about 32mpg on MFA2 over a tankful, a mixture of driving but mostly country lane stuff on the way to work. -
I can't see the specific P/N for the bolsters, on VagCat its showing it as one base unit complete. As James says, might be worth contacting some interior trimmers to see what they can do.

Absolutely gutted for you! However...the saving grace (as has already been said) is that it happened before the respray! Also, its the rear end which means that the important end is hopefully less damaged from being shunted into the other car and if you have the motivation you could always use your insurance payout to buy another Corrado and your car back and carry out a reshell of the engine etc?
-
I'm definitely interested in this too. I would want to fit the side repeaters but I have no problems in making the holes myself so I'm happy to go with a set of wings without the repeater holes as I'm sure it'll help keep the costs a bit lower! Good work Matt, really excited to see what you can come up with :)

West Midlands Rolling Road Day Feeler...?
Purple Tom replied to Jim's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
I'd really like to come to this, but if I could politely request it'd be before the end of October that'd be amazing as I take my car off the road on October 31st! Great idea Jim :) -
If its the later one that anyone needs then I have one as its also the same on the 2.0 8V. Its in as new condition as I bought it to replace a rusty one and only did a few thousand miles with it. If I recall it cost roughly £70 from TPS! Obviously no longer needed, the TDi pipe is slightly different but I'm loathed to chuck it away as its bound to be useful to someone else :)

Jim's Corrado - ciao to the Fiat! Hello to.. (P64)
Purple Tom replied to Jim's topic in Members Gallery
It really is in total juxtaposition to the VR then - everything it isn't really! I think if you're going to have a daily its nice to have it as different as possible to the 'fun' car, which you've definitely got in the 500. It'll also be reliable, the FIRE engine is bulletproof and the 500 has a pretty good reliability rating with only tiny little niggles. My Mum's just bought an Alfa Mito with the Blue & Me system, and the ex's 500 had it too - good system once you've got it set up! Enjoy it, and get a picture up! :D -

Nice purchase Jim :D My ex-fiancee bought a 1.2 500 Lounge back in 2008 only a month or so after they first came out. It was a great little car, full of character and really good fun to drive. The 1.2 engine only made 60bhp (I think) but it was pretty nippy up to about 30mph and it had the benefit of £35/year road tax :) What spec/engine is yours? -
They'll fit any Corrado as all the rear brakes are the same. Just be sure to use the Corrado carriers and job's a good'un :)

Late Headlight Switch....New Batch Delivered. Fit All Corrado's.
Purple Tom replied to 8vMatt's topic in Forum Group-Buys
Mine arrived today, fitted and working, jobs a good'un. It does however show how poor the illumination is on the rest of the switchgear...time for some new bulbs methinks :) Thanks very much for organising it all Matt, you're a legend! -
The part itself is pretty rare and sought after if I'm honest. Prices vary but anything from £35 - £70 seems to be the going rate depending on how much the buyer wants it unfortunately. It is possible to fit the heater controls out of a B3 Passat, and I think it might also be possible with the non-AC controls from a B4, although I can't 100% say for definite. I'm also looking into whether its possible to fit the controls from a Polo/Ibiza too, as they all essentially do the same job and most of the heater boxes work in pretty much the same way. It just depends on how they fit into the centre console as to how easy the job is. Other than that the best bet really is to keep an eye out for someone breaking a Corrado - when they do come up on eBay they tend to be priced high which is a shame as it just forces the prices of spares like that even higher. HTH - and welcome to the forum :) Tom

Not sure if you like 16" or 17" RC's but here's a couple of my previous VR6 on 16x7.5 RC's. They are rare but keep an eye out and a set will pop up, I've got a set on my TDi too:

No difference in pad shape, caliper and carrier throughout the range from Mk3 - Mk4/Leon/TT/Octy etc. The only difference is in the disc - if you want to fit Mk4 288's or 312's you need a 6mm spacer between the carrier and hub, but if you stick with the mk3 288mm disc then it all bolts on with no problems. As Kev says, the pad is very common and you shouldn't have any difficulty finding some. I also use the mk4 genuine VAG pad and have found it to be great, as well as the mk4 disc (with 6mm spacer) which again hasn't given any trouble.

Breaking 91 .corrado early 16v NOW WITH FREE POSTAGE
Purple Tom replied to rodmax's topic in Cars for Breaking
Hi, What condition is the tailgate in please? Very interested if it is rust free as the one on my car is a little worse for wear. Also, I'm presuming the bonnet is the early type with the ----______---- panel rather than __------__ ? Thanks Tom -
Renshaw project (probably going to sell / swap)
Purple Tom replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Members Gallery
Looks like a brilliant base for a good motor. Have to admit that I first thought it was LC9Z Brilliant Black Metallic from the pictures and even when I stare closely at the pics its hard to see that its DBP - might be my laptop screen though. Either way I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it, good luck :) -
I've got a starter motor - quite heavy so £20 posted should cover it :) Cheers Tom
-
I've got a couple, both in good condition. Will do one of them for £15 posted if you want it. Cheers Tom
