The guy is getting me the TSR build number tomorrow so will ring and check with them, not much info on the site about it now, it is a dinosaur now! Be good to hear of anyones experiences with one though. Brand new ABV block used for the build tho with 60k on now.. Yesh pleashe  Only thing is I am going to have to trust a video of it running as I will never get to see it being too far :( If the paperwork all ties up I'll have to take a leap of faith! PS Its from a dizzy VR6 am I going to have problems as mine is coilpack 94'
-
Anyone got any specs on these? Found one fror sale which has a claimed 60k on and comes with £4.5k build invoice. Believe it is 'pack a' Could be very good timing for transplanting my recently deceased VR..
-
New set of NGK's later and its still at least a cylinder down.. pulling my hair out with it now! Think the only realistic thing is a complete transplant for a low mileage cheap vr be it 2.8 or 2.9 rather than pulling things apart.
-
So looking at my previous posts I need some thicker oil to prolong the life of my dying vr, do you do discounts for forum members? VR6 oiling 1 and 6, new plugs only lasting a week with current GSF Semi synth in...
-
Dead again! New plugs on order but the last one didn't last a week!
-
Ordered and thank you :-)

Had a search with no definate answers. GSF Supplied me some Bosch super thing which is different to the single point ones my local indie put in for the service. GSF also advised against putting NGKs in a German car?? Which do I need and where from as it feels noticably slower with this odd Bosch lot in it!
-
Much as I love it and would love a rebuilt 12v I can't justify the cost, If I'm shelling out a bomb it almost has to go R32 for me.. Can probably get it all plumbed in myself with help and just get it set up by a pro.
-
Thanks for your advice chaps. GSF gave me some Bosch super 4 thing (only bought one plug to test them) and the rest are Bosch supers with single tips which my local specialist put in during its service a couple of months back. I remember my old mk2 8v needing some double tipped NGK's after reading up as when I put the specified ones in it drove like crap and they didn't match what the previous owner had put in. So what are the 'magic' NGK's for a VR6 specified by VW/GSF or not? GSF said "you don't want them NGK's in a VW mate, they're only OK for little french cars"!! Just wanted one that fitted on the day to text but now want the best considering the above symptoms. Wheres the best place to order the oil and plugs too. Much appreciated :-) Getting the hump with the thing now, not sure I'll bother much more with this lump other than keeping some spare plugs and oil! If it dies I may consider binning the problematic oval bored 12v in favour of something more modern (and in keeping with the car of course) That is for another thread though..

Pulled out the front left (from standing in front of the bonnet) spark plug and it was black with oil and broken down so swapped it for a new one and it runs again! What are my underlying issues with oiling plugs? Will the oiling break them down fast as they were only changed 2 months ago..
-
Well, set of leads and two brand new relays later its still the same... Going to get a spare spark plug and make sure I haven't got a dud but they were only changed in July. If its not that then I'm breaking the bastard!
-
They will be next on the list after the relays! Hoping it won''t come to that. Are the plugs easy to get to or is it engine covers off etc? I read about bore wear affecting a couple of cylinders which ones are these? I hope it isn't that or I'm doomed but should probably check. Car is on 119k.

Replaced about 2-3 months 800 miles ago during its service..
-
Just ordered ecu and fuel pump relays (£45 for both) in for tomorrow, if not then its a set of leads. Fingers crossed. Already had a new fuel pump and filter.
-
Thanx for the help mate, will get on it asap[/quote:3ep8ot4c] Update the thread on how you get on with the new relays. Need to get to the bottom of this issue myself.[/quote:3ep8ot4c] Ditto :)
-
Will also be following this as same was happening to mine until this morning when it threw its toys out the pram and started severely misfiring, stinking of fuel and the whole car shaking with the vibration of the engine, running on at least one cylinder down.... I was lucky when it just cut out sometimes it would seem haha
-
Found the OEM Beru ones for £68 delivered on VWspares... Should I give it a try or is there anything else to try thats free? Luckily have my dads Transit to use while he's away but need to sort it before Weds and get it off his drive :(
-
They look OK but I they haven't been changed in my ownership (15,000 miles, 3 years) - Is it worth getting a set to try? If so is it genuine VW for these I think I've read somewhere are the best?
-
As above really, done a few searches but not too sure what it is. Used to be somewhat lumpy from cold but was fine warm. Used to cut out randomly and always start up and run fine after. Have slowly been replacing bits and have now changed: Coilpack, Plugs and oil, Ignition switch Cleaned immobiliser connections under dash and sprayed with wd40. Just put up with it until this morning when I put my foot down and there was nothing, then power came back then it was running on 5 cylinders or less when I put it on the drive. Still runs just about and stinks of fuel. Any ideas??

Just had a drive over to Stevens VW dismantlers in Boreham Essex mainly for a test drive but also to see if they had on the off chance a Corrado with a fixed column and cowl, they only had a 95 8v just come in with everything on it! I took the cowlings for £20 but they have the rest of the car including fixed column if any one is looking for one? Also after refitting the new column the lower tray under the steering wheel wouldnt fit as the fixed unit has a a kind of triangle bar on the bottom of it? Anyway, I had to cut an inch wide hole in this and it screwed up nicely ... All in all a productive day :D
-
A fresh mind and a nights sleep later I managed to finish this morning, the only other :censored: was the ignition switch screw! All back together now with new switch and bearing minus a cowling, just getting myself a cuppa then out on the test drive :-)
-
Righto, Old column is out, just swapping the locks out quick....or so I thought! The lock I'm trying to remove from the new fixed column I may have mashed into the housing with the drill bit whilst looking for the spring to compress. I also drilled a much smaller hole in the old one to release my existing lock I want to fit but couldn't see the spring there either. Anyone else have trouble with this? I think I may have made the hole too big on the fixed column now, the no longer turns and I downed tools before I ruined the lock barrell I need to reuse. Is there any way I can just rip them out as if there was a spring, there probably isn't now.. Help! I have made a hash of it :help:
-
Ordered for tomorrow! No such luck with the cowls :-(
-
Clever stuff, will probably end up attempting with the drill though I reckon as I'm too poor this month! Always Christmas! Do I need to order any new bolts to replace the shear bolts? Will give the cowlings another go but it may a case of :brickwall:
