Just driven back from my girlfrends brothers house which is about 3 miles away, after 2 miles the engine refused to rev but the rev counter was bounching all over the place between 4k and wayy past the red line even tho the engine was sat at idle as i had pulled over, its to the point that there is not enough power to pull the car along, it just feels like its going to stall if i try and pull away, 2 mins later it was working perfectly like nothing was wrong at all. It has to be something to do with the ECU really... all the wires look in good condition, im going to borrow a proper multimeter from work tomorrow to check all the wiring getting annoyed now :(
-
Yeah I'm gonna have a good look round all the wires to and from the dizzy and the ecu later I think. I tried to get the ecu out yesterday but didn't want to take every thing out from around it. My Audi friend said the metering head fault goes hand in hand with poor fuel consumption, I've managed just under 150 miles from a full tank, that's pretty poor from a 2 litre and over £60 of petrol :( Thanks guys, it's really starting to annoy me now :(
-
I was talking to a friend last night who is a mechanic for Audi, he thinks my problem will be either the lambda sensor or the metering head as he had roughly the same problem on his RS Turbo. Shame ive run out of money this month already :(
-
Righty... another update... Just put on my fancy red HT leads and i still have the same problem :( is there any chance there could be a dry solder in the ECU somewhere? what are the chances? If i take the ECU out, how likely is it that I distroy it? are they fragile? I spent the last 4 years of my life repairing equiptment at component level so quite a dab hand at soldering lol

yeah it is still running the orginal injection system and as far as im aware the injectors are what came with the car 20 years ago and 190k miles too, probably wayyy past their best lol. i'll deffo take those injectors off you for a tenner, cant be any worse than what ive got! as for the backfiring and hesitation it does it anytime and i would of thought it would of cleared out the system by the time i got to work 10 miles later and it was still popping and hesitating, it has to be the HT leads as thats the only part of the ignition system i havent changed yet lol fingers crossed they are at home waiting for me

OK, so its started doing it again :( more often this time tho. Every morning for the last week, when the car is started from cold the rev needle starts bouncing and the engine starts being very unresposive. normally to get rid of it i just blip the throttle a couple of times and it stops but today... it didnt, all the way to work it was spitting flames and being very slow. Does anybody have any ideas? i got another video of the rev needle dancing again, ill upload it later today and post it here, its pretty freaky!! Thanks guys ---------- Post added at 09:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:06 AM ---------- Here it is.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AifH7f8MtbE

cheers for the comment mate, ive recently picked up a brand new set of g60 caliper carriers so will have 280 fronts but have no idea what i can use to upgrade the rear brakes. Would anybody be able to help me with my paint code? the label in the boot is missing and ive called VW but they dont have my vin number on record any more :( i also posted in the Paint code sticky but havent had a reply on there :( Do i smell or something? lol
-
Can anybody help me please? Ive looked every where on the car for the paint code, the label in the boot is missing, it looks like it was there at somepoint but has been removed before i owened the car. Ive just spoken to a couple of local VW dealers who requested my chassis number. Aparently my car is too old to be on their database :( so im stuck now, i dont want to put a red wing on to replace the rusted wing

Ive got some, they are brand new, never used £200 http://the-corrado.net/classifieds.php?do=viewitem&itemid=633

Hi guys, Yesterday i slightly cocked up while messing around with my interior light and managed to cross 2 wires. I noticed a bit later on that the milage and clock do not stay on when the ignition is turned off and reset every time i turn it off too. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse box and they are all ok, i was looking at wiring diagrams last night and it looks like there might be an in-line fuse somewhere under the dash. Can anybody help please? where would be the best place to start looking for fuses? Thanks guys!

How come the most popular blog has been closed for more comments? Surely this is going to upset the F1 fans even more than they already are. It seems strange as BBC blogs from over a year ago are still open for comment. Is the BBC afraid of whats being said? are people finally getting to the truth about the Sky deal? Becaus ethis blog is now closed, Jake is now getting the brunt of the angry fans which he doesnt deserve, he has been treated just as bad as the public. Can i ask if the BBC are going to cancel 2 episodes of Eastenders a week and show highlights instead? Imagin the anger of the public then, im sure it wouldnt be any way near as big as this. I subscribe to several unrelated forums, on there are threads with over 1000 posts from people all over the world who cant believe the BBC have sold out to Sky. Its discusting and i think its unaceptable that the licence paying public were not informed about the deal before Ben Gallop signed on the dotted line. All i can say is i hope the sponsors of F1 pull out as they dont want to be associated with Murdoch's evil money grabbing empire.

