  1. They used an original one in the end. 8)
  2. no photoshop involved at all actually. IIRC, he said it was all to do with slowish shutter speeds but moving the camera to trace the car. He was sat on the pavement next to the road and we just kept driving past till he got all the shots he could. Took about 15-20 shots of each car...... I'm chuffed with it anyway....
  3. There you go guys. It sit's proudly as my wallpaper picture at the moment! Everyone loves that pic.
  4. Here's a few pics of my VR6 that were taken by the photographer for the Used Car Buyer Magazine feature. Such a shame i've got to sell the old girl....
  5. IT'S ON THE SHELVES NOW!! GO GET ONE!! Still not had my free copy, but the missus has gone and bought it for me. Dunno what it's like though guys, so no slaggin it off until i've seen it!!
  6. Still waiting for my copy to land on the doorstep. Hopefully it'll be waiting for me when i get home!
  7. Where will i find, and how do i go about changing, the brake pedal position sensor on my 94 VR? I need to get this done before i can sell it, and i don't reckon it can be a hard job so i'll do it myself. That's the error that showed on the diagnostics when the light first came on anyway. Tends to be more on than off now.
  8. Andy - Could be interesting, that fire damaged C, it's just getting it over 300 miles south!! Thanks for the thought with the Rocco, but not for me thanks!
  9. it's not the running costs that are the issue here. Now i've moved i hardly use the car (weekends and shows) as work is only 2 miles away. The only reason for selling it on is to free up the spare cash that i would get from selling the C and buying the MK2, and the cheaper insurance.
  10. Unfortunately, after a few weeks of deliberating (and probably annoying Phat with some stupid emails), the missus and i have decided that our house funds just aren't looking good. Now we've bought the house and been in it for a couple of months, it seems like the money just ain't going as far as it could have done so i think i may have to say a tearful goodbye to the Corrado. I'm planning on replacing it with a MK2 VR6, which is something that i was planning on doing before buying the C, and using the left over money to clear the overdarfts and hopefully get us a new door. It'll be a shame to see the old girl go, especially after a comparable short time together, but hopefully i'll be able to return in a year or so's time after we've flushed ourselves a bit.
  11. i must admit, i thought there was something not right about comparing a Y plated GTV with an M plated C. But, to be honest, the point of the feature was to compare Coupes that are available for around 7k. The Fiat seems readily available for around 5-6k for a 98/99 model, the GTV V6 just doesn't seem to exist much below 10k, the 944 around 6-7k and the Corrado for 4-6k for a not too bad example. IMO the Alfa shouldn't have been there........ BUT, as they said to us yesterday, they like to compare things like this, as originally (dure to years of manufacture/original price etc) they would not have originally been competitors, but in the secondhand market they are. It'll be nice to see how the old designs compare with the newer boys. 8) Phil - Were you supposed to be doing the shoot then??? Rodders - Just realised, you're just north of Watford Gap and they didn't want you to do it??? I'm a little bit further away than that, probably twice as far, and they don't seem to be argueing that!! Odd!
  12. well, the Alfa ( a Y plate GTV V6 Cup) was absolutely spanking! IMO gorgeous car, but heard a lot about the handling from the feature writer. The Fiat (also a spanking example on a V plate) wasn't quite so pretty, but definately quick, as i found up the A1M on the way back. Both made my old M plate look long in the tooth, but to be honest i think it tended to hold it's own. The 944 was an S2, and IMO not the best example. Nice car though. The way they were driven yesterday was more of an idea of seating position etc, as past reviews of each car give them details on handling. Be interesting to see whats said about it when it's published as i didn't ask too many questions so as to have a (hopefully) nice surprise when i read it. It's in the September issue which is on the shelves around 12th August. 8)
  13. many people have told me that the Fiat is the only contender really. I've got no idea as i've not really looked at any reports for any of them, make it more of a surprise for me!!
  14. eerrrrrrmmmmm, haven't actually got any forum stickers, sorry guys....... Will make sure it's mentioned though!! 8)
  15. Tomorrow is the day!! Off "darn sarf" (well, it is for me anyway) for a shoot for Used Car Buyer magazine. They are doing a group test with a Porsche 944, Fiat 20V Turbo Coupe, Alfa GTV V6 and the Corrado. Should be a good day out, just hope it gets the credit it deserves! 8)
  16. oooh, just noticed this. My car's coming down 40mm on Thursday. Do i need to trim the bumpstops down (no time to get replacement upgrades).......... HELP!!! 8)
  17. Currently 25 but only for another 10 days! Have driven dubs since i was 21: 1988 F MK2 Golf GTI 8V 1991 H MK2 Golf GTI 8V 1994 M Corrado VR6 before that i only had 2 cars and both were not really worth mentioning, except for entertainments sake: 1982 Talbot Samba 950 (lasted a month!) 1985 Rover 213SE.  Got the NCB up though! 8)

    Corrado VR6 MPG ?

took it staedy coming back from Derby when i collected mine and saw 36mpg. averaging 25 ish now. mostly short journeys though at the mo.
  19. The missus has one and, although it feels a lot slower than the C, the fun is immeasureable. I absolutely love it, it's just a shame that the seat doesn't go far enough back and low enough for me to be 100% comfortable. Definately a very fun car though. And the 6 speed is geared perfectly!! 8)
  20. Well there's a load of us going from around the Worcester area. We'll be heading down around midday on the Friday, so if anyone wants to join us, let me know! 8)

    Central locking

My drivers door wouldn't unlock last night, whichever way i tried. With bothe the alarm and the key, the door lock pin would only move up slightly then drop back down again. It wouldn't rise enough to unlock the door at all! I went in through the passenger door to try and pull the pin up and it still wouldn't lift at all (is it deadlocked??). I started the engine and left it running for a bit, trying it every now and again with the spare key but to no avail. Then after about 10 mins of the engine running, i leaned over and noticed the pin had popped up by itself. What could have caused this? I've been told about a sticking diaphragm in the door, the only thing i can think to is a diaphragm in the door actuator. How is it possible to check this??
  22. Judging from the amount of work that went into the CGTI Megameet at Ragley last year, i sure as hell wouln't fancy trying to organise a show as big as that!

    Springs

Was hoping to lower the car for Inters but what with repairs that are needing to be done left right and centre i think it's highly unlikely that i'm gonna manage to pay for shocks and springs by then. I was thinking of just getting some lowering springs on the original dampers for now (not too old by the looks of them). What can people recommend for a 40mm drop bearing in mind that i would probably keep them to swap onto some Koni dampers or similar in the future.
