16vgt, Where is it please.....and have you seen it, I know your'e biased, but is she sweet? dazzyvr6, Does this imply a shady deal? :|
-
Personally I don't like the wheels though!!! Washing machine drums tend to detract from the lines of the car IMO
-
Make sure it hasn't dried out though before you use it!!!!
-
Yep, that was my reservation too, but after trying it, not a scratch, mark, swirl or anything....was both astonished and pleased all at the same time. Paint came up a treat with no damage to the paint whatsoever!!!!!

Got one of these 'freebie' wipes at Inters, didn't use it but luckily had a re-sealable plastic bag to put it in. Used it today on my dry dusty car, and gotta say, very impressed! Anyone else used these, and how much does a tub retail for? Felt really strange wiping over a dusty car, dreading damaging the paint, but no problems....quick wipe over to get rid of the dust, then finished off with some wax.....nice 8) ...and quick!

KARMANN, and steveo29, No probs, happy to help! :) chris CORRADO, As I understand it the 'early' C's didn't have the weight fitted at all. Not sure at what point they began to be fitted as standard, but I beleive after a certain point they were fitted as normal part of the car.

Pretty sure thatl'l be it, or your coolant level too low perhaps!!! Should be two wires going to a plug on the side of the expansion tank.....

Looks like VW may have sold you a pup then,....good 'ol VW!

Gotta say I would agree with muskie, If it's had a sh#t load of welding carried out, then chances are itl'l start to need a sh#t load more in the fairly near future. OK it might look good from above ground level, but....... Surely the restoration would only cover the mechanicals and the paintwork, I suppose the long term issue though is the condition of an already heavily welded shell in 2 to 3 years time......

jimsG60, Perfect, completes things nicely! :)

Have had a few PM's about the gearshift weight mod which the earlier C's didn't have fitted by VW, so thought I would post this up...with photos attached. OK, from my copy of ETKA, and my memory, you will need the shift weight, a longer attachment bolt which replaces the existing one, and should fit a new nut at the same time, as it's self-locking type. The weight is attached by the new longer bolt which is part of the existing shift mechanism but is extended for the weight to bolt to. The weight also has a kind of leg, which sits in a hole in the shift mechanism. It's pretty self explanatory really, but well worth asking your local friendly dealer to print you off a copy of the ETKA illustration. It is at Main Group 7, Sub Group 11, Illustration 122-00, Items 32, 53 and 54. The illustration will help. Dont beleive fitting the weight disturbs the shift adjustment at all. The only minor thing I had to do was slightly twist the power steering reservoir bracket to give more clearance of the pipes to the reservoir when the weight moved forward during gear changes. Easy. Obviously once you have fitted the weight I would just operate the gears (feel the improvement ) through all gears and make sure nothing is interefering in the engine bay. Dead easy mod., first thing I did to my C over 5 years ago, and much improved gear shifting, it's slicker! IHope the piccies explain a bit more. Part numbers are - Weight - 357 711 188 A Bolt - 357 711 234 A Nut - N 902 920 01

That armyrado makes me want to vomit....yeugh

....oh my, and she's even polishing the tailpipe! Can't say fairer than that really. Love the colour (of the car!, of the car!), but that fin and wing/spoiler/whatever is NOT good IMO

I had the same type of issue when I had a 'no fault' accident. Legally I was exonerated, but because my insurers couldn't get any money back from the person at fault, they automatically considered it as against me! Nice! That's why I laugh so much when I see those crappy NUD 'quote me happy' adverts or the other one that rips off Charlies Angels. Pathetic bunch the lot of them! I appreciate they are in busines to make money, but they could at least play fair.......Grrrrrr!

....and if these are your next purchases, don't buy cheap Lucas ('the Prince of Darkness') or similiar bits, make you sure you get kosher genuine VAG / Bosch etc bits, well worth that few quid more!
-
'.... (a lowly 16v) managed it!......' huff! A lowly 16v indeed! Regds, a valver!
-
Might make enough to buy a new rear VW badge! Bet someone buys it
-
Yeah, but be fair, you would probably get a free coffee as well...
-
dubbprince, I think you might be on to something there, as long as it has 'trick' blue flashing pedals and neon washer jets, and the back seats full of McDonalds wrappers (coz window wouldn't go down far enough to chuck 'em out the window mate'.).....but who would volunteer to drive 'it', and more importantly would you be fully insured driving with balaclava and extra dark glasses on? My saying of the day today...'As long as it's not one of those computer muffin fans, put me down for two!'
-
I make that just shy of £4.3 billion... (unless you're using signed numbers then it's only £2.2 billion) .....so, pretty much spot on then!

Essex, the most speed cameras in the country, and.......
kvwloon replied to kvwloon's topic in General Car Chat
What gets me is, ...no licence, no tax, no MOT, no insurance, plus reduced traffic police equals fair chance of getting away with it. Full MOT, full licence, full insurance, and taxed, 'wrong' speed at the wrong time equals points and a fine. Oh, and don't forget they don't need to check your vehicle for expired tax now, can do it automatically by registered address. So, thatl'l be even less incentive for the less salubrious to register their vehicle to where they live then! -
I'm no expert, but.....got any chafed / shorted / burnt out wiring anywhere? Are you 100% sure the fuses are the correct rating for the location! That's all I would look for first off...after that I'd probably be lost where electrics are concerned
-
......road deaths up 25% last year! Discuss?
-
Well I'm bloody impressed, come on, be 'the first in the county to own one', 'the only genuine disrupter in the UK', and don't worry, 'it's not a 'small computer muffin fan'(sic), jeeez, and it's axial flow and everything (OK, so are hair dryers!) Just think, buy one of those exhaust tail pipe 'turbo' whistle fans too and youl'l be away, one end sucking the car along, the other end pushing.......whooooooshhhh!
-
'people', don't you just love 'em  Had the same recently myself, despite deliberately parking out of the way with only one side of car exposed....grrrrrr.