Hey everyone, Ive been lurking around this forum for quite a while now but never got around to starting up my own thread about my Corrado. Its my second rado that i've owned between a couple of mk2 golfs, an 95 audi coupe and a 83 austin mini. The first corrado i owned was a lovely dark blue VR6 with leather mmmmmm, it was awesome and the noise it made was unforgettable but cost a lot more than i was expecting to run so it had to go :( I got this 1 just over 2 years ago now and what fun it has been! This is what she looked like when i got her, for some reason she was sitting really high at the front :/ I got if off my mates, brothers friend so managed to get it for a reasonable price, it was in pretty good condition, just the usual 18 years of stone chips and dings. It had 178k on the clock so was a bit worried about the reliability but the service history was huge and it only had 2 owners before me so i had to get it. For the first 6 months life was good with the rado until christmas eve 2009, i was driving home from work and noticed the temp guage was at about 115 degrees!! I pulled over to let her cool down so i could have a look at what was going on. Opened the expansion tank and the water was oil, no mayo, just oil. This made me very sad as i was poor from buying last min xmas shopping. I really didnt think there was much point replacing the head gasket as the engine had done so many miles so i got looking. After a couple of weeks researching on here and trying to source a new engine, i found a nice ABF lump with about 60k miles on from a mk3 golf gti for £300, it came with half the engine bay but all i was intrested in was the block and head. I managed to talk my unemployed friend to come over and give me a hand swapping the engines over. it was the dead of winter with only my drive way to work on. I do have a garage but the door is only wide enough for the lotus which my dad owned when he built the garage! I'd never done any thing like this before and i had no idea how long it would take but we got going early thursday morning with only a little fan heater to keep us warm. it took 3 days to get the old engine out. every nut and bolt had to be heated to losen them off, it was a right pain in the arse but good fun Somehow on the 4th day we managed to get everything back in and fired up with very few problems other than 1 cylinder was full of petrol for some reason. 2 days later she flew through the MOT too, i was well happy. Time for the next project! The suspension This was a pretty easy job to do tbh. went without a hitch and improved the ride and handling more than i was expecting and i love the look of a lowered rado! the only problem is that 2 of the shocks started knocking soon after :( they nearly failed the MOT and the begining of this year but i should have a fresh set of spax on their way any day now :) I had also been spending my spare time fabricating a touchscreen into the centre console of the dash to display a small PC in the boot. i should really get some up to date pics of this as i havent taken any since i made the dash. More information can be seen in my signature but will get some new pics. Other than those few bits ive been mostly trying to keep it on the road. It got to a point when every month something went wrong so i spent more time fixing it than o did driving it. Ive had many burst water pipes, a head gasket change on the new ABF, problems with it idleing which turned out to be the most simple fix after replacing most of the ignition system. it was the little washer that lives on the idle screw on the throttle body!! I have also recently had a problem that i still havent got to the bottom of. every now and then the rev needle will start bouncing then the engine will refuse to rev. it only last about 5 mins and happens once every coule of months but its still a pain in the arse!! I recently swapped some D90s for a mint set of Azev a's and today i finally managed to get them on the car! im still trying to get used to them but im sure i will soon enough. ive still got a long list of things that i still need to do so i will do my best to keep this thread updated as much as i can. im forever taking hundreds of pics too so there will be lots to look at lol Thanks for all the information this forum has supplied over the years Pete

ive dropped my wheels off to Wicked Wheels in slyfield, guildford for a refurb. from what i saw of some of the examples of wheels they have refurbed there they do a good job. They are acid dipping mine, powder coat, spray and laquer for 55 a wheel. they say a 2 day turn around normally but 1 of my wheels was 'nearly square' as Kevin said so it had to be sent to a specialist to be reshaped. Id definatly go there again and i havent got my wheels back yet!

believe it or not i havent had this problem since i posted this back in april, but jus the other day it did it again! still have no idea what it is and the garage have said they cant do anything about it as its sooo intermitant. there is only 1 switch on my tb and that was recently re-wired. ive got a funny feeling it might be my ignition switch, as the radio hasnt been turning on sometimes but if u wiggle the key it works. a trip to euros me thinks!
