Ok had intermittent blowing fuse on electric windows for a while now. Has always tended to fix itself though until now. Had both windows right down the oher day and then got out and hit full closure button on the alarm and windows went up fine. Now the fuse has blown again but it is constantly doing it ie I cannot even put a new fuse in as its sparking, so something must be grounding out somewhere. Now if I unplug the window switch, mirror switch, motor switch both sides it still does it. So am I right in thinking the short must be in the wiring from the door to the dash? Or is it worth me taking the back seats out and rear quarter panel off to check the window control module :confused4: I have checked all the obvious wiring and come up with nothing. Im all ready to get an auto leccy in to have a look but Im not sure there is anymore that he can do that I havent already done.... Any help or pointers would be great, cos I feel a bit lost at the moment! And yes I have scoured the search facility and tried many of the things suggested previously  Cheers Matt

I can thoroughly recommend buying one of these as well. http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1032480.htm Great intro into rear wheel drive, really nicely balanced car. Really low depreciation and sensible running costs. Plus amazing on the track. And money in the pocket to put towards another Porsche in a couple of years time
-
Cayman on a PCP would have to be a good option. Newer, lower miles, under warranty, less running costs. And you get 95% of the performance of a 911! I know it is the cheaper mans option but have you even considered the Boxster? It certainly performs well and would be a great occasional track car as well. Plus its sunny outside, go take a look if you don't believe me  Perfect soft top weather 8)

German ebay has to be about the best place! Dont be scared to ask them if they will ship to ship to the UK even if they dont list it as an option

LOL well if you run a turbo or charger you are obviously exempt from my dual hero action comments. If I had one I would probably do it as well to embarass some newer machinery  Got a bit of a chip on my shoulder with drag racing. I see so many kids ragging the arse off their cars in a straight line around my way, when we have the most awesome driving roads in the country on our doorstep! Plus when they are 17 they can all only afford the same power cars. Ditto when they are 19 and 21. So they all end up having accidents and killing themselves and their mates cos they take stupid risks trying to overtake a similar powered car

I don't really understand all this racing talk at speeds up to 130/140 mph. In real world scenarios over a twisty B Road I'm telling you an ST150 aint slow! If you want to go drag racing then fair enough the VR is quicker but then if you just want straight line speed down the local dual carriageway a Corrado isnt exactly the right car for you to begin with... Just my two pence worth

And hopefully still be on the road when his is in the scrapper

He will be lucky not to have a masked vigilante mob knocking on his door!

If you could stretch to it something like this would be nice. Good colour combo, low miles, facelift 3.6L model etc http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... gLetter=52 The one thing I would say about buying a Porsche (or any Top Marque) is that it really does pay in the long run to spend a little more getting the RIGHT car, rather than the OK car. As you will always make that money back in the long run, through ease of resale and good residuals.

Just looks a bit chavvy in my opinion, if it is not actually a GT3

No chance, my standard VR with lowered compression (so gutless!) pisses all over a fiesta ST! Not through town perhaps as they will have a revvier engine and shorter gears, but where it counts a VR is definitely quicker. Well the one I was following was no slouch through the twisties or the straights! Perhaps he had already been chipped to 180bhp  Plus dont forget they are 110kg lighter than a VR.

From past experience of items of a similar weight and size I think you will be looking at £200 plus They all seem to be similar when it comes to pricing :(

Why its sometimes better to ring the Dealer first...

[/quote:1fx10xl7] I have to say actually that mine (Gilders Chesterfield) is very good. He doesnt always know what everything is (to be expected really), but he takes the time to go through everything slowly to make sure it is right. Trouble is they just arent that cheap :( Even when I get 20% discount from my mate who works for VW they are still marginally more than GSF etc -

However if the parts were cheaper in the first place, there would be more demand for them...ie headlights, late bumpers, VR steering rack, exhaust systems, etc etc. Despite the extra expense, I always try to buy VW bits and have been going to my local VW dealers for 15 years and know them really well, but they think I'm mad spending money on an old car. I get trade discount now which is good though! Parts club offers discount too, and a handy book. How did you get the trade discount mate, did you just chance your arm? :norty: -
Lets see a pic :norty:

Well i have signed the petition. New car scrappage scheme doesnt make any sense to me, nor any of the car dealers I speak to :cuckoo: -

Ok you have me sucked in. Before I buy a 2nd hand late style drivers door handle, how much for a shiney new one  P.S I really dont know why VAG as a group dont offer discount on parts for older cars and cheaper servicing. I mean how many 100's of 1000's of older cars are there out there! Or is it too much effort for the mechanics, getting all oily and having to learn a few new skills? -
Looking awesome absolutely love it! Any more plans for it? It looks pretty much done 8)

Ha ha I was going to say the exact same thing but thought I was being slightly picky!
-
Sell it and buy a ST220  I think you may be struggling mate. It would still be pretty even matched in a VR6 I reckon. Then if you do make yours faster somehow, he only needs to go to Mountune and spend a few hundred quid for 185bhp
