VR6 Lee - Corrado VR6 Storm Mystic Blue Build thread
OSV replied to VR6 Lee's topic in Members Gallery
Thats the dilema. That's the decision I had to make. In many ways I wish i had just sold mine and bought a non Storm model to modify. Part of me thinks it's like defacing a classic, the other part of me thinks that there are plenty other Storms... I chose to modify it, but I haven't done any non-reversible mods. (it'd take a while to put it back though!) KipVRs car is superb and undoubtably superior to the standard factory product and I think what he's done is stunning. I think its perfectly acceptable to mod any Corrado my point was that if you bought the car specifically because it Storm and are precious about its Ltd Edition status then it may be best to leave it broadly stock. A heavily modified Corrado based on the storm can hardly still be regarded as the Ltd Edition car it started out as -

Thats good news  -
Thats the ticket, just as it should be, the MK1 Cabriolet resoration thread seen recently was lovely work and not custom in the usual sense but in reality it looked a little Walt Disney, just everything over restored created a strange fantasy look standard finish

Stunning car Dedicated passionate owner Continued commitment to improve and preserve the car Top marks from me :salute: A point here and there in the concours and a cheap rosette, a fringe benefit of little importance in the overall ownership experience of what is without doubt one of the finest unmolested Corrados around :notworthy:

I think Portent has got a bee in his bonnet about this chain and tensioner issue as seen by his frequent posts and comments on the cars for sale thread. Its not a service item in the schedules like belts but as stated there is evidence that they usually need changing as age or mileage increases. Despite the apparent wear on removal you hear very few accounts of catastrophic failure in use. What I don't think is fair is to make the chains/ tensioners such a big issue on cars for sale implying a less than thorough service record or neglect if they haven't been done. Yes its a cost of ownership if you keep the car any length of time but the seller can hardly be expected to cover the full cost of this work at the time of sale.

In concours judging is factory paint with some imperfections likely to be scored as highly as fresh paint with a non factory perfect detailed flat finish?

Looks great  but don't over do it, not all fasteners and clips were this bright or finish as standard some selective restraint will give the best overall look.

Told him pretty much the same earlier

VR6 Lee - Corrado VR6 Storm Mystic Blue Build thread

Having gone for a Storm i'd keep it broadly stock, so stay with the VR6 for me. -
Excellent news, I'll start the ball rolling. Are 90mm front splitters still available and how much are they. Thankyou Will we then compile a list of confirmed obsolete parts?
-
I hope you keep this interior, the incredible standards you've achieved deserve an OEM finish :salute: , I think overtly custom touches would only detract

The car is brilliant and with a GT28 kit there supposed to be very tatsy. I was actually looking at wheels before Id bought the car  . I was looking at something OE looking but dont want to go down the usual LM, CH replica route. Dont want the 18in diamond cut ones either as they suffer from lacquer problems. Something plain and easy to clean like the A8 5 spoke's would be ideal but the only place there for sale is the like of ED38 so they have the usual inflated price. Tempted to to get some Team Dynamnics or the VW Racing ones (which are Team Dynamics by the looks of them anyway). Also quite like the VWR front spoiler but its about £250!!! A slight drop is probably first after spunking £500 on winter tyres :pale: . http://www.volkswagenracing.co.uk/Golf% ... Tyres.html Oh yah Im getting the Corrado on the RR on Sat so I'll finally find out what the old things running like. Go with the OE 18s but refinished in bright silver and black detailing rather than the lacquered finish, should be able to pick up a set needing refurb. Wouldn't go for anything else

seems to have all come apart nicely

You've made this very easy, compared to the OZ or BMW fitment BBS i'd go for the Speedlines everyday. If you can't beat the stock rims, stick with stock

The Judge's G60, total rebuild...finished (almost) NEW PICS
OSV replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Members Gallery
With such a powerfull and well spec'd G60 engine being replaced the last thing I expected was another 8v with G lader. However good to see you are staying faithfull to the original, surely you can't get significantly more power than the last one? but you can't beat the reasurance of a fresh build. -
1 I'm concise

I'm happy to pay a fair price for correctly described items, I personally normally would only buy NOS or mint and with parts becoming obsolete I recognise i'm unlikely to get bargain prices. However misleading descriptions or poor quality parts offered at premium prices is really annoying as is the increasing willingness of people using what is a friendly and helpful enthusiast forum to try to cash in on enthusiasts looking for parts and spares. Personally I feel where there is clear evidence of deliberate overpricing by opportunists to cash in on members they should be boycotted and not be given the opportunity make money off the back of true enthusiasts.

Got to make a great deal of sense as a fun yet practical and reliable car, get in, drive, enjoy

Thanks for that, and I take it that the centre bore is 57mm they are supplied for the specific fitment that you order, so yes VW fitment, no spigots, adaptors or spacers required

ET35 are perfect for the VR6 they clear 288 and 312mm with ease

45s on a 17?

side walls and rolling radius if fine but I tied the 225 briefly and they are too wide and blocky in the standard front arches

Luckily theres a few touches that will make it look fresher and cost next to nothing. Its just a case of little details
