Thanks for looking and letting me know. The aa worent much help in the end but I did get it started! It ended up firing up and running last note. Just a couple of things left to do now like the exhasut manifold and bleeding tje clutch and she will be back on the road! Thanks for all your help, I couldn't of done it without you!

The AA turned up said they want nothing to do with it as it has been converted. be he still had a look and found cylinder 1 full of petrol. Just cleared the system and putting the plugs back in now. hopefully it will work!!
-
maybe the block is seazed then i guess. thats all i can think of
-
ok, thanks, i have tried every thing to get it working but it still sounds like the starter is trying to turn over the engine but its not having any of it. its not seazed as i had it turning when i was doing the cam belt to check i did it correctly. I have called the AA out now... see what they find!

i stuck with the K-jet injection system. and i had a couple of mates help me rip every thing out so i may of missed where that wire went and for some reaqson i trused my memory :( If you could have a look that would be awesome thanks mate

i got a loom, ecu and the engine with all the ancilieries attached. i just bought it as im getting desporate for a car!
-
ahhh good stuff. im keeping the K-jet injection system so i guess i will be keeping the old inlet from my old 1.8. Thanks very much!!!
-
yeah i stumbled across that a week or so ago. very handy! I was wondering what will work if i leave it on the ABF as i have every thing from under a bonnet and my corrado has done nearly 200k
-
will the inlet manifold from the ABF not work then? I have the loom for the ABF but no idea how to splice it into the old loom

Alright guys, i just need a bit of info. This weekend i am fitting a 2 litre ABF lump to my 91reg 1.8 16v raddo but i need to ask a few questions before i go ahead with it. I bought an engine with all the ancilieries and loom with 70k miles on it. I am quite mechanicly minded and have almost all the tools i will require to do it and i have a mate who works for jag to come help me too. Questions i have are.... what parts can i use from the ABF lump? what sensors are diffrent and have to be changed for my originals? can i use the dizzy from the ABF as it looks very diffrent from my orgianal. Theres probably a thousand more questions to ask but i will post them as i think of them. Idealy id like to use as much as i can from the ABF as its all newer and has dont a quater of the milege of my engine. Sorry for sounding quite thick but i havent done an engine conversion before! any suggesgions would be great - i know there are some very very clever people on this forum! Thanks Pete

ill take a 3 relay loom if your making more. PM me when you return from your holiday Thanks
-
yeah, user error me thinks... i didnt put the pipe back properly on the over run valve
-
Right, New problem........ I just took the car round the block but now it just refuses to idle, it just keeps cutting out :( how would i go about getting this sorted? lol Thanks
-
thanks for your advice. i stripped and cleaned the entire air system this morning. I also cleaned the over run valve and the throttle body while i could get to it. I havent taken the car for a test drive yet but it started perfectly once it was all back together. I think there was 20 years of carbon on the throttle body, it was covered in it! took ages to clean but its all shiney now :D Thanks again
-
but surly there is a problem if that amount of oil has ot in there in the first place ?? ive got tomorrow off work so hopefully i will get a chance to clean it out along with all the other air pipes in the area, all quite oily :confused4: Thanks
-
wow thanks. could be bad news then i guess. there was alot of oil in there!
-
i took my radoo to the garage to get the water pump changed last week but ever since it hasnt been starting like it used to. I was having a nosey about earlyer today and discovered this under the air pipe. should this be filled with oil??? Would this cause the car to start poorly and make the revs drop really slow Thanks
-
Im not too hot on the topic so i may be slighly wrong. I know under the plastic surround for the gear knob is you will find the ODB2 port. Just give the plastic a gentle tug and it will come off. I think the earlyer corrados have a diffrent port that u cant do any thing with so you may want to check before you go and buy a cable. The diffrence is the ammount of pins on the port. The ODB2 has lots more than the old style. If you download the correct version of VAGCOM for the cable you buy, you may even get it bundled with the cable. Mine only works with a really old version but every thing still works as it should. If your local (im between camberley and guildford, surrey) im more than happy to plug mine in and show you whats what

I used to have a VR and had the same problem. I bought a vagcom cable from ebay for about £15 and found out it was 1 of the sensors. Theres not much too go wrong, i replaced the sensor and the light went off after a quick reset of the error codes. I'd really recommend you get a vagcom if you have a laptop. Will save you alot of money

thanks very much. i will have to give it a go next weekend
-
i have just purchaced a HID kit, Could you tell me where you put the 2 ballast boxes as i coudnt find any where in the VR engine bay as theres no room! thanks

yes, isnt that the aux water pump?
