The service history would obviously still be kept up to date. Just not with the VW stamp in the book :hitler:
-
Now I think I already know the answer to this but was just after peoples opinions. Car is 1995 VR6 82k I have had good service from my local VW garage over the years but recently even the 'master techs' don't really have the knowledge to look after a 13 year old car and all of its idiosyncracies! I already take the car to a mechanic up the road from me who is a proper VW enthusiast, owned VR6's and currently building a nice 1.8T Rallye. So is it still worth taking the car to VW and paying through the nose for what is effectively an oil change just to keep the history up? Would it still be a 'bonus' for any future buyers? Thanks for your thoughts..

That would good! I will have a word with my m8 at VW Thanks guys Matt :)

Anyone know where you can buy the levers for the Corrado fit Recaros? Cheers Matt
-
Here you go managed to find a pic. Look lighter than this in the flesh. Excuse my sisters ugly mug

I have some silver grey leather electric recaros in mine. Was told my car was one of two Aqua/Silver combo cars in the UK (anyone on here have the other?). Look nice though and lift the interior a fair bit. :)

Not a problem with a 6 cylinder engine mate. The drop to a 3.68 diff just means 4000rpm pulls 90mph instead of 100mph, but the main thing is at 70mph, the revs are in the right torque band ready shoot off. No need to drop to 4th anymore when that truck moves over ;-) Oh ok I get ya, I quite like cruising at 100mph on the motorway so will have to bear that one in mind. Yeah Mitsi are a bit of a rip off, easy power for your buck is to spend 14k on a EVO 260 and spend 6k on it for an easy 400bhp 400 lb ft 8) Didnt realise you were pushing out quite that much power must be an animal! :D You sure it isnt too much power? ;-) LOL
-
Nice one cheers m8 good to get things confirmed before blowing the moths out of the wallet :D Good info on the clutch maybe go that route anyway for a bit longer life. Reason I was thinking diesel final drive was purely for refinement on the motorway really. Just done my brakes and kept em std doh! Im quite light on them anyway tbh, but I think that will be the last mod of the many! If your serious about the FQ360 not feeling any quicker than yours then I will be a happy man Im sure 8) They are incredibly smooth in their power delivery right through the range tailing off at 5500rpm though. Think you should organise a rolling drag race with him, just for technical comparison reasons you understand ;-)

LOL Less of the joking and more of the answering my questions on page 5 so I can make this thing a reality :D You would be surprised how fast the bastard fcuk shit makes the Evo go tho, loads of people have em on the MLR (Mitsubishi Lancer Forum) along with incredibly large ego's and teeny tiny penis's
-
Ah a man of taste :D Have to say I fookin love it, just didnt want to have to get my flame suit on on the Rado forum
-
LOL that is a nightmare. To be fair things do get a little 'hyper space' when you mash the throttle. However you would have thought he would have learnt to look a little further ahead after the first time! Amen to Tommi a true driving god 8)
-
Yeah feel a bit of a chav when Im driving it but it does make me smile! :D
-
Ha ha I think you could be right. Only doing it to see the expression on my sisters face next time Im following her in her 360bhp EVO TME and Im still there in the mirror
-
All very true sadly. In my standard engine car I struggle to get past reasonably well driven diesel rep mobiles now a days :( Some of the all time oldie greats keep their 5 stars though, Audi quattro and 106 rallye off the top of my head. And must admit I would love to try out a C with a lightweight engine transplant anyone with a 1.8T care to comment on how/if the handling is improved? And there I am thinking of adding more weight with a charger, I should know better lol Matt :-)
-
Ok then guys so I think we may have decided that too much power doesnt actually exist  So what do you recommend upgrade wise if your going to run 300bhp and similar torque? Think will almost 100% go Rotrex. Peloquin dif Low compression gasket set ARP bolts New clutch! Will a Sachs one be ok? If so what model?? Oil pump Gearbox checked, final drive from a diesel added? Do I need an oil cooler? Anything else? Cheers guys much appreciated Matt :-) P.S Yes V8's sound awesome. Wish my g-friend would get my car on Overhaulin so they could stick a Hemi in it! :D But I have to say I do quite like the Ferrari howl sounds better in the 355 than the 430 though 8)
-
Oh just checked and the Fiat has lost a whole star down to four, let em off
-
You can kind of see their point but it has still got to be a 5 star car surely 8) As good as a Fiat Coupe 20V that gets five stars! :?
-
There was a horrible resonance at about 3500rpm in the R32 though which made it literally a complete headache to drive anywhere slowly!
-
[quote name="CrazyDave Great engine, very very quite compared to the 12v. Difficult to tell if a standard one is actually running at idle![/quote] Yeah thats not a good thing is it
-
Well my car has 'only' done 75k so its not really tired. Im just tired of keeping on top of things really. R32 route would be very good idea but as engine is ok I may well just put my VW VSR on and add some cams hadnt I? How much would R32 swap be, that must be at least 4k isnt it? And then car wouldnt really be original which would bother me  Plus in my mates Golf R32 it didnt sound as good as my 12v somehow :? Still food for thought.... Damn why do I have to like cars so much :D

Blimey this thread has moved on with most of the info going straight over my head   I wish I could make my mind up what to do! TBH as a daily driver I couldnt really afford to only get 20mpg or less. Really do love my motor but am struggling so much with it gettin old now and having to replace bits all the time. Must be gettin old myself as I just feel like an easy life with a newer car :D Feck knows think I will have to toss a coin :?

Thanks for all the imput everyone even about the lotus Calton :D Well I test drove an RX8 at the weekend and i have to say i was very impressed. Engine is soooo smooth it has to have a buzzer at the 9000 redline to tell you to change up! Steering feel was lovely being rwd and having the engine mounted so far back in the bay. Plus the ride and handling were spot on for UK roads and was very forgiving if pushed to the limit. You could even get the tail out with all the driver aids on which eas nice  Very practical as well and the interior is very very nice. BUT yes the engine note was the big let down and it sounded like a milk float :( Only other negatives are poor fuel economy and having to check the oil every 500 miles  But hey you could live with that. Still thinking about it as there are some decent low mileage 230 bhp cars around at around £10k and if I keep the C i will be wanting to spend 4k on it so.........
-
LOL I know but I had to ask! Cant belive it costs £65 to fill the VR up now
-
Hey Craziscot (sorry dont know ur name) Oooo I bet your well chuffed with that! 8) Can I please ask what you need to do to your engine to have this conversion (and is it covered in the price) is it just a checkover and uprated gaskets and rods? Also how much do Storm actually charge and what do they supply/fit for that? also did you go for a LSD? Sorry for all the questions but one final boring question whats your mpg like now? :D Cheers Matt :)
-
Thanks Dave Cheers Chazrad that is good to know that there are no compatibility issues. After taking so long to find the VSR (and have it rebuilt by Stealth) I am a bit loath to sell it but will have to see which route I choose to go. :)
